EMOTION REGULATION IN ADOLESCENT ATHLETES

Curs: 2019/2020Adolescents are more at risk of experiencing different forms of psychological mismatch due to difficulties to regulate their emotions. In the sports career, multiple emotions arise, being essential to learn to cope with them. The purpose of this review was to explore previous research focused on the impact of emotional regulation on competitive athletes, while analyzing when might appear emotional and physical burnout, and a decrease in feelings of achievement. Strategies for regulating intra and interpersonal emotions were investigated to determine if they were related to enjoyment and commitment, by identifying the evolution of motivational profiles and functional / dysfunctional emotional trajectories. Scientific articles between 2015 to 2019 were searched in Psycarticles, PsycINFO, Pubpsych, PubMed, SCOPUS and Google Scholar. Afterward, those meeting the inclusion criteria (male and female athletes aged 12 to 18 years) were selected and the PRISMA method was applied to carry out the literature review. Out of 108 articles, we first eliminated duplicates and examined the resulting records obtained in each filtering phase. Full text studies were chosen to be evaluated and subsequently several of them were rejected because they did not meet the inclusion criteria or did not fit into the main topic of this literature revision. Finally, studies in qualitative synthesis were rejected and 5 studies that presented quantitative synthesis were accepted. The literature revision suggests the importance of adaptive regulation of emotions, and the development of strategies in order to help athletes to face obstacles during their sports career. Limitations appeared due to insufficient empirical evidence in this area, in addition to a mixture of adolescence stages and emotional concepts. Additional personality and situational factors, as well as achievement behaviors, should be considered in future studies carried out with larger samples of female athletes, including a gender perspective.Los adolescentes tienen más riesgo de sufrir diferentes formas de desajuste psicológico debido a sus problemas para regular emociones. En la carrera deportiva, surgen numeras situaciones con emociones intensas, siendo esencial aprender a afrontarlas y regularlas de forma adaptativa. El propósito de esta revisión era explorar investigaciones previas centradas en el impacto de la regulación emocional en atletas adolescentes competitivos, analizando especialmente el momento en que podían darse agotamiento emocional y físico, junto con una disminución de sentimientos de logro. Se investigaron estrategias de regulación emocional intra e inter personales para determinar si estaban relacionadas con el disfrute y el compromiso, identificando la evolución de perfiles motivacionales y trayectorias emocionales funcionales / disfuncionales. La información se recopiló en Psycarticles, PsycINFO, Pubpsych, PubMed, SCOPUS y Google Scholar, filtrando de 2015 a 2019. De todos los artículos, se seleccionaron aquellos que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión (atletas masculinos y femeninas de 12 a 18 años). Para llevar a cabo la revisión teórica, se aplicó el método PRISMA. Del total de 108 artículos, se eliminaron los duplicados y se examinaron los registros resultantes, posteriormente se excluyeron varios según su título. Inicialmente, se eligieron estudios de texto completo para ser evaluados y después, se eliminaron algunos de ellos, por no ajustarse a los criterios de inclusión ni temática principal. Finalmente se rechazaron estudios en síntesis cualitativa y se aceptaron 5 que presentaban síntesis cuantitativa. Se demostró la importancia de regular de manera adaptativa las emociones, y del desarrollo de estrategias que preparaba a los atletas para enfrentarse a los obstáculos durante su trayectoria deportiva. La revisión de la literatura sugiere limitaciones metodológicas debido a la insuficiente evidencia empírica en esta área de estudio, además de una mezcla de períodos de adolescencia y conceptos emocionales. En consecuencia, se deben considerar otros factores de personalidad y situacionales, así como los comportamientos de logro, y realizar nuevos estudios con muestras de atletas femeninas de mayor tamaño, incluyendo la perspectiva de género
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
