Habitat Ikan Pelangi Arfak (Melanotaenia arfakensis ALLEN) Berdasarkan Tahap Perkembangan di Sungai Nimbai dan Sungai Aimasi, Manokwari
<em>The habitat ontogeny of arfak rainbowfish (Melanotaenia arfakensis) in Nimbai and Aimasi streams, Prafi river system were studied from June to December 2007.&nbsp; Sampling was carried out monthly in four different habitat types using hand net. Slow littoral and medium littoral are two habitat types which characterized by slowly water velocity, availability of submerged vegetation and warmer temperature, however the run and pool areas have higher water velocity and dissolve oxygen. The former habitats are essential for all developed stages, i.e. feeding, spawning and nursing of this species. On the other hand, the later habitat types particularly were only for young and adult fish, due to their swimming abilities as well as maximize of oxygen uptake. In order to maintain the population of this species, conservation is needed to all of their natural habitats for continuing their life cycles.</em></jats:p
Fish Fauna in Gunung Halimun National Park and the Adjacent Area
Gunung Halimun National Park is known to be the area of head waters of a number river systems originate. However, there has been no information on fishes diversity at this area.In this regard, a series of ichthyofauna study was conducted from 1996 to 2000. Thirty seven species belonging to 13 families and 26 genera have been found in the rivers and streams in Gunung Halimun National Park and its adjacent area.Gobiidae was dominant, comprising 13 species or 36,36 %, followed by Cyprinidae comprising 5 species or 16.13 %.These Gobioid species were derived from Cisukawayana and Cimaja River, two of the rivers existing in Gunung Halimun National Park which flow south, to the Indian Ocean. In river flowing north i.e, Cikaniki, Ciberang and Cidurian, even from the middle of Cisadane River these fishes were not found. The fishes species which were found in common in rivers flowing north and south were Rasbora aprotaenia,Puntius binotatus, Channa gachua, Clarias batrachus, Poecilia reticulata and Xiphoporus helleri. Up to the present ten fish species were found within the park such as R. aprotaernia, P. binotatus, T. tambra, C. gachua, P. reticulata, P. latipinna, Cyprinus carpio, Monopterus albus, Glyptothorax platypogon and Lentipes sp. It was found that genus Lentipes and Schismatogobius marmoratus extend their range to Java (new record for Java) as well as Rasbora aprotaenia extends its range to southern Java

Gunung Halimun National Park is known to be the area of headwaters of a number of rivers/streams originate. However, there is no information about the fishes living in these rivers systems. In this regard, a series of ichthyofauna study was conducted from 1996 to 2002 in Cikaniki, Cimaja/Cisarua, Cisukawayana, Ciberang, Cidurian and Cibareno that covered 94 sampling stations. Method that was used was Catch Per Unit of effort (CPU) where electric fishing gear (and) cast net, trap were used.Forty fish species belonging to 16 families and 26 genera have been found. Gobiidae, the diadromous fishes, was dominant, comprising 14 species or 35 %, followed by Cyprinidae comprising 5 species or 12.5 %.These Gobioid fishes were derived from Cisukawayana, Cimaja, and Cibareno River, where these rivers flow south to the Indian Ocean. It was found that Paray, Rasbora aprotaenia; Beunteur, Puntius binotatus; Bogo, Channa gachua; Lele, Clarias batrachus; Kehkel, Glyptothorax platypogon; Soro, Tor tambra; Bungkreng/ Ikan Seribu Poecilia reticulata and Paris, Xiphoporus helleri were found in common in rivers flowing north and south, and Lentipes as well as Schismatogobius marmoratus extend their range to Java (new record for Java). The utilization of fishes for food by local people is presented including Gobioid fishes, which are at the juvenile stage (called as impun) are utilized as a part of their food source
Kata·kata kunci : botia, luas relung, tumpang tindih relung, habitat, makana
Pengaruh Alkalinitas Terhadap Kelangsungan Hidup Dan Pertumbuhan Ikan Lalawak Barbodes SP. [Effect of Alkalinity on the Survival Rate and Growth of Lalawak Fish, Barb Odes SP.]
This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of alkalinity on the survival rate and daily growth rate of Barbodes sp. The fishes were reared in 12 aquariums with four different alkalinity levels 48, 78, 108 and 138 ppm. Each aquarium filled with 10 fish at the average weight of 12.25 to 12.64 g attempt. The treatment lasted for 75 days. During the experiment, the fish were given commercial diet (pellet) with the dose of 5% of biomass weight at the frequency of three times a day. Result of the experiment showed that the survival rate for all treatments was 100%, while the alkalinity which suitable for daily growth rate of the fish was 80 ppm C'aCO
KEMATANGAN GONAD DAN KEBIASAAN MAKANAN IKAN JANJAN BERSISIK (Parapocryptes sp) DI PERAIRAN UJUNG PANGKAH, JAWA TIMUR
Tingkat kematangan gonad ikan contoh (n = 72 ikan jantan, n = 57 ikan betina) bervariasi tergantung bulan pengamatan.
