If the process of teaching is fuelled by a top-down approach i.e; imposed on the teacher , the situation wich arises in an on-going routinised way of teaching with makes the teacher resist to all kind of change or innovation .it .is, now, common knowledge that in-service trainings, to which teachers are subjected; do not bring about change and satisfaction.hereby , the new post-method approach, teaching education development has proved to be an effective approach to teaching which triggers the teacher to change his beliefs and assumptions by reflecting and articulating his teaching;and, hence, achieve, better results with his learners

An interview with Abdellatif Laâbi in 1981. Testimony of an Era

    No full text
In the summer of 2025, I came across a copy of an interview with the Moroccan poet Abdellatif Laâbi, conducted shortly after his release from prison. Recorded in February 1981 in Rabat, the interview was never published and was found inside a copy of one of the poet\u27s books on my bookshelf. It discussed his poetic and political experiences, and, given the originality of his responses and the insight they offered into a significant period of his creative life, I thought it would be worthwhile to publish the interview, provided the author gave his consent. After consulting Laâbi himself, he gave me the green light for publication. The result is this interview, accompanied by a preliminary note providing context.

Investigating Algerian EFL Teachers\u27 Attitudes Towards AI Utilization in Language Education

    No full text
Artificial Intelligence is changing the landscape of education significantly, and therefore, language teaching and learning. Its incorporation in the latter is manifested through the use of various artificial intelligence-based platforms, applications, and chatbots such as Chatgpt. These tools and artificial intelligence-based platforms are not used solely for teaching and learning but for teachers\u27 training and enhancing professional development, including Edthena, Cogni, TeachMate AI, Teach Boost, and Classcraft.  Relatively, the use of these AI tools offers multiple features such as speech recognition, image, media, and content production, creating personalised learning opportunities, facilitating communication, and saving time and energy. Accordingly, teachers\u27 attitudes toward the use of artificial intelligence tools in language teaching and learning vary due to various reasons. Therefore, this paper seeks to explore teachers\u27 attitudes towards the use of artificial intelligence tools in language teaching and learning. Furthermore, it aims to highlight the impact of using artificial intelligence on language teaching and learning. The research follows a quantitative methodology through the use of an online semi-structured questionnaire for data collection, consisting of open-ended and close-ended questions. The latter was distributed to 200 Algerian EFL teachers. The results reveal that teachers have a positive attitude toward the use of artificial intelligence. However, teachers point out the possible issues that may arise from the use of AI in education, such as the change in teachers\u27 roles

Reinforcement Learning for Intelligent Healthcare Systems: A Review of Challenges, Applications, and Open Research Issues

    No full text
The rise of chronic disease patients and the pandemic pose immediate threats to healthcare expenditure and mortality rates. This calls for transforming healthcare systems away from one-on-one patient treatment into intelligent health systems, leveraging the recent advances of Internet of Things and smart sensors. Meanwhile, reinforcement learning (RL) has witnessed an intrinsic breakthrough in solving a variety of complex problems for distinct applications and services. Thus, this article presents a comprehensive survey of the recent models and techniques of RL that have been developed/used for supporting Intelligent-healthcare (I-health) systems. It can guide the readers to deeply understand the state-of-the-art regarding the use of RL in the context of I-health. Specifically, we first present an overview of the I-health systems' challenges, architecture, and how RL can benefit these systems. We then review the background and mathematical modeling of different RL, deep RL (DRL), and multiagent RL models. We highlight important guidelines on how to select the appropriate RL model for a given problem, and provide quantitative comparisons, showing the results of deploying key RL models in two scenarios that can be followed in monitoring applications. After that, we conduct an in-depth literature review on RL's applications in I-health systems, covering edge intelligence, smart core network, and dynamic treatment regimes. Finally, we highlight emerging challenges and future research directions to enhance RL's success in I-health systems, which opens the door for exploring some interesting and unsolved problems.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Networked System

    No full text
Barthes’s 1967 critical essay “The Death of the Author” addresses the power of the author in reading and analyzing writing, and the power of the reader and the option to ignore the work’s background and focus more on the work itself. Barthes throws the emphasis away from an all-knowing, unified, intending subject as the site of production and on to language. He argues that writing destroys every voice and point of origin. This is because it occurs within a functional process which is the practice of signification itself. Its real origin is language. A writer, therefore, does not have a special genius expressed in the text, but rather, is a kind of craftsman who is skilled in using a particular code. The text is not the product of the author, a particular unitary and discrete subject, but emerges from a particular and unrepeatable nexus within a discursive formation

Estimation of Copulas via Maximum Mean Discrepancy

    No full text
This article deals with robust inference for parametric copula models. Estimation using canonical maximum likelihood might be unstable, especially in the presence of outliers. We propose to use a procedure based on the maximum mean discrepancy (MMD) principle. We derive nonasymptotic oracle inequalities, consistency and asymptotic normality of this new estimator. In particular, the oracle inequality holds without any assumption on the copula family, and can be applied in the presence of outliers or under misspecification. Moreover, in our MMD framework, the statistical inference of copula models for which there exists no density with respect to the Lebesgue measure on (Formula presented.), as the Marshall-Olkin copula, becomes feasible. A simulation study shows the robustness of our new procedures, especially compared to pseudo-maximum likelihood estimation. An R package implementing the MMD estimator for copula models is available. Supplementary materials for this article are available online.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Statistic

The research is concerned with the study and investigation of a manuscript of a treatise in the statement of issues in the interpretation of Manjam Bashi Ahmed bin Lutfullah Mawlawi, which can be considered as an entry point for beginners starting with the science of interpretation as stipulated by his author in the introduction, which is especially important in that it is one of two works - in addition to his footnotes on the interpretation of El Baydhawi – Through which it is possible to prove the emergence of Manjam Bashi not only as a historian, writer and Sufi poet, but as an experienced interpreter and scholar, familiar with the depths and details of this science, which is neglected and overlooked up to being totally unstated in most and eventually all of the previous studies and works that contained several serious and imperative gaps. Through the first chapter of the study section, the focus was on political, social and religious cultural properties of the author's era during his life till his death, while considering the name of Manjam Bashi, which was erroneously cited in the titles of some Arab studies and articles, as well as to examine and investigate the names of his instructors and their biographies and also his disciples and murids who were not mentioned before in any previous study, as well as the cataloguing of his writings with the statement of the overlapping between their titles. An update of the whereabouts of the manuscripts and what has been edited and what is still waiting. All this has been done in comprehensive biography that did not forget the mention of the era of the author and his suffering and scientific and professional stages, and, of course, his birth, growth till his death. From the author to the book, we sought to prove the title of the book, which itself was wrongly attributed and we proved what was right after long and deep investigation to prove the authenticity of his attribution to the author and the date of his writing to get back later to mention the reason behind his authorship, motive, sources and methodology of collecting its references, following the method of those who opted for short versions and then to his doctrine and his interpretive positions through the book such as his defence of the Sufi revelatory interpretations and distinguish them from the esoteric and inventive interpretations and others. We furnished this second chapter devoted to the author with the academic value of the book and our approach to its editing, supported by descriptions copies of the manuscript with samples. We ended our study with a conclusion where we mentioned the most important research outcomes including results and recommendations. The second section included the editing of treatise of the message which treated research questions in the science of interpretation and its ten foundations as well as the meaning of interpretation and the difference between interpretation and explanation, the meaning of nadhm and separator and what may and may not be said about the Quran and its verses and then on the terms of the interpreter, the terms of interpretation and their manners as well as related topics to be concluded by mentioning the most prominent layers of interpreters till the end of the seventh layer and the specificity of the interpretations in each layer in a brief summarized way with selected texts from Al Itkan of Suyuti and its criticism
