In Vasiliko Bay it was found at 6–51 m depth (22 + 13 m), mainly in muddy sand and also sand substrates, with organic matter ranging between 1.933 –11.119 % (6.196 + 2.668 %) and in association with C. prolifera, C. cylindracea, C. nodosa, Dictyota spp., H. stipulacea and P. oceanica. It was found in stations classified according to the Bentix Index as in: “high” (5 stations, 145 individuals), “good” (10 stations, 348 individuals), “moderate” (11 stations, 158 individuals) and poor (1 station, 25). It was recorded at the ports (72 individuals), the buoy (2 individuals), at the freshwater underwater and power station outlet station (13 individuals) and at the fish farms stations (189 individuals).Published as part of Rousou, Maria, Plaiti, Wanda, Lowry, Jim, Charalambous, Stephanos & Chintiroglou, Chariton Charles, 2020, Amphipoda species (Suborders: Amphilochidea and Senticaudata) from Vasiliko Bay, Cyprus: New records, information on their biogeography and an annotated checklist from the coasts of Cyprus, pp. 373-408 in Zootaxa 4896 (3) on page 389, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4896.3.3, http://zenodo.org/record/438388

However, in that species, the coxa of gnathopod 1 is less produced anteriorly and the basis is swollen medially (broadest distally in M. periergos sp. nov.). It differs radically from M. armatus in the shape of the male gnathopod 2, which in M. armatus has a flange on the anterior margin of the basis (absent in M. periergos sp. nov.) short, almost rectangular carpus and propodus, (elongate in M. periergos sp. nov.) and the propodus palm with a strong distal spine (absent in M. periergos sp. nov.). In addition, in M. armatus there are strong sternal spines and the uropod 1 peduncle has a strong inter-ramal spine, both of which are missing in M. periergos sp. nov. The present species also shows similarity in the shape of the male gnathopod 1 to M. algicola Della Valle, but in that species the coxa is anteriorly strongly acute (subacute in M. periergos sp. nov.) and the posterior margin of the propodus has no lobation (lobed in M. periergos sp. nov.). It differs radically in the shape of gnathopod 2, which in M. algicola has the basis relatively slender and the carpus and propodus short and stout. M. algicola also has strong sternal spines and inter-ramal spines on the peduncle of both uropod 1 and uropod 2 both of which are missing in M. periergos sp. nov.

Distribution. The species is considered common in Vasiliko Bay (found in 27 of 42 sites), at south coast of Cyprus, Mediterranean Sea. It is known only from Cyprus.
Published as part of Myers, Alan, Plaiti, Wanda & Rousou, Maria, 2018, A new species of Microdeutopus, M. periergos sp. nov. Variations on the Author

    No full text
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
