    MAS NMR studies of ternary silicate glasses

    A series of silicate glasses based on PbOB2O3SiO2,PbOAl2O3SiO2,Bi2O3Al2O3SiO2PbO-B_2O_3-SiO_2, PbO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2, Bi_2O_3-Al_2O_3-SiO_2 and PbOPbF2SiO2PbO-PbF_2-SiO_2 have been studied using solid-state magic-angle-spinning (MAS) NMR of 29Si,27A1^{29}Si, ^{27}A1 and 11B^{11}B nuclei. Al is found to be always four-coordinated in all these glasses. Si is present mostly as Q2Q_2 or Q3Q_3. Four-coordinated boron dominates the 11B^{11}B spectra. Calculated partial charges on Al, Si and B have been used to provide a rationale for the observed spectral features

    A Novel Methodology To Classify The ADSS Cable Ranking

    abstract: All-dielectric self-supporting (ADSS) fiber optic cables are used for data transfer by the utilities. They are installed along high voltage transmission lines. Dry band arcing, a phenomenon which is observed in outdoor insulators, is also observed in ADSS cables. The heat developed during dry band arcing damages the ADSS cables' outer sheath. A method is presented here to rate the cable sheath using the power developed during dry band arcing. Because of the small diameter of ADSS cables, mechanical vibration is induced in ADSS cable. In order to avoid damage, vibration dampers known as spiral vibration dampers (SVD) are used over these ADSS cables. These dampers are installed near the armor rods, where the presence of leakage current and dry band activity is more. The effect of dampers on dry band activity is investigated by conducting experiments on ADSS cable and dampers. Observations made from the experiments suggest that the hydrophobicity of the cable and damper play a key role in stabilizing dry band arcs. Hydrophobic-ity of the samples have been compared. The importance of hydrophobicity of the samples is further illustrated with the help of simulation results. The results indi-cate that the electric field increases at the edges of water strip. The dry band arc-ing phenomenon could thus be correlated to the hydrophobicity of the outer sur-face of cable and damper.Dissertation/ThesisM.S. Electrical Engineering 201

    Cross-condensation kinetics of organically modified silica sols

    The hydrolysis and self- and cross-condensation kinetics of the hybrid sol tetraethoxysilane and ethyltriethoxysilane were investigated by high resolution {sup 29}Si NMR spectroscopy. A kinetic model in which hydrolysis is reversible and condensation is irreversible was developed. The authors found excellent agreement between the product distributions measured by {sup 29}Si NMR spectroscopy and calculated by the model. The cross-condensation rates for each of the sols were intermediate to the condensation rates of the individual components. Calculations show that for these sols, the concentration of cross-condensed species is a weak function of the relative rates of self-condensation

    <p><strong><span>Abstract </span></strong></p> <p><span>The Government of India recognized occupation as a crucial factor for increasing per capita income and eliminating familial destitution. In line with this objective, they introduced various initiatives for rural development after the declaration of independence, most notably during the Fifth Five-Year Plan. One such initiative was the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), which aimed to enhance rural employment opportunities and alleviate rural destitution. To evaluate the impact of MGNREGS on the environment and infrastructure in rural areas, a research was undertaken in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. The inquiry included 160 respondents, and their environmental and infrastructural conditions were assessed both before and after the implementation of MGNREGS. The findings of the study indicated a positive influence of MGNREGS on the rural population. The assessment was carried out on a component-by-component basis. It revealed significant improvements in various aspects. Firstly, as the respondents aspired to become self-employed in the future, there was an observed emphasis on the preservation of natural resources. This indicated a growing awareness of sustainable practices and environmental consciousness among the rural population. Secondly, the implementation of MGNREGS contributed to enhanced rural connectivity, resulting in improved infrastructure conditions in the area. Better infrastructure facilitates greater economic activity and better living standards. Lastly, the study highlighted the positive impact of MGNREGS on grassroots democracy, empowering local communities to involve in the process of decision-making processes. In conclusion, the study demonstrated that MGNREGS played a crucial role in uplifting the environmental and infrastructural conditions of the Thally block in Krishnagiri district. By providing employment opportunities, promoting natural resource preservation, and improving rural connectivity, MGNREGS contributed significantly to the overall development and well-being of the rural populace.</span></p&gt

    Need & Objectives of the study: Good living conditions include basic shelter, food, and clothing but the aspect of access to quality healthcare has become one of the essentials of livelihood, especially in this post-covid era. The post covid era has also marked the digital evolution where the role of social media is inevitable to a wider range such that it has acquired the position among the social institutions influencing diverse population on all aspects due to its multiple users. This multiplicity of users has demanded the interference of social media in all spheres of life even in the field of health and medicine. It has opened up new ways of access for sharing information and social support, due to increased connectivity and direct participation bringing changes in the illness behavior. Methodology: The study tries to understand the influence of online healthcare platforms on health health-seeking behavior of young adults in contemporary society by adopting a quantitative methodology with self-structured questionnaire for data collection. Results: The study results state that online healthcare services have developed a new platform of interaction between the doctor and the patient resulting in the evolution of traditional health-seeking behaviour. It also infers that health-seeking behavior is dynamically aligned with modernity.
