    The bulk of the collection consists of music scores with Robert Alexander's compositions. Also included are a short biographical abstract and a list of his compositions in the collection's first folder.Robert Alexander was born 1883 in Vienna, Austria. He began his formal musical education at age nine and wrote his first composition at age 14 in 1897. In 1898 he began studying the organ at the Vienna Cäcilienverein. After fighting World War I in Russia, his musical career took off in 1919, when he gave a concert with his own compositions. In 1935 he was appointed choirmaster at St. Salvator in Vienna, and he served as an organist at the Vienna Augustinian church. He 1939 he immigrated to New York, where he continued his career as an organist and a composer.Robert Alexander died 1966 in New York.See Inventory List.digitize
