Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Pengaruh Gaya Kepemimpinan dan Strategi Pencegahan Narkoba Terhadap Hasil Tes Santri Kelas XII Di Mahad Al-Zaytun Indramayu
Get PDFLeadership Style and Drug Abuse Strategies are the focus of this study on drug test results. This study aims to determine the effect of Leadership Style (X1) and Drug Prevention Strategy (X2) on Drug Test Results for Class XII Students (Y) at Mahad Al-Zaytun Indramayu. The population of this study were all students of class XII, amounting to 595 students. While the research sample was 100 students who were determined by proportional random sampling technique with an error rate of 5%, using the N.Slovin formula. Based on the results of this study, using SPSS 20.0 for windows, the resulting multiple linear regression analysis is Y= 2.621 + 0.549 X1 + 0.594 X2. Furthermore, the result of t-count for the variable X1 (Influence of Leadership Style) is 14,315. While the value of t table for N = 100 is 0.000. So, t count > t table or 14,315 > 0.000 So it can be concluded that the influence of leadership style (variable X1) has a significant effect on drug test results in class XII students (variable Y). The t value for the variable X2 (Drug Prevention Strategy) is 13,450. While the value of t table for N = 100 is 0.000. So, t count > t table or 13,450 > 0.000. So it can be concluded that the Drug Prevention Strategy (variable X2) has a significant influence on Drug Test Results in class XII students (variable Y). Furthermore, the ANOVA test or F test obtained the F count result of 194.371. While the F table ( 0.05) for N = 100 is 3.09. So F count is greater than F table or 194.371 > 3.09, so it can be said that the Influence of Leadership Style (X1) and Drug Prevention Strategy (X2) variables simultaneously have a significant effect on the variable Drug Test Results in class XII students (Y ) on Mahad Al-Zaytun Indramayu.Keywords: Leadership Style; Strategy; Drug Test Results; Mahad Al-Zaytun Abstrak Gaya Kepemimpinan dan Strategi Penyalahgunaan Narkoba yang menjadi titik perhatian dalam penelitian ini terhadap hasil tes narkoba. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Gaya Kepemimpinan (X1) dan Strategi Pencegahan Narkoba (X2) terhadap Hasil Tes Narkoba Santri kelas XII (Y) di Mahad Al-Zaytun Indramayu. Populasi penelitian ini semua santri kelas XII yang berjumlah 595 santri. Sedangkan sampel penelitian adalah 100 santri yang ditentukan dengan teknik proportional random sampling dengan tingkat kesalahan 5%,dengan menggunakan rumus N.Slovin. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dengan menggunakan SPSS 20.0 for windows, analisis regresi linier berganda yang dihasilkan adalah Y= 2,621 + 0,549 X1 + 0,594 X2. Nilai t hitung untuk variabel X2 (Strategi Pencegahan Narkoba) sebesar 13,450. Sedangkan nilai t tabel untuk N = 100 adalah 0.000. Jadi, t hitung > t tabel atau 13,450>0.000.Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa Strategi Pencegahan Narkoba (variabel X2) mempunyai yang pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap Hasil Tes Narkoba pada Santri kelas XII (variabel Y). Selanjutnya uji ANOVA atau F test didapatkan hasil F hitung sebesar 194.371. Sedangkan F tabel ( 0,05) untuk N = 100 adalah 3,09. Jadi F hitung lebih besar dari F tabel atau 194.371 >3,09 maka dapat dikatakan bahwa variabel Pengaruh Gaya Kepemimpinan (X1) dan variabel Strategi Pencegahan Narkoba (X2) secara simultan memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap variabel Hasil Tes narkoba pada santri kelas XII (Y) pada Mahad Al-Zaytun Indramayu. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
