Marco Rodriguez Interview
Marco Rodriguez (M.Ed., Class of 2020) was interviewed by Sriya Reddy via the Zoom internet-based video conferencing software on July 16, 2020. He was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up as an only child in Grand Prairie, Texas. His father is an immigrant from Mexico and his mother is a Mexican-American. Rodriguez converted to Judaism at the age of 5. He went to Texas State University from 1989-1993 and studied Speech Communication. He decided to go back to school to become an educator. From 2017 until 2020, Rodriguez went to SMU to get his Master of Education

MABS validation through repeated execution and data mining analysis
Agent Based Modelling is the most interesting and advanced approach for simulating a complex system: in a social context, the single parts and the whole are often very hard to describe in detail. Besides, there are agent based formalisms which allow to study the emergency of social behaviour with the creation and study of models, known as artificial societies. Thanks to the ever increasing computational power, it's been possible to use such models to create software, based on intelligent agents, which aggregate behaviour is complex and difficult to predict, and can be used in open and distributed systems. Data mining is born in the last decades in order to help users in finding useful knowledge from the otherwise overwhelming amount of data available nowadays from the web and the data collected every day by companies. Data Mining techniques can therefore be the keystone to reveal non-trivial knowledge expressed by the initial assumption used to build the micro-level of the model and the structure of the society of agents that emerged from the simulation
Visible Light Induced Cationic Polymerization of Epoxides by Using Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes
The visible light induced cationic polymerization of epoxides can be achieved by means of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), which act as visible light photoinitiators via a radical-induced cationic photopolymerization process. When MWCNTs are irradiated with longer wavelengths (above 400 nm), they generate carbon radicals, by means of hydrogen abstraction from the epoxy monomer; these radicals are oxidized in the presence of iodonium salt to a carbocation that is sufficiently reactive to start the cationic ring-opening polymerization of an epoxy monomer. These mechanisms have been supported by electron paramagnetic resonance analysis.Fil: Sangermano, Marco. Politecnico di Torino; ItaliaFil: Rodriguez, Damian.
