About the sacralization of landscapes and the use of religiosity for territorial domination: a study on the ruins of the Church of Senhor Bom Jesus de Matozinhos (MG).
No full textAdjacente à confluência do Rio das Velhas com o Rio São Francisco, uma imponente construção se destaca: as ruínas da Igreja Senhor Bom Jesus de Matozinhos ou, como é conhecida, Igreja de Pedras de Guaicuí. Localizada no distrito de Barra do Guaicuí (pertencente ao município de Várzea da Palma - Minas Gerais), a edificação nunca foi objeto de estudos aprofundados, embora, além de grandiosa, esteja em uma área que teve relevância durante a ocupação do interior do território brasileiro. Nesse sentido, o presente trabalho empreende uma pesquisa que visa atingir múltiplos olhares sobre o vestígio arquitetônico supracitado. Aspirando investigar a origem dessa edificação católica (temporalidade e estilo arquitetônico), bem como possíveis motivações e consequências de sua inserção na confluência de dois importantes rios, foram adotados conceitos da Arqueologia da Paisagem e da Arqueologia da Arquitetura, levando em conta sua materialidade e o que pode existir de subjetivo. Considerando que a igreja é fruto de um contexto de colonização e expansão européia e, assim, da consolidação do sistema capitalista, encaixamos este estudo como parte das arqueologias do capitalismo. Presume-se, então, que a Igreja Senhor Bom Jesus de Matozinhos pode ter atuado como um instrumento de comunicação não verbal, representando a dominação daquelas terras, para além da conversão de fiéis. Para atingir os objetivos propostos, considerando as particularidades do objeto de estudo, o foco foi direcionado para três ações principais: a) busca por fontes primárias e secundárias que tratassem das ruínas e da localidade; b) análise da sua materialidade e da técnica construtiva e, por fim, c) o exame da conexão entre a edificação e a paisagem, através de uma descrição de sua posição no ambiente e como ela se relaciona com o entorno. Por meio de tais procedimentos, foi possível adquirir maior conhecimento acerca das ruínas da Igreja Senhor Bom Jesus de Matozinhos, pensando na construção em si mesma, mas também no que ela pode contar sobre o contexto histórico e regional.Adjacent to the confluence of the Rio das Velhas and the Rio São Francisco, an imposing building stands out: the ruins of the Church of Senhor Bom Jesus de Matozinhos or, as it is known, the Igreja de Pedras de Guaicuí. Located in the district of Barra do Guaicuí (belonging to the municipality of Várzea da Palma - Minas Gerais), the building has never been the subject of in-depth studies, although, in addition to being grandiose, it is located in an area that was important during the occupation of the interior of the Brazilian territory. In this sense, this work undertakes a research that aims to achieve multiple perspectives on the aforementioned architectural vestige. Aiming to investigate the origin of this Catholic building (its time period and architectural style), as well as the possible motivations and consequences of its placement at the confluence of two important rivers, concepts from Landscape Archaeology and Archaeology of Architecture were adopted, taking into account both its materiality and potential subjective aspects. Considering that the church is the result of a context of European colonization and expansion and, therefore, of the consolidation of the capitalist system, we fit this study into the archaeologies of capitalism. It is assumed, then, that the Church of Senhor Bom Jesus de Matozinhos may have acted as an instrument of nonverbal communication, representing the domination of those lands, in addition to the conversion of the faithful. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, considering the particularities of the object of study, the focus was directed to three main actions: a) search for primary and secondary sources that dealt with the ruins and the location; b) analysis of its materiality and construction technique and, finally, c) examination of the connection between the building and the landscape, through a description of its position in the environment and how it relates to the surroundings. Through these procedures, it was possible to acquire greater knowledge about the ruins of the Church of Senhor Bom Jesus de Matozinhos, considering the building itself, but also what it can tell us about the historical and regional context
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
