ACID SENSING ION CHANNELS (ASICS): POTENTIAL TARGETS FOR THE DISCOVERY OF NOVEL THERAPEUTICS IN DISEASE MANAGEMENT
Acid sensing ion channels (ASIC) are Na+ channels activated by external protons. Number of neurological (pathological pain, expression of fear, anxiety, depression, and neurodegeneration after ischemic stroke etc) and non -neurological (brain tumor, cardiovascular mechanosensation, hypoxia induced hypertension, glaucoma, etc.) disorders are implicated by various ASICs subtypes. Due to heir known and potential roles in many disease pathologies, it is very authentic to explore the importance of new and selective small molecule inhibitors and even activators of ASICs as a research tool in clinical uses for treating these diseases pathogenesis. This review is aimed to find out the therapeutic potentialities of ASICs argeed novel drugs in contex of their pathophysiological role in human body. Fluorescent dyes and optical sensors as a means of fast and efficient screening approaches would certainly be used to improve he discovery technology of ASICs modulated drugs

Expressed preferences for public health education of students during COVID-19 vaccination intervention: a cross-sectional comparative study
Abstract Background Public health education is a powerful tool for improving communicable disease awareness and prevention protocols. Despite the fact that health education is crucial for the advancement of COVID-19 awareness and vaccination decisions, how a teacher approaches students to learn about health education during COVID-19 vaccination is a challenging issue. This study aimed to assess the preferences for public health education during COVID-19 vaccination intervention and compare the predictors of preferences between science and non-science university students in Bangladesh. Methods A multi-item questionnaire was developed and an online link was conveniently sent to the encounters between 31st May, 2023 and 15th August, 2023. Binary logistic regression analysis was applied to rationalize the research objective. Results The pooled preference for public health education was 71.3% (95% Confidence Interval [CI] 67.7–74.3) vs. 81.5% (95% CI 79.3–84.7) between science and non-science students. Out of twelve predictors “vaccine agreement”, “bio-safety behavior", and “disease awareness” were significantly associated (p < 0.01, p < 0.05) with the preference for public health education in both groups. Varied effects were also observed for some predictors: vaccine “safety” and “side effects” were significant (p < 0.05, p < 0.01) in science and non-science students, respectively. To address the conflict in decisions, non-science students significantly preferred “prevention alliance” whereas science students preferred “environmental health” issues (p < 0.05). Conclusion Public health education was more preferred by non-science university students than by science students in making COVID-19 vaccine decisions . The focus of transformative public health education should be interdisciplinary, including information on communicable diseases, public health measures, and prevention alliances, as well as information about vaccines' side effects and safety
Dissimilarity of absorbing internal radiation dose of 99mTc- diethylenetriaminepentacetate among male, female and international committee for radiation protection - 53 recommended data
Background: Radioisotope tomography is a form of medical imaging of the kidneys that uses radiolabelling. The two most common radiolabelled pharmaceutical agents used are Tc99m-MAG3 (MAG3 is also called mercaptoacetyltriglycine) and Tc-99m-DTPA (diethylenetriaminepentacetate). Tc-99m-DTPA is filtered by the glomerulus and used to measure the glomerular filtration rate and is the second most commonly used renal radiopharmaceutical, primarily because it is the least expensive. The main objective of the present study was to obtain the bio-kinetic data of organ activity as well as organ absorbed dose of Tc99m-DTPA for single photon emitters. Methods: We have carried out a method to obtain accurate organ activity with single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). Tc-99m-DTPA radiopharmaceutical medicine was used as single photon emitters and we have demonstrated effective decay method and conventional method to obtain accurate organ (seven) activity with single photon emission computed SPECT. The observed organ activity is due to the Tc99m-DTPA is obtained and the data is compared among male, female and ICRP (international committee for radiation protection)-53 recommended data as well. Results: The outcome of study revealed that, dose absorbed power of male is greater than female, so in nuclear medicine centre absorbed doses should be estimated separately both for male and female for more proper treatment opportunity. It is also observed that there is no good agreement of absorbed dose values among male, female and ICRP-53 recommended data. Conclusions: Our achieved result is due to the extreme variation in food values and fundamental needed elements are certainly different between Bangladeshi peoples and foreigners. In case of foreigner’s it is almost equal for male and female, whereas for Bangladeshi male and female it is certainly different
Multi-dimensional potential factors influencing COVID-19 vaccine booster acceptance and hesitancy among university academic community in Bangladesh: A cross-sectional comparative study
Background and aims Vaccination is the most powerful public health intervention proven to be safe and effective in the battle against the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Despite the potential therapeutic benefits of primer vaccine dosage regimens, public perceptions of COVID-19 vaccine booster dose (VBD) acceptance and hesitancy vary among various sub-group populations. This study investigates COVID-19 vaccine booster dose acceptance and compares the multi-dimensional potential factors influencing VBD acceptance and hesitancy among university teachers and the student community in Bangladesh. Methods This web-based cross-sectional study employed an anonymous, validated, and self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire items were adopted from a theoretical analysis of the recent relevant literature. The questionnaire was deployed in an on-line-enabled format (Google form) and conveniently distributed to 685 teachers and 990 students between 15th June, 2022 and 15th August, 2022 which resulted in the participation of 1250 (505 teachers vs.745 students) total respondents (response rate 73.72% vs. 75.25%) from various universities in Bangladesh. A non-parametric analytical tool (binary logistic regression) was applied to rationalize the study objectives and a Chi-squared test was performed to estimate the booster- hesitant risky group. Results The pooled COVID-19 vaccine booster dose acceptance rates were 84.6% (95% CI 81.5─87.7) and 67.2% (95% CI 63.8─70.6) for teachers and students in the university academic community, respectively. In employing a binary logistic regression, this study revealed that out of twelve (12)multi-dimensional key predictors, “equal safety”, “risk-benefit ratio”, and “variant control” had a significant positive association with VBD acceptance in both sets (p = 0.000, p = 0.000, and p = 0.005, respectively). Varied effects were found for several predictors; post-vaccination “side effects” had a significant negative association (p = 0.020) and “community protection” had significant positive association (p = 0.034) with vaccine booster dose acceptance in the teachers community while these variables were insignificant in the students cohort. “Trust” had a highly significant positive association (p = 0.000);“communication” and “academic attainment” had significant positive associations (p = 0.033 and 0.024, respectively) with VBD acceptance in the students cohort, while these predictors were insignificant in the teachers community. Women were more likely to receive a third dose of the vaccine (OR = 1.4 vs. 0.9 between teacher and student model); however, no significant association between gender and booster vaccine acceptance was found in a comparative Chi-squared model. Therefore, statistically, the booster vaccine-hesitant risky group was not found to implicate the massive booster vaccine drive among the university academic community. Conclusions COVID-19 booster vaccine acceptability among the student cohort was slightly lower than pre-roll-out intent. The teacher community was more inclined to get booster vaccinated. Moreover, differences were found between the multi-dimensional potential factors associated with VBD acceptance among teachers and students in university settings. This study explicitly confirmed positive attitudes toward the safety, health benefits, and variants control of the COVID-19 VBD under any circumstances. Post-vaccination side effect concern was found to be a barrier to administering booster shots and a reason for booster skepticism. Tailored communication and health education interventions need to be adopted to improve the public awareness of booster vaccine consequences, and limit booster skepticism
COMPARATIVE STUDIES ON ANTIDIABETIC, ANALGESIC, AND CYTOTOXIC EFFECT OF ETHANOLIC EXTRACTS OF AMARANTHUS GANGETICUS L. AND ALTERNANTHERA SESSILIS L.
Objective: The present study was designed to evaluate and compare antidiabetic, analgesic, and cytotoxic properties of Lal shak (Amaranthus gangeticus L.) and Chanchi shak (Alternanthera sessilis L.). We carried out this work to explore the medicinal uses of very common and cheap leafy plant vegetables among the people of all classes.
Methods: The antidiabetic activity was evaluated and compared by studying the effect of ethanolic extract of A. gangeticus (EEAG) and ethanolic extract of A. sessilis (EEAS) against blood glucose level of alloxan-induced diabetic mice in every 6 h for 24 h. To evaluate and compare analgesic and cytotoxic activity, different tests such as acetic acid-induced writhing test, hot plate test, and brine shrimp lethality bioassay test had been performed.
Results: The mice were treated with both plants extract at a dose of 200 mg/kg body weight in case of antidiabetic activity test. Blood glucose level was examined and found that there was a significant reduction of blood glucose level with EEAG (p<0.05) and EEAS (p<0.001) in comparison with their respective diabetic control group. Although both plant extracts reduced the blood glucose level, the glucose reducing effect was higher in EEAS. Both the plants showed significant (p<0.05) peripheral analgesic activity in treated mice but no significant central analgesic activity. EEAG showed higher peripheral analgesic activity than EEAS. In brine shrimp lethality bioassay, both the plants showed higher LC50 value thus cytotoxicity occurs at very higher dose and safe to administer.
Conclusion: In this study, both the plants showed sufficient antidiabetic property and higher LC50 value, thus administration of leafy vegetable Lal shak and Chanchi shak may be useful for diabetic people. Chanchi shak may be more helpful for diabetic people than Lal shak

Factors influencing COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and hesitancy among rural community in Bangladesh: A cross-sectional survey based study
Although more than one hundred million beneficiaries were administered COVID-19 vaccine until 20th February, 2022 in Bangladesh; however, proportionally a low turnout has been recorded in rural places and a substantial gap exist among the people living in rural and urban areas concerning the ratio of receiving vaccine. This study aims to investigate COVID-19 vaccine acceptance intention and to identify the potential factors influencing vaccine acceptance and hesitancy among the rural community in Bangladesh. A bilingual, self-administered anonymous questionnaire was developed, and data were collected between 10th June 2021 and 14th August 2021 through face-to-face interview. 655 rural people participated in this cross-sectional study, and sampling was done randomly. Descriptive statistics and binary logistic regressions were used to explore and rationalize study objectives. Out of 655 rural participants, 552 (84.3%, 95% CI 81.2─86.8) responded to accept COVID-19 vaccine; however, minor fractions (n = 5, n% = 0.8, 95% CI 0.12–1.4) of rural community had willingness to pay (WTP) for a COVID-19 vaccine. The result of binary regression showed that “safety,” “side effects,” “effectiveness,” and “trust” had highly significant (p <.01) and positive correlation with vaccine acceptance intention. “Rumor” had moderately significant (p <.05) and negative association while “gender” had insignificant correlation with vaccine acceptance intention. Easy and constant access to evidence-based and trustworthy information on vaccination consequences is imperative for resource-less remote people. Health communication regarding safety, side effect, and effectiveness of vaccines were identified as the most important predictor to convert vaccines to vaccinations and for ensuring mass immunization against COVID-19 in Bangladesh
