No full textThis is a small note card from Edward M. Ryan. There is writing on the front and back. There is no date given, but the note card may have been sent with or associated with a letter sent to Laurence L. Doggett in 1916. The cards says that Ryan will be leaving with the army to go to the front as a Field Secretary.Edward M. Ryan (1878-1970) was born in Stretford, Manchester, England. He was a graduate of the class of 1911 He was known affectionately as "The Major" by the fellows at the YMCA in Wellington New Zealand where he spent his time before and after his war service. He served in three wars in the British Army, the Boer War, World War I, and World War II. During the First World War he served as a Y.M.C.A. field secretary at Awapuni and Trentham camps in France; and in the Second World War he served as an officer of the Wellington Y.M.C.A., which gave shelter to thousands of troops. He died in 1970.Items numbered rg104-01-a-01-02a-010 and rg104-01-a-01-02a-011 seem to have been attached and may have been associated or sent at the same time. Since it is not known for sure, the items have been separated and described individually
