Holotype: Buenos Aires Province, Argentina (37 ° 57 'S, 57 ° 28 'W), 16 m, MACN 27.327 (ovigerous female, 8.9 mm, examined by AS). Paratypes: MNHN Is. 3848 (female, examined by GCBP); "colección particular" (adult male). Diagnosis. Total body length of female 9 mm. Dorsal surface smooth except for posterolateral spines on pereonite 1 and small middorsal tubercles on pereonites 6 and 7; pleotelson with obsolete median carina on pleonite 4. Lateral lobes on head acute. Coxa 6 reaching posteriorly to pleonite 3. Antenna 1 peduncle, article 2 with anterodistal prolongation. Antenna 2 peduncle, article 4, as long as greatest width; article 5, 3 times as long as greatest width. Pereopods 2 and 3 dactyli minute, hook-like. Pereopod 5 ischium without a prominent hook on upper margin. Distribution. Buenos Aires Province, Argentina (38 °S); 16–22 m depth. Remarks. In Bastida & Torti’s (1969) figure of the holotype, pereonite 6 is longer than in other species, an observation confirmed by examination of the holotype in MACN and of the paratype in MNHN. The carina on pleonite 4, referred to as “espina mediana anterior” by Bastida & Torti (1969) is not evident in the somewhat distorted paratype.Published as part of Poore, Gary C. AGL24 acts in concert with SOC1 and FUL during Arabidopsis floral transition
No full textArabidopsis plants flower in response to long days (LDs). Exposure of leaves to inductive day lengths activates expression of FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) protein which moves to the shoot apical meristem (SAM) to induce developmental reprogramming. SUPPRESSOR OF OVEREXPRESSION OF CONSTANS 1 (SOC1) and FRUITFULL (FUL) are induced by FT at the apex. We previously screened the SAM for mRNAs of genes required to promote the floral transition in response to photoperiod, and conducted detailed expression and functional analyses on several putative candidates. Here, we show that expression of AGAMOUS-LIKE 24 (AGL24) is detected at the SAM under SD conditions and increases upon exposure to LDs. Mutations in AGL24 further delay flowering of a soc1 ful double mutant, suggesting that flowering is controlled by AGL24 partly independently of SOC1 and FUL
On consistency factors and efficiency of robust S-estimators
No full textWe tackle the problem of obtaining the consistency factors of robust S-estimators of location and scale both in regression and multivariate analysis. We provide theoretical results, proving new formulae for their calculation and shedding light on the relationship between these factors and important statistical properties of S-estimators. We also give computational advances, suggesting efficient procedures so that hardly any time is lost for their calculation when computing S-estimates. In addition, when the purpose is to fix the efficiency of the scale estimator, we are able to quantify to what extent the approximate algorithms which are currently available provide an acceptable solution, and when it is necessary to resort to the exact formulae. Finally, even if this paper concentrates on S-estimates and Tukey’s Biweight and optimal loss functions, the main results can be easily extended to calculate the tuning consistency factors for other popular loss function and other robust estimators

Filtering of a reflected Brownian motion with respect to its local time
No full textWe consider a filtering problem when the state process is a reflected Brownian motion X-t and the observation process is its local time A(s), for s <= t. For this model we derive an approximation scheme based on a suitable interpolation of the observation process A(t). The convergence of the approximating filter to the original one combined with an explicit construction of the approximating filter allows us to derive the explicit form of the original filter.
