Constraint Satisfaction for Planning and Scheduling Problems

    No full text
The areas of planning and scheduling (from the Artificial Intelligence point of view) have seen important advances thanks to application of constraint satisfaction techniques. Currently, many important real-world problems require efficient constraint handling for planning, scheduling and resource allocation to competing goal activities over time in the presence of complex state-dependent constraints. Solutions to these problems require integration of resource allocation and plan synthesis capabilities. Hence to manage such complex problems planning, scheduling and constraint satisfaction must be interrelated. This special issue on Constraint Satisfaction for Planning and Scheduling Problems compiles a selection of papers dealing with various aspects of applying constraint satisfaction techniques in planning and scheduling. The core of submitted papers was formed by the extended versions of papers presented at COPLAS'2009: ICAPS 2009 Workshop on Constraint Satisfaction Techniques for Planning and Scheduling Problems. This issue presents novel advances on planning, scheduling, constraint programming/constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs) and many other common areas that exist among them. On the whole, this issue mainly focus on managing complex problems where planning, scheduling, constraint satisfaction and search must be combined and/or interrelated, which entails an enormous potential for practical applications and future research. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.Bartak, R.; Salido, MA. Supplying the Roman Towns in Hispania. Granaries and warehouses

    No full text
Introduction Food supply in Roman towns across Hispania has been a scarcely studied subject in historiography due to poor conservation of relevant structures (borrea –granaries and store buildings- and pistrina) and a lack of interest on part of experts dedicated to the archaeology of architecture, who have focused more on the religious, judicial and other types of sites and monuments. Consequently, the study of warehouses and other store buildings has been long neglected, despite being of gr..

Diverse boards and firm performance: The role of environmental, social and governance disclosure

    No full text
The present study examines the relationship between the diverse board of directors and firm performance using a panel data sample of the top 73 EU nonfinancial sustainable firms across 13 countries from 2016 to 2020 based on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). We specifically examine the impact of structural (board independence) and demographical (age, gender, education, tenure and industry experience) board diversity on firm performance. Drawing on the agency and resource base perspective, the results indicate that firms with a diverse board of directors (structural and demographic) perform significantly better with firm performance. Additionally, when viewed through the lens of stakeholder theory, the findings indicate that environmental, social and governance disclosure (ESG) moderates and partially mediates the relationship between the diverse board of directors and firm performance. We also performed robust checks to validate our results. Diversity contributes to a firm's understanding of its market and, as a result, its overall performance. The current study demonstrates a considerable gap between the theoretical and empirical support for various board indicators (structural and demographic), their relationship to performance, and how ESG acts as an intervening element in increasing firm financial performance

The Discrete Multicriteria Decision Methods And ARSV Model Used To Choice The Best Exchange Rate

    No full text
The exchange rate is a variable that economic agents have in consideration. For this reason, in this paper we suggest a decision method to compare several exchange rates. This method is the Promethee Method and it is a Multicriteria Decision Method used to order the preference between returns of the different exchange rates. We have used different statistic criteria to rank these exchange rates. To obtain the pay-off matrix it has been used one econometric model: Autoregressive Stochastic Volatility (ARSV) Model. We have proposed different generalized criteria and their corresponding thresholds. Both are used to evaluate the different exchange rate returns in the decision matrix or the pay-off matrix. These thresholds are suggested according to the obtained results in the decision matrix. Finally, we have obtained the best solution of the problem when all the criteria have the same importance for the decision-maker

El abastecimiento de grano a las ciudades hispanorromanas. Producción, almacenaje y gestión

    No full text
This work presents the last updates in the study of grain supply of the Roman towns in Hispania. The purpose of this study is to discuss the issue of provisioning by going beyond the standpoint found in literary sources, and in particular by focusing on horrea and granaries. These remains are considered as the most valuable sources to obtain information related to food production, storage and redistribution. Both granaries and storage buildings preserved in the territory and those preserved in the city centre are included in this study. By reinterpreting and analysing epigraphic testimonies, we present new approaches to address the management of grain in the Roman cities in Hispania.

Horrea representations in Roman mosaics. Problems of identification

    No full text
Based on the study of the horrea architectural remains, this paper analyses some possible horrea representations (barns and store storehouses) in Roman mosaics. Thanks to these mosaics we know how these buildings may have looked like. Our study analyses the different types of horrea represented in the Roman mosaics, some constructive techniques (cancelli) unknown to archaeology, and questions certain rooms located in the horrea that were considered to be sacred, suggesting they should more likely have been watchtowers. [EN] The objective of this work is to carry out an audiovisual campaign to launch a zombie horror short film. This advertising campaign is summarized in the recording, editing and screening of two cinematographic pieces, shot in Super 8: an advance of the short film or trailer and a campaign of intrigue or teaser. Both of a short duration, according to its standard format for film and television. The author has chosen to shoot and project in super 8, to achieve a classic texture in both formats, according to his stylistic line. Taking as reference classical authors of the genre, from the 50s to the 80s and based, likewise, on his novel "Zombi Crisis", written in 2013 and subsequently rewritten in 2018 to adapt it as a film script. In this project, the process of preparing the pre-release of the film "Zombi Crisis" is explained step by step.[ES] El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo la realización de una campaña audiovisual de lanzamiento de un cortometraje de terror zombi.
