A New Fractional Curvature of Curves and Surfaces in Euclidean Space Using the Caputo’s Fractional Derivative

No full text
In this paper, the authors generalize the fractional curvature of plane curves introduced by Rubio et al. in 2023, to regular curves in the Euclidean space R3, and study the geometric properties of the curve using Caputo’s fractional derivative. Furthermore, we introduce a new definition of fractional curvature and fractional mean curvature of a regular surface, using fractional principal curvatures; and prove that such concepts are invariant under isometries; i.e., they belong to the intrinsic geometry of the regular surface. Also, a geometric interpretation is given to Caputo’s fractional derivative of algebraic polynomials

Fourier Multipliers in Banach Function Spaces with UMD Concavifications

We prove various extensions of the Coifman-Rubio de Francia-Semmes multiplier theorem to operator-valued multipliers on Banach function spaces. Our results involve a new boundedness condition on sets of operators which we call r(s) {\ell ^{r}(\ell ^{s})}-boundedness, which implies R \mathcal {R}-boundedness in many cases. The proofs are based on new Littlewood-Paley-Rubio de Francia-type estimates in Banach function spaces which were recently obtained by the authors.Accepted Author ManuscriptAnalysi

La visión técnica del arquitecto: Francisco Hernández-Rubio y el hormigón armado

No full text
The author comments on an unpublihed lecture given by the Jerez architect Francisco Hernández-Rubio. Hernández-Rubio 's views on a variety of artistic styles are discussed, as is his deep undersanding -relatively early in the history of Spanish architecture- of the technique of using reinforced concrete. This is, then, an attempt t do justice to a seriours professional of interest study of the late introduction in Spain of reinforced concrete, and of the polemical discussions between engineers and architects: in this respect, Hernández-Rubio was a remarkable exception, in that he, together with sorne other architets, did not neglect the role played in his art by technical materials and methods.

Genetic variation and evolutionary analysis of Cucumber mosaic virus in medicinal, aromatic and ornamental plants from northern Italy.

The genetic variation and evolution of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) (1) infecting aromatic, medicinal and ornamental plants in Northern Italy were studied by sequence analysis of the movement protein gene and comparison with equivalent sequences of isolates from other countries. Comparison of nonsynonymous and synonymous substitutions at each codon suggested that 30% of amino acid sites were under negative selection and only one was under positive selection. Phylogenetic inference, nucleotide diversity estimation, neutrality tests and genetic differentiation analysis revealed a high nucleotide diversity of CMV in Northern Italy with respect to areas of other countries [1,2] and suggested that long distance migration plays a main role in the evolution and determination of the different genetic structures of this virus. 1. Modern energy consumption and economic modernisation in Latin America and the Caribbean between 1890 and 1925

No full text
In the absence of comparable macroeconomic indicators for most of the Latin American economies before the 1930s, the apparent consumption of energy is used in this paper as a proxy of the degree of modernisation of Latin America and the Caribbean. This paper presents an estimate of the apparent consumption per head of modern energies (coal, petroleum and hydroelectricity) for 30 countries of Latin American and the Caribbean for 1890 to 1925, multiplying the number of countries for which energy consumption estimates were previously available. As a result, the paper provides the basis for a quantitative comparative analysis of modernisation performance beyond the few countries for which historical national accounts are available in Latin America.Energy consumption, economic modernisation, Latin America

The ℓ s-boundedness of a family of integral operators on UMD banach function spaces

No full text
We prove the ℓs-boundedness of a family of integral operators with an operator-valued kernel on UMD Banach function spaces. This generalizes and simplifies earlier work by Gallarati, Veraar and the author, where the ℓs-boundedness of this family of integral operators was shown on Lebesgue spaces. The proof is based on a characterization of ℓs-boundedness as weighted boundedness by Rubio de Francia.Analysi

Factors Associated to Purchase of Quality-Labelled Beef

The aim of the present study is to identify the factors associated to purchase of quality-labelled beef. For this purpose a total of 364 surveys were carried out on buyers of beef in three Spanish cities. The sample was divided into three groups of buyers according to the beef purchasing habits with a quality label. A logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the differences between groups. The results show the importance of the production region as a quality aspect. Income level, association of quality-labelled beef with “guarantee and tradition” aspects, purchasing frequency, place of purchase, production systems and lifestyles are all variables that enabled us to establish differences between groups.beef quality, quality label, consumer perception, Demand and Price Analysis,

Colegio Lucila Rubio De Laverde IEDLicenciado en Educación InfantilPregradoThe present research is called “Fostering curiosity: STEAM and scientific awakening in boys and girls in 1st grade of primary School at the Lucila Rubio De la Verde IED.” and its objective is to analyze the relationship between the STEAM method, the learning process and development. of scientific skills that allow for the construction of meaningful experiences for first grade girls and boys, taking into account the strategies that teachers use in the classrooms to enhance the development of scientific skills, in addition to analyzing the pedagogical practices related to the STEAM method to involve activities that enhance scientific thinking and finally generate a teacher tool that enables the implementation of the STEAM method by teachers. This research work is developed under the qualitative method with a Hermeneutic phenomenological paradigm, which aims to understand the experiences and perceptions of the students and teachers of the Lucila Rubio De Laverde IED School regarding the STEAM method and scientific skills, for this it is taken into account. direct observation of students and teachers, spontaneous exploration of different materials and interviews with teachers, from which an exhaustive analysis is carried out, resulting in. the relationship of strategies implemented by teachers with the development of scientific skills, without this being the teachers' intention; On the other hand, students are immersed in traditional methodology just as many of them know other methodologies such as STEAM. They do not have material to guide them on this path. Taking the above into account, a teacher tool was designed that serves as a guide and support for teachers regarding the implementation of the STEAM method in classrooms

Materials and methods: A decision-tree model was applied. The success and safety (hepatic and renal adverse effects) of first-line treatments were obtained from meta-analyses and systematic reviews of clinical trials. In the case of failure, a second-line treatment (liposomal amphotericin B after the echinocandins, or one of the echinocandins after fluconazole) was administered. The duration of the treatments (14 days total) was established by a panel of clinical experts using the Delphi method and according to Infectious Diseases Society of America guidelines. The cost of the medications and renal toxicity were considered. Deterministic and probabilistic sensitivity analysis using Monte Carlo simulations were carried out. Results: The total cost of the treatment of candidemia and/or invasive candidiasis with anidulafungin, caspofungin, micafungin, and fluconazole was €5,483, €5,968, €6,231, and €2,088, respectively. Anidulafungin was the dominant treatment (more effective, less expensive) compared to micafungin and caspofungin. The cost of achieving one more patient successfully treated with anidulafungin, caspofungin, and micafungin compared to fluconazole was €17,199, €23,962, and €27,339, respectively. The result remained stable, despite modification of the duration of the first-line and second-line treatments, as well as most of the dosing regimens. The probabilistic analysis also remained stable. Conclusion: In accordance with this economic study, anidulafungin would produce savings and would be the dominant treatment compared with micafungin and caspofungin in nonneutropenic adult patients with candidemia and/or invasive candidiasis in intensive care units in Spain.
