Representing Roomates' Preferences with Symmetric Utilities
In the context of the stable roommates problem, it is shown that acyclicity of preferences is equivalent to the existence of symmetric utility functions, i.e. the utility of agent i when matched with j is the same as j 's utility when matched with i .
Abstract: The study of the present time has granted the professionals in History area some contact with otherwise less studied subjects, either because they were too recent or to specific of their era, which is the case of AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). Studying the history of diseases that spread during these times has become a possibility. AIDS was recognized for the first time in the United States during 1980 and it revealed itself as a source of discourses about not only the health state of its patients but also about their sexuality and the use of injectable drugs. Scientific and religious reasoning were used to explain the growing illness. Also the journalistic speech did not give the public mere information about the disease but it created a specific discourse about it, influencing in the constitution of the carriers of HIV/AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus/ Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). As the city of Criciúma, in the state of Santa Catarina/Brazil, grew as an urban area it did not keep immune to this disease, which was first defined as a characteristic illness of those who were homosexual, used injectable drugs and/or traveled abroad frequently. In 1985, even before the first registered case in the city, the newspapers already proclaimed AIDS to be a danger. To understand the historical narrative created by the newspapers I have decided to study two information means: Jornal da Manhã and Tribuna Criciumense. This way I was able to identify, analyze and relate how the illness and the ill person were created by the journalistic discourse, especially those conveyed through newspapers. Analyzing discourse and rebuilding the narrative was not enough: I wanted to understand how the ill person was formed as a subject, how they built their subjectivity after the disease and what was told about them. After all, the discourse did not give mere information about the sickness but it referred to the body of its carrier, therefore it was also about their identity. Thus the rebuilding of the narrative was based on the pages of the newspaper to identify what the medical and the religious discourse were saying inside the journalistic speech about the illness and its carrier. Interviews conveyed by me with patients that received their diagnostics during the period of this study were another method of research employed to understand how their subjectivity was formed. The oral and written sources were chosen according to a period of time and a location defined to this study, both arbitrary factors, since Criciúma, as any city, is not limited by its geographic borders. The time was determined as the period starting in 1986, the year of the first notified case of AIDS in the city, and finishing in 1996, year in which the famous drug cocktail started to be distributed through the city public health system. The medicine served to change the disease status to something that was possible to be treated and the ill person as someone who was able to live a quality life
Praebythoceratina trinodosa Antonietto & Carmo & Viviers & Neto & Hunt 2016, comb. nov.
Praebythoceratina trinodosa (Alexander, 1934) comb. nov. Fig. 6 K–M Monoceratina trinodosa Alexander, 1934: p. 64, fig. 8.10. New material examined BRAZIL: São José 1 outcrop, Riachuelo Municipality, Sergipe State (samples MP-1550, MP-1552 to MP-1554, MP-1558, MP-1563 to MP-1565, MP-1571 and MP-1574 to MP-1576), approximate coordinates 10°44' S, 37°13' W. Type locality and stratum Fort Worth, Texas, United States; Weno Formation, upper Albian. Measurements Homeotype (CP-690): carapace: length = 0.42 mm, height = 0.22 mm, width = 0.22 mm. Homeotype (CP-691): right valve: length = 0.47 mm, height = 0.25 mm. Homeotype (CP-692): left valve: length = 0.48 mm, height = 0.22 mm. Homeotype (CP-693): right valve: length = 0.49 mm, height = 0.24 mm. Remarks The generic identification follows Becker (1990), while the specific follows Alexander (1934). Despite being poorly preserved, the holotype of Praebythoceratina trinodosa (Alexander, 1934) comb. nov. presents typical morphological traits that are not common in other Early Cretaceous bythocytherid species – a postero-dorsal tubercle over the lateral u-shaped inflation and the presence of reticulate ornamentation at the central area that slightly fades along adjacent areas – but observable in the present specimens. Compared to P. amsittenensis comb. nov., P. trinodosa comb. nov. is more slender in lateral view and presents more developed antero-dorsal and postero-dorsal tubercles. Paleoecology and distribution Praebythoceratina trinodosa comb. nov. is a marine, shelf species occurring in the following localities and stages: United States, upper Albian (Alexander 1934); and in the present work, Angico and Taquari Members, Riachuelo Formation, Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, Brazil, uppermost Aptian–lower Albian, Aracajuia benderi zone (MSA-0), Sergipella viviersae subzone (MSA-0.2).Published as part of Antonietto, Lucas Silveira, Carmo, Dermeval Aparecido do, Viviers, Marta Claudia, Neto, João Villar Queiroz & Hunt, Gene, 2016, Ostracoda (Arthropoda, Crustacea) from the Riachuelo Formation, Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, Brazil, Upper Aptian-Albian, pp. 1-57 in European Journal of Taxonomy 244 on pages 25-26, DOI: 10.5852/ejt.2016.244, http://zenodo.org/record/385062

Type locality and age Sample no. 202, Btater Village, Bhamdoun Town, Lebanon; Albian. Measurements Homeotype (CP-668): ♀, carapace: length = 0.56 mm, height = 0.30 mm, width = 0.20 mm. Homeotype (CP-669): ♀, right valve: length = 0.55 mm, height = 0.28 mm. Remarks Cytherella besrineensis (Bischoff, 1964) comb. nov. was initially assigned by Bischoff (1964) to the genus Cytherelloidea, although it did not present any ridge on its lateral surface, which is diagnostic of that genus (Alexander 1929). Therefore, we transfer it to Cytherella, based on ornamentation similarities. Paleoecology and distribution Cytherella besrineensis comb. nov. is a marine, shelf species occurring in the following localities and stages: Talme Yafe, Rama, Telamim and Yavne Shales Formations, Levantine Basin, Israel, Aptian– Albian (Rosenfeld & Raab 1983; Honigstein et al. 1985); Levantine Basin, Lebanon, Aptian–Albian (Bischoff 1964); and Angico Member, Riachuelo Formation, Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, Brazil, middle Albian, Praebythoceratina amsittenensis subzone (MSA-0.3) (Viviers et al. 2000); in the present work, also in the Taquari and Maruim Members, uppermost Aptian–Albian, Aracajuia benderi (MSA- 0) – Sergipella viviersae (MSA-0.2), Praebythoceratina amsittenensis (MSA-0.3) and Reticulocosta edrianae (MSA-0.4) subzones – and Aracajuia antiqua (MSA-1) zones.Published as part of Antonietto, Lucas Silveira, Carmo, Dermeval Aparecido do, Viviers, Marta Claudia, Neto, João Villar Queiroz & Hunt, Gene, 2016, Ostracoda (Arthropoda, Crustacea) from the Riachuelo Formation, Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, Brazil, Upper Aptian-Albian, pp. 1-57 in European Journal of Taxonomy 244 on pages 10-11, DOI: 10.5852/ejt.2016.244, http://zenodo.org/record/385062

Remarks The specific diagnosis follows Rosenfeld & Raab (1983). The family Bythocytheridae has been thoroughly reviewed by Gründel & Kozur (1972), Schornikov (1990) and Schornikov & Mikhailova (1990), who restricted the range of Monoceratina Roth, 1934 to the Devonian–Permian. Therefore, the present authors reassign Patellacythere shimonensis comb. nov. to Patellacythere from Monoceratina Roth, 1928, based on both morphologic and biostratigraphical affinities. Paleoecology and distribution Patellacythere shimonensis comb. nov. is a marine, shelf to neritic species occurring in the following localities and stages: Madiéla Formation, Gabon Basin, Gabon, upper Aptian–lower Albian (Grosdidier 1979); Talme Yafe Formation, Levantine Basin, Israel, Albian (Rosenfeld & Raab 1983); and Angico Member, Riachuelo Formation, Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, Brazil, uppermost Aptian–lower Albian (Viviers et al. 2000); in the present work, extended to the Taquari Member, although restricted to the Aracajuia benderi zone (MSA-0), Sergipella viviersae subzone (MSA-0.2).Published as part of Antonietto, Lucas Silveira, Carmo, Dermeval Aparecido do, Viviers, Marta Claudia, Neto, João Villar Queiroz & Hunt, Gene, 2016, Ostracoda (Arthropoda, Crustacea) from the Riachuelo Formation, Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, Brazil, Upper Aptian-Albian, pp. 1-57 in European Journal of Taxonomy 244 on page 26, DOI: 10.5852/ejt.2016.244, http://zenodo.org/record/385062

Remarks The generic identification is based on Becker (1990), while the specific follows Andreu-Boussut (1991). Some of the specimens from the Aptian of Gabon identified by Grosdidier (1979) as “ Patellacythere ” GA E 27 belong to this species, while others are related to Patellacythere shimonensis (Rosenfeld & Raab, 1983) comb. nov. Bythoceratina ? sp. P 1 in Viviers et al. (2000) probably also belongs to the present species, but it is not possible to fully confirm this, as the figured specimen is poorly preserved. Paleoecology and distribution Praebythoceratina amsittenensis comb. nov. is a marine, shelf species occurring in the following localities and stages: Madiéla Formation, Gabon Basin, Gabon, upper Aptian–lower Albian (Grosdidier 1979); Oued Tidsi Formation, Morocco,Albian (Andreu-Boussut 1991); and Taquari Member, Riachuelo Formation, Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, Brazil, uppermost Aptian–middle Albian, Aracajuia benderi zone (MSA-0), Sergipella viviersae (MSA-0.2) and Praebythoceratina amsittenensis (MSA-0.3) subzones.Published as part of Antonietto, Lucas Silveira, Carmo, Dermeval Aparecido do, Viviers, Marta Claudia, Neto, João Villar Queiroz & Hunt, Gene, 2016, Ostracoda (Arthropoda, Crustacea) from the Riachuelo Formation, Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, Brazil, Upper Aptian-Albian, pp. 1-57 in European Journal of Taxonomy 244 on pages 24-25, DOI: 10.5852/ejt.2016.244, http://zenodo.org/record/385062
