Ranking Factors for Supplier Selection with Application of the Ftopsis Method
The first step in starting each production is the choice of suppliers. The choice of suppliers is influenced by many factors that differ depending on whether it is the first relationship with suppliers or it is about establishing partnerships with suppliers. Factors influencing selection are different and depend on business cooperation with suppliers themselves. Unlike other works, this paper applies expert judgment in the rankings of supplier selection factors. Experts include those scientists who published scientific papers on this subject by the prestigious Elsevier publishing house. Experts were assigned a survey questionnaire containing 39 factors for supplier selection to which they gave their opinion on which of these factors is important for establishing new cooperation or establishing partnerships with suppliers. The answers received were processed and the factors were ranked using the fuzzy TOPSIS method. The results showed that various factors are used in this cooperation with suppliers

Towards Establishing a Change Management Process at an Academic Research Laboratory Network
This report focuses on the evaluation and development of a change management process for the Regis University Academic Research Network (ARNe), and specifically the SEAD Practicum. The author originally proposed expanding on a security audit performed on the ARNe in 2008, and researched, evaluated and presents several risk assessment methodologies. This broad approach was later focused on the practical aspects of developing a change management process for the ARNe/SEAD Practicum, based on researching applicable standards and best practice guidance. A management questionnaire and user survey were developed and distributed to obtain valuable opinions and perspectives from the individuals most directly involved with the administration and use of the ARNe and SEAD Practicum portal
The language in the novels of Peyami Safa ;
Peyami Safa was a great thinker, author and journalist. His lifespan includes one of the most boisterous and most significant reform periods the Turkish state and Turkish people went through. The language reform, definitely, represents the most significant reform and it can be said that PeyamiSafa was one of its most active participants. He comes from a respectable family where literature was not unfamiliar to them, since his father was a famous poet. For difficult material crises, he could not accomplish regular and qualitative education. His literature life lasted for incredible 43 years. He was a strong thinker and an extraordinary novelist. In his works, he dealt with moral, i.e. moral crises;he spoke on copying of the West and Western life style that caught the Turkish society at the time. He spoke French very well, to a level to be able to write a textbook on learning this language..

Development of a KBE application to support aerodynamic design and analysis: Towards a next-generation multi-model generator
The aviation industry faces a number of challenges: it needs to produce safer, quieter and more efficient aircraft to meet the demands of the airlines and increasingly strict regulations. At the same time, engineers are becoming more scarce because the retirement age of the `baby-boom generation' is approaching. The department of Systems Engineering and Aircraft Design (SEAD) at Delft University of Technology has been developing methods to support aircraft design in order to meet these challenges for the future. One example of such a method is a generic aircraft modeling application, based on Knowledge-Based Engineering (KBE) techniques, called a Multi-Model Generator (MMG). The ICAD system was used in the past to create such an MMG. Unfortunately, this system has been discontinued. To continue research in this area, there was a need at the SEAD research group to develop a new MMG. The research group has selected GDL as a new KBE system. This system has been used to develop a new MMG. By starting the development work of the MMG as a clean-sheet design, opportunities existed to improve the modeling capabilities of the MMG. One such improvement is the modeling of fully curved wings in a practical way. A wing design procedure has been developed which is intuitive to aircraft designers, based on the planform shape of the wing and its dihedral and twist distribution. Airfoils of any shape can be used in any orientation on the wing. Accurate wing surfaces can be created for several aircraft configurations, including unconventional ones like the box wing and blended wing-body (BWB). The MMG also offers the capability to produce consistent analysis models. The foundations for aerodynamic and structural analysis modules have been laid. For this thesis work, an interface to the 3D panel code VSaero has been developed and tested for clean wings. Procedures to model wings with moveables and 'intersected' wings (e.g. wings with a pylon or fin attached to them) have been developed. With the new MMG, a large reduction in design time can be achieved. It enables the designer to obtain more knowledge about a design in an early phase of its development and eliminates repetitive, non-creative tasks. This is a step towards the further development of unconventional aircraft configurations, which have the potential to become the aircraft for the future.Aerospace Design, Integration & OperationsAerospace Engineerin
Exploring dietary patterns and their association with environmental sustainability and body mass index in children and adolescents: Insights from the National Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey 20152016
Objective: To adapt four dietary patterns for children and adolescents, and study their associations with sustainability (greenhouse-gas emissions-GHGE and land use-LU), and health (body mass index-BMI) indicators. Research methods & procedures: Dietary intake of children (3-9y) and adolescents (10-17y) from the National Food, Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey 20152016, Portugal (n = 1153) was assessed through two non-consecutive interviews: one-day food diaries (children), and 24-h recalls (adolescents), using an automated multiple-pass method, including a picture book for portion sizes estimation. Adherence to the Eat-Lancet and World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations, Mediterranean and Atlantic diets were evaluated using adapted versions for pediatrics of the World Index for Sustainability and Health (WISH), Diet Quality Index (DQI), Mediterranean Diet Score (MDS) and Southern-European Atlantic Diet (SEAD), respectively. Diet-related GHGE and LU were estimated using the SHARP-Indicators database. BMI (measured) z-scores were classified according to WHO criteria. A standardized weighted health-sustainability composite index was created (BMI + 0.5*GHGE+0.5*LU). Adjusted linear regression models were computed. Results: WISH, DQI, MDS, and SEAD had weighted mean scores (range) of 50 (0130), 24 (936), 20 (832), and 17 (832), respectively. All dietary patterns were associated with lower environmental impact, particularly in children, but not with BMI. Only MDS explained both health and sustainability indicators in childhood (composite index: sd.ß = 0·223,95%CI:-0·347,-0·072,R2 = 25.1 %), and adolescence (composite index: sd.ß = 0·159,95%CI:-0·315,-0·003,R2 = 31.3 %). Conclusion: The Mediterranean diet was the most related to (higher) environmental sustainability and (lower) BMI. However, in children (not adolescents), the WISH, DQI, and SEAD showed then same associations. (c) 2024 The Author
The Space Farming Project: Space colonization, techno-agriculture and the future of extraterrestrial biopolitics
In order to sustain human life for extended periods of time in deep space one cannot solely rely on support from Earth. It'll be essential to become self-sustaining through a combination of in situ resource utilization, waste recycling, and space farming. The latter can provide astronauts and colonists with locally grown food and biogenic oxygen, and will be an indispensable component of any future outpost in deep space. The type of agriculture that will develop itself in outer space will be extremely technologically mediated because of limited resources and the hostile conditions in which crops have to be cultivated. From a biopolitics perspective, this will cause a significant shift in power relations. Because of the extreme dependence on technology, the lack of open reservoirs (e.g., no atmosphere), and an atomized commodification of life-supporting resources (every molecule is valuable), space colonists will live in a world in which they are potentially vulnerable to inequalities, power concentrations, and even coercion. Historically, colonization and agriculture have always worked with each other. But in the unparalleled conditions of space, this dialectic relationship is bound to take on new contours, with its own unique set of ideologies and ethical ramifications. The 'Space Farming Project' is an art project that specifically addresses these issues. It was initiated by the international SEAD collective, developed in collaboration with Gluon and Howest, and supported by the Flemish Government. Together with a diverse community of volunteering technologists, agricultural researchers, teachers, and students, different space biology prototypes have been developed: a centrifuge for plant cultivation in space, a microgravity simulator, and experiments with spirulina algae and edible callus tissue. These are the central components of a larger art installation that also features visual and discursive references to the history and future of colonization, and its entwinement with agriculture. In this paper, the conceptual background of the 'Space Farming Project' is described, together with its development process and the resulting prototypes. The future of the project, with potential experiments on board the ISS, is also discussed.System Engineerin
