A Practical Model to Perform Comprehensive Cybersecurity Audits
These days organizations are continually facing being targets of cyberattacks and cyberthreats; the sophistication and complexity of modern cyberattacks and the modus operandi of cybercriminals including Techniques, Tactics and Procedures (TTP) keep growing at unprecedented rates. Cybercriminals are always adopting new strategies to plan and launch cyberattacks based on existing cybersecurity vulnerabilities and exploiting end users by using social engineering techniques. Cybersecurity audits are extremely important to verify that information security controls are in place and to detect weaknesses of inexistent cybersecurity or obsolete controls. This article presents an innovative and comprehensive cybersecurity audit model. The CyberSecurity Audit Model (CSAM) can be implemented to perform internal or external cybersecurity audits. This model can be used to perform single cybersecurity audits or can be part of any corporate audit program to improve cybersecurity controls. Any information security or cybersecurity audit team has either the options to perform a full audit for all cybersecurity domains or by selecting specific domains to audit certain areas that need control verification and hardening. The CSAM has 18 domains; Domain 1 is specific for Nation States and Domains 2-18 can be implemented at any organization. The organization can be any small, medium or large enterprise, the model is also applicable to any Non-Profit Organization (NPO).En la actualidad, las organizaciones se enfrentan continuamente a ser blanco de ciberataques y amenazas cibernéticas; la sofisticación y complejidad de los ciberataques modernos y el modus operandi de los ciberdelincuentes, incluidas las Técnicas, Tácticas y Procedimientos (TTP), continúan creciendo a un ritmo sin precedentes. Cualquier equipo de auditoría de seguridad de la información o ciberseguridad tiene la opción de aplicaruna auditoría completa para todos los dominios de ciberseguridad o seleccionando dominios específicos para auditar ciertas áreas que necesitan verificación y fortalecimiento del control. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Audits in cybersecurity: A model of general application for companies and nations
Este artículo presenta los resultados de un estudio de implementación y validación del Modelo de Auditoría de Ciberseguridad (CSAM), en un estudio de casos múltiples en una universidad canadiense. Se propone que el modelo se utilice para adelantar auditorías de ciberseguridad en cualquier organización o nación, y así evaluar la seguridad, su madurez y la preparación frente a la seguridad cibernética. De igual forma, detectar las necesidades para acrecentar la conciencia cibernética a nivel organizacional y personal. CSAM se ha probado, implementado y validado en tres escenarios de investigación (1) Auditoría de todos los dominios del modelo, (2) Auditoría de varios dominios y (3) una auditoría de un único dominio. El artículo concluye detallando información relevante para la toma de decisiones futuras con el fin de ajustar las limitaciones de ciberseguridad identificadas, mejorar sus dominios y controles, y de esta manera, implementar y probar de manera eficiente este modelo en cualquier organización o país.This article presents the results of an implementation and validation study of the Cybersecurity Audit Model (CSAM), in a multiple case study at a Canadian university. It is proposed that the model be used to advance cybersecurity audits in any organization or nation to assess security, its maturity, and preparedness for cybersecurity. Similarly, identify needs to increase cybersecurity awareness at the organizational and personal levels. CSAM has been tested, implemented and validated in three investigation scenarios (1) Audit of all model domains, (2) Audit of several domains and (3) an audit of a single domain. The article concludes by detailing relevant information for future decision making in order to adjust the identified cybersecurity limitations, improve their domains and controls, and thus efficiently implement and test this model in any organization or country
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
