CP violation in charmless B decays at CDF
We present the CDF results on the branching fractions and time-integrated direct CP asymmetries
for B0, B0s and Λ0 b decay modes into pairs of charmless charged hadrons (pions, kaons and protons). The data-set for these measurements corresponds to 1fb−1 of
pbarp collisions at a center of
mass energy 1.96 TeV
Measurements of B meson decay rates and CP violation asymmetries
Hadrons containing b-quarks represent a great opportunity to investigate the flavor sector of the Standard Model (SM) and to look for New Physics effects (NP). In this report we review the most up-to-date results on b-hadron decay rates and CP violating asymmetries: among other results, we report Branching Ratio (BR) and CP Violation (CPV) of B0, B0s and Lambda0b decay modes into pairs of charmless charged hadrons (pions, kaons and protons), the first search for CPV in B0s to phiphi decays and the first observation of bs to K0starK0star decay. Two new results from the CDF collaboration are reported: the first evidence of B0s to pipi decay and the world's best measurement of BR (B0 to KK)
Precision measurement of CP violation in D0 to pi pi
We report a measurement of the CP violating asymmetry in D0 → π+π− decays using approximately 215,000 decays reconstructed in about 5.94 fb−1 of CDF data. We use the strong D*+ → D0π+ decay ("D* tag") to identify the flavor of the charmed meson at production time and exploit CP-conserving strong c pair-production in p collisions. Higher statistic samples of Cabibbo-favored D0 → K−π+ decays with and without D* tag are used to highly suppress systematic uncertainties due to detector effects. The result is the world's most precise measurement to date and it is fully consistent with no CP violation
DEPOSIZIONE AL PLASMA IN PRESSIONE DI GAS INERTE DI RIVESTIMENTI DI ZrB2
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
One year Operation of an Innovative Condition Monitoring Technique in Four Hydropower Plants
This work presents the results of the application to four hydropower plants in Europe, with a total power of 1.4GW, of a recently developed monitoring and early diagnostic methodology. The innovative approach is based on data-driven and machine learning tools, such as Self-Organizing Maps, allowing an unsupervised learning of the global health state of the plant, and, at the same time, allowing to discriminate the plant variables involved in a faulty behaviour. A number of relevant incipient malfunctions were detected in early stage by our approach, during one year of operation in four plants, which are of different size and use different technologies. The feedback from the plant operators was very positive, with respect to the capacity of the system to reveal incipient faults, which were, in most cases, not properly detected by the traditional monitoring systems installed in the plants
