Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Universidad Católica de Córdoba; Argentina.Introduction: The ideal endodontic root canal filling should be a compact, homogeneous mass, with adequate adaptation to the canal walls, without voids or irregularities. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the voids of root canals filling of mandibular premolars obturated with two bioceramic sealers (BioRoot RCS and CeraSeal) compared with a resin-based sealer (AH-Plus), with a single gutta-percha cone technique.Methods: Thirty mandibular permanent premolars with a single root canal were selected. The root canals were instrumented with WaveOne Gold system (Dentsply Sirona Endodontics) and irrigated with sodium hypochlorite. The root canal filling was performed with the single-cone technique and the specimens were assigned to three groups (n=10) according to the root canal sealer used: AH Plus Group (AH; Dentsply DeTrey, Germany), BioRoot RCS Group (BR; Septodont, France) and CeraSeal Group (CS; Meta Biomed, Korea). The access cavity of each tooth was sealed with a temporary light-curing Clip plastic resin (Voco GmbH, Cuxhaven, Germany) and the teeth were kept at 37ºC ± 1ºC., with a relative humidity not less than 95% required by IRAM standards, for a period of 180 days. Micro-computed tomographic (micro-CT) imaging was used to scan each specimen and three-dimensional reconstruction was performed using Mimics Innovation Suite V.6. One factor analysis of variance was used with normal distribution data and generalized lineal model for variables with Poisson distribution. Data were analyzed using InfoStat Software (FCA-UNC, Córdoba, Argentina) with statistical significance preset at 5%. Results: In the micro-CT assessment, the mean percentages of volume voids were 0.72% in the Ceraseal group, 1.03% in the BioRoot group and 3.56% in AH Plus group. The difference was statistically significant between the bioceramic sealers and AH Plus (p < 0.05).Conclusions: Most of teeth showed voids in the root canal obturation regardless the root canal sealer used. The Ceraseal bioceramic sealer showed the lower percentage volume and the number of voids than BioRoot RCS and AH Plus in mandibular premolars obturated with a single gutta-percha cone technique.http://ifea2022santiagodechile.com/docs/fullProgramme.pdfFil: Salduna, Soledad. Universidad Católica de Córdoba; Argentina.Objetivo: estudiar el porcentaje del volumen de vacíos en premolares inferiores obturados con técnica de cono único y selladores endodónticos Ceraseal, BioRoot RCS y AH Plus; en los tres tercios del conducto radicular. Metodología:Se seleccionaron 30 premolares inferiores, con un solo conducto; los cuales luego de la instrumentación e irrigación, fueron obturados con técnica de cono único. Se dividieron en 3 grupos (n=10), según el sellador utilizado: a base de resina AH Plus (AH; Dentsply Sirona, USA), biocerámico BioRoot RCS (BR; Septodont, France) y biocerámico CeraSeal (CS; Meta Biomed, Korea). La cavidad de acceso fue sellada con resina y los dientes fueron conservados en estufa a 37º C y humedad relativa del 100%, durante 180 días. Posteriormente, cada diente fue escaneado usando microtomógrafo (micro-CT) Bruker SkyScan 1272, con una resolución de 15 µm. Las imágenes fueron reconstruídas tridimensionalmente con el software Mimics Innovation Suite V.6. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó el análisis de la varianza de un factor (Anova). Los datos fueron analizados con el software InfoStat Software (FCA-UNC, Córdoba, Argentina) con un nivel de significación establecido de 5%. Resultados: Elporcentaje promedio de volumen de vacíos en todo el conducto fue 0.72% con el sellador CS, 1.03% con BR y 3.56% con AH; con una diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre AH respecto a BR y CS (p=0.0123). En los tercios apical y medio no se observaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre los selladores; sin embargo, en el tercio coronario, el grupo AH mostró diferencias significativas respecto a CS y BR (p=0.0007). Conclusión: Con los selladores biocerámicos Ceraseal, BioRoot y a base de resina AH Plus se evidenciaron vacíos en la obturación de los conductos de premolares inferiores. En los tercios apical y medio, el porcentaje de volumen de vacíos fue similar con los 3 selladores, sin embargo, en el tercio coronario, fue mayor cuando se usó AH Plus, teniendo en cuenta que la técnica utilizada fue la de cono único.Fil: Martín, Gabriela. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
