No full textThis interview was conducted by Dr. George Garrison with Robert Robinson with a focus on the History of Emmett Scott High School. Emmett Scott was the segregated high school for African-Americans, which was named after Emmett Scott, a former aide to Booker T. Washington and President Woodrow Wilson. The school opened in 1920 and was closed in 1970 when full integration was implemented in Rock Hill, SC schools.

Get PDFKim Scott suggests in his text I Come from Here by means of yarning that the authority of Indigenous people and language is primary to an authentic sense of place. Scott uses an accumulative, episodic, and personal narrative style to argue that the return to, and consolidation of cultural material in, a community of descendants of the informants must be founded upon principles of community development. Collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people by sharing of ancestral material with ever widening, concentric circles is how this process results in respect and partnership that empowers community life.
Eden Robinson explores in her text 99.99% True & Authentic Tales with humor how the past and present coexist in contemporary Haisla life. Collaborations Between Scott and Skidmore
No full textThis essay examines the collaboration between architect and designer George Gilbert Scott and metalworker Francis Skidmore. It compares their metalwork screens at the cathedrals of Hereford, Lichfield, and Salisbury—projects which sometimes overlapped and were all completed in the relatively short time span between 1861 and 1870—within the wider context of Skidmore’s career. While Scott was lauded in his lifetime and has been much studied since, Skidmore has not often been written about, despite having achieved an impressive scale and pace of work in British cathedrals, parish churches, and town halls. This essay therefore shines particular light on Skidmore’s work as designer and maker, and particularly the high profile commissions for these great cathedrals, restored and enhanced with the aesthetics and ambition of the Victorian era
Sodium chloride in Australian grape juice and its effect on alcoholic and malolactic fermentation
No full textElevated concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCl) are being observed in grape juice and wine, typically because of increasing soil and water salinity. There has been growing concern that the salt content of grapes may affect wine quality and the ability of yeast and bacteria to undertake fermentation and malolactic fermentation, respectively. This study evaluates the tolerance of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Oenococcus oeni to salt in juice and wine by determining the duration of alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation, culture viability, and metabolite production. Increased NaCl concentrations extended fermentation duration by S. cerevisiae and elevated concentrations of acetic acid and glycerol were observed. The effect of NaCl itself was not inhibitory to the O. oeni strains surveyed and in some cases appeared to enhance the extent of malic acid catabolism.Rauri Donkin, Scott Robinson, Krista Sumby, Victoria Harris, Colin McBryde and Vladimir Jirane
