La questione docente: identità, formazione, sviluppo professionale
Get PDFDopo aver fatto un attento excursus storico-sociologico sulle ricerche effettuate negli ultimi quarant’anni relative al mondo degli insegnanti, la ricerca analizza attentamente i concetti di stress, stress lavorativo e burnout, con riferimento, in particolare, alla professione docente. Partendo dal presupposto che lo stress lavorativo ed il burnout sono fenomeni che colpiscono principalmente i lavoratori delle cosiddette helping professions, ci si chiede se le cause di questa condizione di malessere siano legate alle caratteristiche personali dell’individuo, alle sue modalità di reagire alle pressioni esterne, al suo senso di autoefficacia, o piuttosto alle caratteristiche del contesto lavorativo in cui agisce.
Perché il burnout, un tempo legato soprattutto alle professioni sanitarie, oggi pare affliggere così pesantemente il contesto scolastico? Esiste una relazione tra i profondi cambiamenti verificatisi nell’ultimo quarantennio nell’ambito scolastico, e nelle richieste della società in generale, e l’attuale condizione di crisi vissuta dagli insegnanti? Se il burnout è così diffuso e così potenzialmente dannoso non solo per l’individuo, ma anche per l’organizzazione di cui fa parte, si può supporre che la comprensione chiara delle cause di disagio possa al contempo costituire, se non una soluzione, almeno una pista da seguire per il funzionamento più efficace di un’istituzione scolastica?
Una corretta analisi della questione docente non può prescindere, dunque, da una lettura in chiave organizzativa della scuola, necessaria per osservarla non soltanto dal punto di vista dei processi pedagogici e didattici, ma anche dal punto di vista della gestione delle risorse e del personale, dell’organizzazione delle attività, dell’individuazione di modelli e strategie di governo, delle relazioni interne ed esterne. Per questo si è ritenuto necessario approfondire il concetto di cultura organizzativa e analizzare i modelli organizzativi cui la scuola si è ispirata nel passato e, soprattutto, quelli che la contraddistinguono nel presente. L’esposizione delle varie teorie organizzative, da quelle più lontane nel tempo a quelle più recenti e innovative, è servita, tra l’atro, a sottolineare il graduale passaggio nella scuola da una forma di organizzazione prevalentemente razionale e rigidamente scientifica (Taylor) ad una più squisitamente soggettiva (Schein).
I radicali cambiamenti in atto nella società e nella scuola richiedono, dunque, una ridefinizione critica della professionalità docente, legata all’affermazione di nuovi modelli di professionismo anche di tipo organizzativo, collegiale e manageriale. Si fa strada, così, la rappresentazione di un insegnante come professionista dell’educazione e della formazione, capace di autoregolarsi, di accettare sfide, di assumere delle responsabilità, di confrontarsi con i problemi e di prendere in carico gli interessi del “cliente”, diventando, in altre parole, imprenditore di se stesso. Il
cambiamento riguarda la trasformazione del ruolo dell’insegnante sia nell’aula che fuori. La scuola va considerata come una vera e propria organizzazione, una comunità di professionisti la cui efficacia formativa cresce e si rafforza se esiste un insieme di valori condivisi cui fare riferimento, se opera attraverso la collaborazione ed il lavoro coordinato e se è in grado di socializzare le buone pratiche didattiche.
La qualità della scuola non dipende, tuttavia, solo dall’efficienza organizzativa, dalla disponibilità di risorse economiche, dalla modernità degli strumenti didattici o delle materie insegnate, ma è strettamente connessa anche ai modelli relazionali messi in atto dagli insegnanti, dai dirigenti e da tutti coloro i quali vi operano. La competenza relazionale è la capacità di gestire la complessità interpersonale, di attivare la comunicazione nelle varie direzioni, di negoziare i conflitti, di non manipolare le persone spacciando i propri interessi come interessi superiori dell’organizzazione. Essa consente di tener conto non solo dei compiti ma anche delle persone e di evitare che possano essere ridotte esclusivamente a “risorse” o “cose”. La collaborazione tra colleghi va perseguita non solo per motivi moralistici, ma anche per motivi pragmatici, essendo uno strumento fondamentale per il buon funzionamento istituzionale.
Strettamente connesso alla questione docente è il tema della valutazione, intesa come valutazione dell’apporto dato dal docente alla scuola e come valorizzazione stessa del docente. Non si può delineare la nuova identità docente senza partire dalla consapevolezza della inevitabile inscindibilità del valore che riveste l’operato del singolo docente rispetto alla qualità e all’efficacia del funzionamento generale di un’intera istituzione scolastica. La valutazione del servizio scolastico è il frutto dell’apporto che ciascun docente dà all’istituzione in termini di qualità, per questo non può darsi una proficua definizione della funzione docente senza un contemporaneo confronto con quanto ci si aspetta, attraverso l’enunciazione di precisi indicatori di qualità, dall’erogazione di un servizio eccellente
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
