L’utilizzo del computer nella riabilitazione implanto-protesica delle edentulie parziali e totali
The use of computer in implant dentistry: from treatment planning to prosthetics.
The purpose of this study is to give a current overview about computer-aided planning/surgery and CAD/CAM prosthetic procedures. Explicative cases treated with these techniques are presented. The first case regards a patient (male, 55 years old), totally edentolous at the upper arch, who was scheduled for a fixed implant-supported rehabilitation. The insertion of 5 implants was planned using a dedicated software (FacilitateTM) on the basis of a CT exam and a radiopaque scan prosthesis. Flapless surgery was guided by a CAD-CAM customized surgical template. A complete resin-made temporary denture was immediately connected to the implants.
The second case regards a patient (female, 35 years old), affected by single edentulism in site 1.2. A GBR procedure was made 8 months before implant placement. Implant insertion was performed by a manufactured template obtained through a computer-aided planning. Provisional restoration was connected to the implant 3 months later and suitably modified to condition periimplant soft tissues. Finally, the case was finalized by means of a customized CAD-CAM zirconia abutment (Atlantis Virtual Abutment DesignTM) and a zirconia-ceramic definitive crown.
Systems of computer-aided surgical planning offer a concrete help in the definition and execution of the treatment plan, allowing a highly precise implant positioning and reducing risks of operative complications. In this way, they also facilitate the employment of innovative techniques, such as flapless surgery and immediate implant loading.
The use of CAD/CAM customized implant abutments minimizes chair- and lab- operative time and increases the choice of manufacture materials compared to conventional customized abutments. Computer-aided surgical and prosthodontic procedures represent a promising innovation in implant dentistry, and have the potential for a widespread diffusion in alternative to conventional techniques
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Multiple Cementoblastoma: A Rare Case Report
Benign cementoblastoma is a rare ectomesenchymal odontogenic tumor that originates from the root of the tooth and that is characterized by the formation of cementum-like tissue. A 60-year old man was referred to us complaining of pain in his right jaw. The patient underwent TC dental scan of the mandible, which highlighted the presence of three well-circumscribed, round, unilocular neoformations of radiopaque appearance with a radiotransparent edge, one of which was in close contact with the roots of the lower right second molar. Microscopic examination of the greater sample consisted, in its central portion, of dense mineralized acellular trabeculae of basophilic tissue cement-like, devoid of vessels, adhering to the root of the tooth, while peripherally was observed a zone of vascularized osteoid surrounded, occasionally, by a thin rim of cementoblasts mixed with fibrous tissue and inflammatory elements. This lesion was diagnosed as cementoblastoma. The second lesion appeared radiologically and histologically entirely identical to cementoblastoma, but it did not show the intimate association with the root of involved tooth. After a careful review of the literature, the diagnosis of residual cementoblastoma was made. The clinicopathologic features, treatment, and prognosis of this rare tumor are here discussed for the young dental practitioner
