Interference of droplet classes and application rates on the performance of the atrazine and nicosulfuron mixture in the management of weed competition in the corn-brachiaria intercropping
No full textO rendimento do consórcio milho-braquiária pode ser otimizado pelo manejo da matocompetição com a aplicação de herbicidas seletivos à cultura do milho. Objetivando verificar a interferência de classes de gota e volumes de aplicação no desempenho da mistura dos herbicidas atrazine (ACLAMADOBR - SC) e nicosulfuron (NICO - OD) nesse manejo, foram realizados cinco experimentos: Experimento 1: dose-resposta dos herbicidas atrazine e nicosulfuron em Urochloa ruziziensis aplicados de modo isolado e em mistura, objetivando verificar seus efeitos e uma dose de trabalho para os demais experimentos; Experimento 2: deposição, cobertura e densidade de gotas das classes de gota fina, média, grossa e muito grossa nos volumes de aplicação de 77 L.ha-1 e 144 L.ha-1; Experimento 3: características dos espectros de gotas dos tratamentos pelo método de análise de gotas por imagem; Experimento 4: potencial de deriva dos tratamentos em túnel de vento e Experimento 5: interferência de classes de gota e volumes de aplicação no manejo da matocompetição do consórcio milho-braquiária, realizado no campo, em duplicata. A dose de trabalho da mistura dos herbicidas atrazine e nicosulfuron, definida a partir da análise das curvas de dose-resposta, foi de 2500 + 15 g i.a. ha-1 (Experimento 1). Os dados das variáveis respostas dos experimentos 2, 3, 4 e 5 foram submetidos à análise de variância e comparados pelo teste Scott-Knott a 5%. A deposição dos tratamentos do volume de 77 L.ha-1 foi mais uniforme e a cobertura foi maior nos tratamentos com volume de 144 L.ha-1 (Experimento 2). As características dos espectros de gotas e as correlações entre as variáveis de aplicação variaram de acordo com a interação entre a ponta, a classe de gotas e o volume de aplicação (Experimentos 3 e 4). O rendimento de massa seca de parte área de braquiária e grãos do consórcio em cenários de baixa densidade de plantas daninhas não foi afetado pelos tratamentos. No cenário de maior densidade de plantas daninhas, o volume de 144 L.ha-1 ofereceu melhor controle, refletindo positivamente no rendimento de grãos do consórcio (Experimento 5). O manejo da matocompetição no consórcio milho-braquiária pode ser realizado com baixo risco de deriva utilizando a classe de gota muito grossa.The yield of the corn-brachiaria intercropping can be optimized by managing weed competition through the application of selective herbicides to the corn crop. Five experiments were carried out to verify the interference of droplet classes and application volumes on the performance of the mixture of atrazine (ACLAMADOBR - SC) with nicosulfuron (NICO - OD) in weed management in the corn-brachiaria intercropping. Experiment 1: elaboration of dose-response curves in Urochloa ruziziensis, cultivated in pots in a greenhouse, to the herbicides atrazine and nicosulfuron applied alone and in mixture, aiming to determine their effects and working dose. Experiment 2: quantification of deposition, coverage and droplet density of treatments with fine, medium, coarse and very coarse droplets at application volumes of 77 L.ha-1 and 144 L.ha-1. Experiment 3: verification of droplet spectra characteristics of treatments using the image drop analysis method. Experiment 4: quantification of the potential for treatment drift in a wind tunnel, and Experiment 5: field experiment, in duplicate, aiming to verify the interference of treatments in weed management in the corn-brachiaria consortium. The dose of the mixture of atrazine and nicosulfuron used as a working dose, based on dose-response curves (Experiment 1), was 2500 + 15 g i.a. ha-1. The data from the other experiments were subjected to analysis of variance and compared by the Scott-Knott test at 5%. The deposition of treatments at a volume of 77 L.ha-1 was more uniform, while coverage was higher in treatments with a volume of 144 L.ha-1 (Experiment 2). Both the droplet spectrum characteristics and the correlations between application variables varied depending on the interaction between nozzle, droplet class and application volume (Experiment 3 and Experiment 4). The dry mass yield of the brachiaria area or consortium grains in scenarios of low weed plant density was not affected by treatments. In the scenario of higher weed plant density, the volume of 144 L.ha-1 offered better control, reflecting positively on the consortium grain yield (Experiment 5). Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
