Sito web dell'esposizione virtuale.
L'obiettivo dello scavo nella Biblioteca di Sarnano consiste nella identificazione delle librerie claustrali in essa devolute; delle vicende storiche che ne hanno segnato il percorso; degli uomini che le hanno alimentate e delle motivazioni che li hanno mossi;

Cryogenic-Energy-Storage-Based Optimized Green Growth of an Integrated and Sustainable Energy System
The advancement of using the cryogenic energy storage (CES) system has enabled efficient utilization of abandoned wind and solar energy, and the system can be dispatched in the peak hours of regional power load demand to release energy. It can fill the demand gap, which is conducive to the peak regulation of the power system and can further promote the rapid development of new energy. This study optimizes the various types of energy complementary to the CES system using hybrid gravitational search algorithm-local search optimization (hGSA-LS). First, the mathematical model of the energy storage system (ESS) including the CES system is briefly described. Second, an economic scheduling optimization model of the IES is constructed by minimizing the operating cost of the system. Third, the hGSA-LS methods to solve the optimization problem are proposed. Simulations show that the hGSA-LS methodology is more efficient. The simulation results verify the feasibility of CES compared with traditional systems in terms of economic benefits, new energy consumption rate, primary energy saving rate, and carbon emissions under different fluctuations in energy prices. Optimization of the system operation using the proposed hGSA-LS algorithm takes 5.87 s; however, the GA, PSO, and GSA require 12.56, 10.33, and 7.95 s, respectively. Thus, the hGSA-LS algorithm shows a comparatively better performance than GA, PSO, and GSA in terms of time
Dalitz plot analysis of e+e- --> pi zero pi zero gamma events with the KLOE detector
We have studied the Dalitz plot of the e+e- -> pi0 pi0 gamma events collected at sqrt(s) ~ m(phi) with the KLOE detector. In the dipion invariant mass region below 700 MeV, the process under study is dominated by the non-resonant process e+e- -> omega pi0 with omega -> pi0 gamma whereas, for higher mass values, the radiative phi decay to the f0(980) is the dominant mechanism. Different theoretical models are used to fit the Dalitz plot, taking also into account a possible contribution of the sigma(600). For each model, we extract the f0(980) mass and its coupling to pipi, KKbar and to the phi

Presentazione
Semantic distances of WAIS Similarities word pairs in non-demented adults: An item-level index of semantic memory granularity
Innovative approaches to test scoring can help neuropsychologists detect subtle semantic memory alterations. We focussed on the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale Similarities (SIM) test and calculated an item-level score based on the ‘Leacock & Chodorow ‘(LCH) semantic distance expressed by each SIM item. We hypothesised that LCH would predict 1) performance on standard semantic memory tests; 2) an Alzheimer aetiology; 3) transentorhinal grey-matter integrity. Six hundred sixty-nine non-demented participants completed a neuropsychological battery inclusive of SIM and consolidated tests of semantic memory and executive functioning. Hierarchical linear regressions were designed to test the association between LCH and semantic memory performance after controlling for major confounders. A hierarchical logistic regression was then designed to test the association between LCH and underlying aetiology (Alzheimer/cerebrovascular) in a mild cognitive impairment sub-cohort. Finally, we tested the association between LCH and both whole-brain grey-matter density and transentorhinal thickness using voxel-based-morphometry and region-of-interest models. LCH predicted semantic memory performance but not on a test significantly supported by executive resources. LCH also predicted clinical aetiology and grey-matter density in the transentorhinal cortex and in other regions involved in linguistic-semantic processing. No significant association was found with regional thickness. Post-hoc LCH scoring in 89 people with dementia revealed the presence of a gradient of diagnostic severity, i.e., healthy adults < mild cognitive impairment < dementia. Item-level scores of SIM performance are associated with neurocognitive constituents of semantic memory. LCH is a valuable construct that could help clinicians detect semantic memory decline in ageing adults with suspected neurodegeneration

Image quality comparison of two different experimental setups for MEMS actuators functional evaluation: a preliminary study
The high interest of scientists and industries in the application of MEMS micro-actuators to several fields requires effective and robust measurement methods and systems for their quality assessment, focusing on their functional characterization, usually carried out through image analysis-based methods. In this study, a comparison of two experimental setups for image acquisition is proposed, aiming at establishing which setup collects images with higher quality for MEMS microgripper functional evaluation. The proposed work describes an experimental approach based on the evaluation of five parameters, i.e., brightness, saturation, contrast, sharpness, and signal-to-noise ratio, applied to 24 regions of interest in two sets of images of a same micro-actuator acquired from different optical setups at three magnification levels. Measurement results have been assessed following an objective approach by processing the acquired data through an in-house algorithm and a subjective approach by showing the acquired images to six observers and collecting their preferences
Study of an Optimized Micro-Grid’s Operation with Electrical Vehicle-Based Hybridized Sustainable Algorithm
Recently, the expansion of energy communities has been aided by the lowering cost of storage technologies and the appearance of mechanisms for exchanging energy that is driven by economics. An amalgamation of different renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, etc., is necessary to offer sustainable energy for smart cities. Furthermore, considering the induction of large-scale electric vehicles connected to the regional micro-grid, and causes of increase in the randomness and uncertainty of the load in a certain area, a solution that meets the community demands for electricity, heating, cooling, and transportation while using renewable energy is needed. This paper aims to define the impact of large-scale electric vehicles on the operation and management of the microgrid using a hybridized algorithm. First, with the use of the natural attributes of electric vehicles such as flexible loads, a large-scale electric vehicle response dispatch model is constructed. Second, three factors of micro-grid operation, management, and environmental pollution control costs with load fluctuation variance are discussed. Third, a hybrid gravitational search algorithm and random forest regression (GSA-RFR) approach is proposed to confirm the method’s authenticity and reliability. The constructed large-scale electric vehicle response dispatch model significantly improves the load smoothness of the micro-grid after the large-scale electric vehicles are connected and reduces the impact of the entire grid. The proposed hybridized optimization method was solved within 296.7 s, the time taken for electric vehicle users to charge from and discharge to the regional micro-grid, which improves the economy of the micro-grid, and realizes the effective management of the regional load. The weight coefficients λ1 and λ2 were found at 0.589 and 0.421, respectively. This study provides key findings and suggestions that can be useful to scholars and decisionmakers
