No full textIl volume, dedicato al tema delle lingue in contatto in prospettiva sia individuale sia comunitaria, contiene studi relativi all’analisi di fenomeni linguistici e repertori in diversi tipi di situazioni di contatto e in diverse prospettive, idealmente raggruppabili in tre sezioni: un primo gruppo di ricerche riguarda il ruolo, gli effetti e la percezione del contatto linguistico in comunità italiane storicamente plurilingui; un secondo gruppo riguarda il contatto linguistico in contesti migratori, con riferimento sia a parlanti di origine italiana emigrati all’estero, sia a parlanti di origine non italiana presenti in Italia; un terzo gruppo, infine, introduce la scuola e l’università come contesto di apprendimento di lingue seconde

No full textThe article aims to provide a quantitative analysis of the evolution of the plurilingual repertory of two German-speaking linguistic islands in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The main objective of the analysis is to assess what are the determining factors in the development of their respective repertoires, building on the basic observation that the two communities share some historical and social characteristics while few yet crucial differences can be singled out. The two communities under investigation are Sauris/Zahre and Timau/Tischlbong; in the past decades these two German enclaves have attracted the attention of scholars in relation to both the ‘internal’ features of the respective Germanic (southern Bavarians) varieties and to the dynamics existing between the codes used within the communities, that is, the local
German dialects, the regional language (Friulian) and the standard language (Italian). The article analyzes the development in the relationships between these varieties building on a sociolinguistic investigation whose results are compared with previous inquiries
Valutazione dei prerequisiti della letto-scrittura in bambini monolingui e bilingui nella scuola italiana
No full textLa conoscenza dei prerequisiti linguistici, metalinguistici e cognitivi della letto-scrittura può aiutare a prevenire possibili difficoltà programmando interventi di potenziamento tempestivi. Allo stesso tempo, la conoscenza delle differenze evolutive fra bambini monolingui e bilingui nello sviluppo delle diverse abilità di prerequisito permette una valutazione consapevole, che può consentire di distinguere le normali difficoltà dovute alla ridotta esposizione all’input italiano da problemi che potrebbero invece richiedere una valutazione in sede clinica. Tuttavia, gli studi longitudinali sui prerequisiti dell’alfabetizzazione, in particolare della scrittura, sono scarsissimi e in gran parte dedicati alla lingua inglese e alla popolazione monolingue. Il presente studio longitudinale ha investigato se è possibile individuare precocemente le difficoltà di letto-scrittura attraverso la segnalazione precoce degli insegnanti e se tale segnalazione risulta efficace nel caso dei bambini bilingui di famiglie migranti inseriti nella scuola italiana. Le abilità linguistiche, metafonologiche, di denominazione rapida automatizzata (RAN) e memoria a breve termine di 49 bambini (29 monolingui+20 bilingui di famiglie migranti con diverse lingue materne) sono state monitorate per 3 anni, dall’ultimo anno di scuola dell’infanzia alla 2a primaria (N=36) e dalla 1a alla 3a primaria (N=13). Alle famiglie è stato somministrato un questionario per la rilevazione delle caratteristiche personali e del contesto di crescita dei bambini; alle insegnanti sono state somministrate le sezioni riguardanti le abilità linguistiche, (meta)cognitive e di prealfabetizzazione dei questionari osservativi per l’Identificazione Precoce delle Difficoltà d’Apprendimento (IPDA) (Terreni et al., 2011). Giunti in 2a/3a primaria, 19 bambini sono risultati sotto la norma in diverse aree della letto-scrittura. La segnalazione delle insegnanti si è rivelata il primo passo per l’individuazione precoce di tali difficoltà. Sono però emersi problemi nella valutazione dei bambini bilingui per una generale tendenza alla sovra-estensione delle categorie linguistiche alle abilità (meta)cognitive. È perciò necessario validare strumenti adeguati alla valutazione dei diversi prerequisiti in modo discreto, indipendentemente dalle lingue materne degli studenti. A tal fine, è auspicabile una collaborazione fra clinici e linguisti specializzati. È inoltre opportuno prevedere una formazione specifica degli insegnanti nella valutazione e nel potenziamento precoce dei prerequisiti della letto-scrittura, che segua le tappe naturali dello sviluppo delle abilità (meta)linguistiche

Full text linkQuesto articolo affronta il tema dei marcatori discorsivi nello slavo molisano, una lingua minoritaria in contatto prolungato con le varietà romanze della stessa area. In questo contributo si propongono i risultati di una prima indagine, basata su dati qualitativi. Dopo una brevissima introduzione alla classe dei marcatori di discorso anche nei repertori plurilingui, si analizza l'uso di alcune forme corrispondenti all'italiano 'ma', 'dopo' ,'e', 'allora' con l'intento di evidenziare il ruolo che il contatto linguistico ha giocato nell'organizzazione delle loro funzioni.This article deals with the topic of discourse markers in the Slavic of Molise, a minority lan- guage in prolonged contact with romance varieties of the same area. In this contribution, I propose the results of an initial survey, based on qualitative data. After a very short introduc- tion of the class of discourse markers also in multilingual repertoires, I will focus on the use of some forms corresponding to the Italian ma ‘but’, poi ‘later’, e ‘and’, allora ‘then’ with the intention of highlighting the role that the linguistic contact has played in the organization of their function
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Full text linkWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
