[Articles] The Integral regional division of Ukraine and its composing regions
本稿は平成27年度に京都大学大学院人間・環境学研究科に提出した修士論文の内容を一部修正したものである。At first, compares some social-economic regional divisions of Ukraine and by analyzing this, it is obvious that in six regions exists strong commonality. In the next unit, determining oblast as a unit, the author does regional division by each items, in other words by physical, demographical, natural-resource, industrial, and linguistic, using thematic maps in the atlas or statistics. Six cities are determined as a core city, in which lives more than 500 thousand people. Then overlays five color maps, what have same transparency, and finds commonality of oblasts by similarity of color. As a result, Ukraine is divided by six regions: Western, Central, Southern, South-eastern, North-eastern, and Eastern regions. Western region is composed by three subregions. Next the author writes about every divided region, and mentions about relationship with big regions or Ukraine. Finally, it is obvious that in Ukraine exist some various regions, not only two regions, and in this area exists the comparison of strong common periphery and not-integrated center. Future issues are analyzing place names of big regions in Ukraine, and comprehending formulation process of Ukrainian regions
Conversion of Light Propagation Direction for Highly Efficient Solar Cells
Optical absorption coefficients are generally inherent to materials and are reduced for longer optical wavelengths, especially below their absorption edges. In tandem solar cells this makes thicker bottom cells necessary to improve their optical absorption efficiencies for longer optical wavelengths. This paper proposes a method to convert the propagation direction of an incident light toward the one parallel to optical absorption layers. High-efficiency optical absorption is demonstrated with thin absorption layers with this method. Drastic reduction of layer thicknesses necessary for high photoelectric conversion efficiencies will reduce the cost and improve the yield of various solar cells
Policy initiatives for sustainable forest management in Canada : Is that industry oriented or environment oriented?
この論文は農林水産省で電子化されました。This paper aims to evaluate a series of policy actions of Canadian federal government toward sustainable forest management in 1990s. A couple of provinces are also examined by means of analyzing legislative initiatives as well as conducting investigation into their managed forests. It is found that strong policy direction of federal government is well materialized on institutions and documentations, such as "Canadian Council of Forest Ministers" and "National Forest Strategy". Federal initiatives are successful for leading provincial governments to make or amend forestry related laws. Regulation Respecting Standards of Forest Management for Forests in the Public Domain in Quebec and Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act are the vital examples. The author visited several forests in Quebec, Alberta, and BC in 1998 and 2002. The impression of managed forest in Quebec was not so nice because of large scale clear-cut. but that in BC coast region was very good because of the existence of preserved old growth forests and newly developed harvesting system called variable retention. Situations of the other forests were in between those two examples. In conclusion, forest practices in Canada today are improving and mostly acceptable as the name of sustainable forest management

Proposal of a method of evaluation and management of the textile supply chain supplier base focusing on the operational capabilities.
This study aims to develop a method of evaluation of the textile supply chain supplier base focusing the realization of an audit of operational capabilities to assess the practices of the audited organization in relation to performance goals in quality, cost and delivery (QCD). The proposed method should support the steps of qualification, decision-making and monitoring in the evaluation of the supply base. The approach proposed for the development of the method was to adopt the practices promoted by lean thinking, in face of the needs of the textile sector in the current context. The method was developed based on models of systematic evaluation of capabilities from the lean thinking perspective. The first objective pursued in this work was to examine whether the approach to verify the adoption of practices promoted by lean thinking can be extended to the process of evaluating the suppliers\' operational capabilities regarding QCD goals in the context of the textile chain. The second objective was to develop and test a method for assessing the suppliers\' operational capabilities regarding QCD goals based on the lean thinking approach. The third objective was to explore how the proposed method for supplier assessment can be used to enrich the steps of decision-making and monitoring in the evaluation of supplier base in an organization. To pursue these objectives a field research was conducted in organizations of the Brazilian textile chain. The applied research methods were participant observation, which was applied by the author in 10 organizations while he registered observations and raised the required data, quasi-experimental research and the application of the proposed method in guidance of supplier monitoring, both applied in 6 organizations where the author conducted observations and interviews to collect data. Data on these 6 organizations were also collected in an organization which is their client. The collected data served to examine the adherence of these suppliers to lean manufacturing practices and the relationship between these practices and the suppliers\' historical performance. The analysis of these data rendered recommendations to support decision making as for how to deal with each supplier which was compared to the decision the client-organization had taken. The data were also used to analyze each supplier through a matrix that relates their operational skills in QCD with the importance given by the client-organization to each of these goals. The conclusion of the research is that the proposed method is suitable for evaluating suppliers in the textile chain, but revealed limitations to be used in the assessment of vendors placed in certain parts of the chain. It is also shown that the proposed method can assist the client organization to avoid wrong decisions in decision making and can also be helpful to refine the monitoring of the supplier base
Double-ECO Model Technologies for an Environmentally-friendly Manufacturing
AbstractThere are many technologies related to ecology in the world; however, these technologies have not made much progress due to the large cost and low profit that they represent. Therefore, the “Double-ECO model” and environmentally-friendly [1] technologies were proposed as an alternative to current manufacturing methods. The “Double-ECO model” stands for “Ecology” or the interaction between environment and men, and “Economy” for the profit that can be made by following this model. Two examples in which the model was applied, were explored and investigated as “Double-ECO model technologies”: “Cost-effective and eco-friendly grease lubrication using polymer” and “Forced cooling using mist of strong alkaline water”. It was concluded from the experimental results that improvements in the environmental pollution, mechanical properties and cost parameters were achieved through the proposed model
Studies on the Weil-Felix Reaction of Rickettsia tsutsugamushi The Investigatign on the Weil-Felix Reaction on the Basis of the Concept of 50% Agglutination Titer
For the diagnosis of rickettsial diseases, though there are agglutination and complement fixation tests with the use of pure rickettsial suspension, the Weil-Felix test is still of high value for its technical simplicity and specificity. Even in the case of Tsutsugamushi disease, Fletcher, Wolf, Felix and Kawamura applied the Weil-Felix reaction with the use of Proteus OXK bacilli, and since then this reaction has been discussed in various ways, but the true antibody titer seems not to be obtained because of the insufficient consideration of the antigen concentration. Especially when the variation in the production of antibody is discussed on the basis of antibody titer, there apt to be misinterpretations. By the Weil-Felix reaction with the use of Proteus OXK dacilli suspension of 50% agglutination titer as the antigen, the author examined the variation of the antibody production in the sera of the test animals inoculated with rickettsiae, in parallel with the case in which the antigen was selected at random in the conventional way. As the result, it was found that when the antigen of 50% agglutination titer was used, no variation was shown in the antibody titer, irrespective of the sites of inoculation, the number of times of inoculation, life or death of rickettsiae, while, in the case of antigen selected at random, variable titers were yielded. From these data, the author believes that the antigen concentration suitable for she Weil-Felix reaction has been found
Good Basic Invariants for Elliptic Weyl Groups and Frobenius Structures
In this paper, we define a set of good basic invariants for the elliptic Weyl group for the elliptic root system. For an elliptic root system of codimension , we show that a set of good basic invariants gives a set of flat invariants obtained by Saito and Taylor coefficients of the good basic invariants give the structure constants of the multiplication of the Frobenius structure obtained by the author.32 pages. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2004.01871. Improved luminescence efficiency of InAs quantum dots grown on atomic terraced GaAs surface prepared with in-situ chemical etching
Observation of the enhanced luminescence efficiency of InAs quantum dots (QDs) grown on atomically controlled GaAs surfaces is reported. With the trisdimethylaminoarsenic (TDMAAs) in-situ surface etching process, formation of atomic steps and terraces on GaAs surfaces were clearly observed. InAs QDs grown on the processed GaAs surfaces showed the clear dependence of QDs size, density and optical characteristics on the surface properties, i.e., the increase of the QDs height and diameter the decrease of the QDs density. About 6-times enhancement of photoluminescence efficiency which has the peak around 1550-nm wavelength was observed by growing InAs QDs on atomically controlled GaAs surfaces. This is due to the migration enhancement of InAs during thegrowth the QDs. (© 2009 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
