Short comments on technical note—The EOQ and EPQ models with shortages derived without derivatives
We study the paper of Ronald, Yang and Chu that was recently published in the International Journal of Production Economics to find the optimal solution for the EOQ and EPQ models without derivatives. We will offer a simple algebraic method to replace their sophisticated algebraic skill, and then we point out a possible direction for further research
To Spike or Not To Spike: A Digital Hardware Perspective on Deep Learning Acceleration
As deep learning models scale, they become increasingly competitive from domains spanning from computer vision to natural language processing; however, this happens at the expense of efficiency since they require increasingly more memory and computing power. The power efficiency of the biological brain outperforms any large-scale deep learning (DL) model; thus, neuromorphic computing tries to mimic the brain operations, such as spike-based information processing, to improve the efficiency of DL models. Despite the benefits of the brain, such as efficient information transmission, dense neuronal interconnects, and the co-location of computation and memory, the available biological substrate has severely constrained the evolution of biological brains. Electronic hardware does not have the same constraints; therefore, while modeling spiking neural networks (SNNs) might uncover one piece of the puzzle, the design of efficient hardware backends for SNNs needs further investigation, potentially taking inspiration from the available work done on the artificial neural networks (ANNs) side. As such, when is it wise to look at the brain while designing new hardware, and when should it be ignored? To answer this question, we quantitatively compare the digital hardware acceleration techniques and platforms of ANNs and SNNs. As a result, we provide the following insights: (i) ANNs currently process static data more efficiently, (ii) applications targeting data produced by neuromorphic sensors, such as event-based cameras and silicon cochleas, need more investigation since the behavior of these sensors might naturally fit the SNN paradigm, and (iii) hybrid approaches combining SNNs and ANNs might lead to the best solutions and should be investigated further at the hardware level, accounting for both efficiency and loss optimization

[[alternative]]Social class, gender, and adolescents' idolization culture
[[abstract]]This study explores the idolization culture of teenagers in terms of class and gender differences. It employs participant observation and semi-structured interview techniques to collect idolization-related data from two junior high schools in Taipei. One is in a working-class community and the other a middle-upper-class community. The major findings are as follows:
1.The so-called three stars (singers, movie stars and sportsmen) have been identified as the most favorite idols by students in both schools. The school-teachers are no longer on their idol list.
2. The idols that junior high school students like most are, by and large, male.
3. Girls idolize stars more often than boys, especially in the working-class school.
4. Girls and working-class students consume more idol products merchandised by the cultural industries.
5. Students of the working-class school connect more with the mass media which has evidently caused an immense impact on adolescents’ idolization.
6. Peer group serves as catalyst for the facilitation of identification with idols, especially in the life world of working-class students.
7. The working-class students usually have a grand time with idolization-related activities when they are at leisure.
8. Idolization plays an important part in the process of adolescents’ identity formation, and some of them even want to learn a foreign culture simply because their idols are brought up in it.
A Study of management strategy for Taiwan information service industry -The case of Taiwan IBM
The study is a retrospective and summarized the related subjected and jounals of corelations. The accumulated materials and subjects let us understanding the present trend of the bussiness, the strategy, tendency and point of profit that attracts. This study also let us have a view of how International Bussiness Machine(IBM) becomes a leading star in the field of electronic technology bussiness. This study including the analysis of organizatin, porduct, diferent of market, the strategy of market, the service and inventive value. In essentials, the 5 points of successful elements is(1)the high value of bussiness culture,(2)attrative salary and benefits,(3)efficient leadership,(4)invention,(5)decrease the fixed consumtions and costs. The author also want to present the difference between the past and present change in this area of competitions and maturation of the markets.Either the red ocean strategy of market percentage increase or the mainly inventive leading of blue ocean strategy, the leading man should have a view of complete understanding of the changing markets and opportunity at the changing moments. We all know even excellent company will lose to 2nd on time by other competitor.Ultimately, the one who invented the strategy of blue ocean that make up a strong profitable revenue is in commonplace that need our further study. The author of this article want to make dicussions on the competitive invention and new strategy that make the electronic technology a pace ahead the others and make it the out-standing business of the others
