A PARALLEL LOOP SCHEDULING ALGORITHM BASED ON THE SMARANDACHE f-INFERIOR PART FUNCTION
This article presents an application of the inferior Smarandache f-part
function to a particular parallel loop-scheduling problem. The product between
an upper diagonal matrix and a vector is analysed from parallel computation
point of view. An efficient solution for this problem is given by using the
inferior Smarandache I-part function. Finally, the efficiency of our solution is
proved experimentally by presenting some computational results

Fusion d'information et risques naturels en montagne
[Departement_IRSTEA]Eaux [TR1_IRSTEA]RIVAGEInternational audienceFrom a real case application based on snow-avalanche risk management, an integrated framework mixing evidential reasoning and multi-criteria decision analysis (ER-MCDA) is proposed. This methodology considers a simplified decision sorting problem based on qualitative and quantitative criteria on which more or less reliable sources provide uncertain and imprecise evaluations. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used both to model the problem in a conceptual way and to elicit preferences between key criteria. Fuzzy Sets and Possibilities theories are used to transform quantitative and qualitative criteria into a common frame for Dempster-Shafer Theory (DST) and Dezert-Smarandache Theory (DSmT). It is shown that DSmT offers an interesting framework to take incomplete information into account and we use it for decision-making. Evidential reasoning allows merging different uncertain and incomplete pieces of information to identify the sensitivity of an avalanche prone area and to determine an avalanche hazard map. This approach emphasizes some implementation guidelines based on a Unified Modeling Language (UML) of the problem. We point out also some important issues of information fusion such as basic belief assignment elicitation, conflict identification, fusion rules choice and results validation.A partir d'un cas d'application relatif à la gestion du risque d'avalanche, cet article propose une méthodologie intégrée (notée ER-MCDA pour Evidential Reasoning and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis ) associant l'aide multi-critères à la décision et le raisonnnement crédibiliste. Cette approche considère un exemple de problème de décision basé sur des critères sur lesquels des sources plus ou moins fiables proposent des évaluations imprécises et incertaines. L'analyse multicritères hiérarchique (AHP) est utilisée comme un support conceptuel pour modéliser le problème et pour expliciter les préférences entre les critères essentiels. Les théories des ensembles flous et des possibilités sont utilisées pour transformer des critères quantitatifs et qualitatifs dans un cadre commun de discernement correspondant aux théories de Dempster-Shafer (DST) et Dezert-Smarandache (DSmT). La DSmT apparaît comme un cadre particulièrement pertinent et nous l'utilisons ici dans le cadre de l'aide à la décision. Le raisonnement crédibiliste permet en effet de combiner différentes informations incertaines et incomplètes pour déterminer la sensibilité d'un site avalancheux et contribue à la définition des cartes de l'aléa avalanche. Quelques recommandations d'implémentation sont proposées au travers d'une modélisation UML (Unified Modeling Language) du problème. Quelques verrous particuliers sont identifiés : il s'agit notamment de l'explicitation des masses de croyance, l'identification des conflits, le choix des règles de fusion et la validation des résultats

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
