Bibliographics for the 983 eprints in the live archives of E-LIS : trends and status report up to 7th July 2004, based on author-self-archiving metadata
The priority for ideas and philosophy related to "Network Theory" have been traced back and documented by Braun(2004),and credit goes to Karinthy(1929).The IT has empowered to realise it, as the most practical phenomena and it is no more a humour. The OAI (Open Archives Initiatives)and ACIS (Academic Contributor Information System)are progressive in the direction ,which may lead to realise the "Collective Genius" at global level. Focus of present study is on Author-Self-Archiving (A-S-A)Metadata of the 983 Eprints in the Live Archives of the E-LIS (EPrints of Library and Information Science),which were approved till 7th July 2004.The A-S-A Metadata was used for librametric analysis. Self-explanatory bibliographics are illustrated. The highlights include: Conference papers (34%); highest approval, June 2004 (28%); published archives (76%);not refereed (52%); not in public domain (60%); highest self-archiving-author (De Robbio, Antonella). The Nos. of EPrints having single JITA domain specifications were: Theoretical and general aspects of libraries and information(27); Information use and sociology of information(80);Users,literacy and reading(13);Libraries as physical collections(30);Publishing and legal issues(57);Management(13);Industry, profession and education(36);Information sources, supports, channels(113) ; Information treatment for information services, Information functions and techniques (101); Technical services libraries, archives and museums(25); Housing technologies(1); Information technology and library technology(92); and Inter-domainery (395) i.e. having specifications of two or more than two JITA classes
Orthodontic uprighting of impacted mandibular permanent second molar: A case report
The mandibular second molars can become impacted beneath the crown of the first molars due to various causes and fail to erupt normally. Presented herewith is a case report of orthodontic uprighting of a mesioangular impacted mandibular right permanent second molar. Though various treatment options were available, an uprighting push spring appliance was used as it is easy to fabricate and produces distal tipping and uprighting of the impacted tooth without the necessity of surgical assistance, bone removal, or splinting. The uprighting of the mandibular second molar was achieved within two months
First TaCl5-SiO2 Catalyzed Prins Reaction: Comparative Study of Conventional Heating vs Microwave Irradiation
Rapid and efficient protocol for the synthesis of 4-chlorotetrahydropyrans using niobium(V) chloride
Aldehydes undergo a rapid coupling with 3-buten-1-ol utilizing 20 mol% of niobium(V) chloride to afford 4-chlorotetrahydropyran derivatives under extremely mild conditions within short reaction times in excellent yields with high selectivity. The similar halogenated tetrahydropyrans are also obtained using gallium(III) halides
A mild and selective cleavage of tritylethers by cerium(III) chloride
Trityl ethers are selectively cleaved by cerium(III) chloride in high yields in refluxing acetonitrile under neutral reaction conditions. The method is compatible with other acid sensitive functional groups like acetonide, acetate, benzoate, BOC, Cbz, benzyl, TBDPS, PMB, allyl, methyl and tetrahydropyranyl ethers present in the molecule
InBr3-catalyzed Ferrier rearrangement: an efficient synthesis of C-pseudoglycals
Glycals react smoothly with silyl nucleophiles such as allyltrimethylsilane, trimethylsilyl cyanide and trimethylsilyl azide in the presence of a catalytic amount of indium tribromide to give the corresponding 2,3-unsaturated allyl glycosides, glycosyl cyanides and glycosyl azides in excellent yields with high α-selectivity
Organic Farming: Status, Issues and Prospects – A Review
This review paper attempts to bring together different issues in the light of recent developments in organic farming. The after effects of green revolution have encouraged the farmers to take up organic farming. This paper has reviewed the global and Indian scenario with reference to organic farming. In India, the cultivated land under certification is 2.8 Mha only. The key issues emerging in organic farming include yield reduction in conversion to organic farm, soil fertility enhancement, integration of livestock, certification constraints, ecology, marketing and policy support. The potential for organic farming, especially in the dryland regions has been discussed. It has been argued that organic farming is productive and sustainable, but there is a need for strong support to it in the form of subsidies, agricultural extension services and research.Agricultural and Food Policy,
Comparative evaluation of shear bond strength of two self-etching adhesives (sixth and seventh generation) on dentin of primary and permanent teeth: An<i> in vitro </i> study
Aim: The present study was undertaken to compare and evaluate shear bond strength of two self-etching adhesives (sixth and seventh generation) on dentin of primary and permanent teeth. Materials and Methods: Flat dentin surface of 64 human anterior teeth (32 primary and 32 permanent) divided into four groups of 16 each. Groups A and C were treated with Contax (sixth generation), while groups B and D were treated with Clearfil S3 (seventh generation). A teflon mold was used to build the composite (Filtek Z-350) cylinders on the dentinal surface of all the specimens. Shear bond strength was tested for all the specimens with an Instron Universal Testing Machine. Data were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA for multiple group comparison, followed by student′s unpaired ′t′ test for group-wise comparison. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in shear bond strength among the study groups except that primary teeth bonded with Contax exhibited significantly lesser shear bond strength than permanent teeth bonded with Clearfil S3. Conclusion: This study revealed that Clearfil S3 could be of greater advantage in pediatric dentistry than Contax because of its fewer steps and better shear bond strength in dentin of both primary and permanent teeth
Efficient and selective cleavage of t-butoxycarbonyl group from carbamates and amides by CeCl3·7H2O-NaI
A highly selective cleavage of the t-butoxycarbonyl group has been achieved in high yields using CeCl3·7H2O-NaI in acetonitrile at ambient temperature under neutral conditions. This method is mild and compatible with a wide range of functional groups such as THP, TBDMS, TBDPS, trityl ethers, mono-BOC or Cbz protected amines, acetamide, sulfonamide and benzamide etc., present in the substrate
