The art of RF (Riba-Free) Islamic banking and finance + website ::tools and techniques for community-based banking /
"Updated and expanded insights into Islamic banking and finance. From Yahia Abdul-Rahman, the father of Riba-Free (RF) banking, comes the expanded edition of the definitive resource that offers an understanding for applying Islamic banking and financial practices. No matter what your faith or religious beliefs, the book shows how to take a modern American approach to incorporating Islamic financial principles into banking and investment techniques. The Art of Islamic Banking and Finance describes the emergence of a culture of Islamic banking and finance today, which is based on the real Judeo-Christian-Islamic spirit and has proven very effective when compared to 20th century models that use financial engineering and structural techniques to circumvent the Shari'aa Law. The author also reveals information about how fiat money is created, the role of the Federal Reserve, and the US banking system. Abdul-Rahman includes a wealth of real-life examples and offers an analysis of how this new brand of banking and financing yields superior results. Offers the fundamentals on Riba-Free (RF) banking; Shows how to apply RF to everything from joint ventures and portfolio management to home mortgages and personal finance; Reveals what it takes to incorporate Shariah Law into US financial systems; Includes information on why RF banking is a socially responsible way to invest; Thoroughly revised and updated, this resource offers a handbook for applying Shari'aa law to American banking and finance"-

The reduction in protected regions of low frequency magnetic fields is a complex problem when the sources are not known. The paper proposes a procedure able to choose the best currents able to mitigate the disturbance field. The magnetic field is represented by suitable series of eigenfunctions in the domain of interest. The procedure includes a field identification step starting from a set of measurements and a current design step, possibly based on a preliminary design of specialized shimming coils sets
Hamka’s tasauf modern: an outlook on happiness
Introduction
Hamka (1908-1981)’s Tasauf Modern (Modern Sufism) first
published in August 1939 was a compilation of an earlier year and
a half series of articles on ‘happiness’ from the weekly columns of
the magazine Pedoman Masjarakat (Guidance for Society) where
he was its chief-editor. The first article which appeared through
the magazine’s circulation, dated 21st April, 1937, came with the
reminder from the author, that he was writing in response to
the requests of the magazines’ faithful followers, especially the
elderly who had gone through so much of life’s hardships (pahitgetir).
UAV-enabled intelligent traffic policing and emergency response handling system for the smart city
As modern cities expand and develop, the resultant increase in population density gives rise to the need for smart solutions to cope with the demands applied to the infrastructure of the city. In this paper, we investigate the shortcomings of traffic policing and emergency response handling systems; propose an intelligent, autonomous UAV-enabled solution; and describe the system in a simulated environment. Several scenarios of traffic monitoring and policing system are considered in the simulation: traffic light violations and accident detection, mobile speeding traps and automated notification, congestion detection and traffic rerouting, flagged stolen vehicles/pending arrest warrants and vehicle tracking using UAVs, and autonomous emergency response handling systems. Furthermore, smart city infrastructure enable intelligent handling of emergencies by providing traffic light prioritization for ground emergency response units to reduce delay for patient care, automated physical bollard on routes with congested points due to accidents or hazards, first responder support UAV units-medical supplies UAV, fire fighting UAV to combat or control small fires, and numerous other benefits. Lastly, we present the results of the simulated system and discuss our findings. This study received financial support from the Special Research Fund (BOF) of Hasselt University, Belgium.

A 3D LADM prototype implementation in INTERLIS
The massive developments and uses of high-rise buildings indicate that the demand for use of space above and below the ground surface is rapidly increasing in recent years. The same applies to Greece, where the existing cadastral model does not cover the 3D needs and does not conform to international standards. In this paper, a model is proposed, considered as an effort for overcoming these shortcomings, based on international standards, including the representation of a wide range of different types of spatial units, organized in levels according to the LA_Level structure of ISO19152 LADM. It is a proposal for a comprehensive multipurpose LAS supporting 2D and 3D cadastral registration in Greece. A prototype system was developed to exploit the strengths and limitations of the proposed conceptual model, as well as to investigate the efficiency of technological tools. Experience from the prototype will be used to further improve the conceptual model. The steps that were followed were: the description of the prototype in UML diagrams, the implementation via INTERLIS, a Swiss standard modeling language for geodata exchange, the selection of the most appropriate technical model/format to implement and visualize the result in 3D environment and finally the conversion and/or creation of sample data into the model. In this paper it is explored how INTERLIS can be used in actual implementation of land administration system based on LADM. During the development of the prototype many design decision have been taken and these are then analyzed, together with technical problems and challenges for future work.OLD Department of GIS Technolog
Intellectual property laws and Islam in Malaysia.
PhDThis study is undertaken on the premise that Islam and Islamic law is to be taken into
serious consideration in any future legislative reform of laws in Malaysia. Islam being
the religion of the country and the strong religious sentiment of the Muslims (who
form the majority in Malaysia) cannot be overlooked or dismissed lightly by the
legislators in Malaysia. Reformation of intellectual property laws is timely, as we are
now approaching to the dateline set by GATF-Trips agreement which aim is to
improve our standard of intellectual property protection. This study seeks to analyze
and evaluate the current legislation pertaining to intellectual property in Malaysia in
terms of the philosophy and rules governing the existence, ownership and exercise of
these rights and their consistency and inconsistency with Islam and Islamic law. The
main objective of this study is to prove that a coherent and logical conceptual
framework of ownership of intellectual property can be derived from an Islamic
perspective which not only offers the basis of rights but also defines the scope of
these rights. From the point of ownership of rights, support can be obtained from the
normative framework of property rights within the traditional classification of 'mal'
(property) and 'haqq al-milkiyyah' (ownership rights) under Islamic law. From the
point of exercise of rights, the exact scope can be defined from the analysis of
fundamental concepts which have been developed by Muslim jurists. It has been
established that Islam and Islamic law offers a sound and systematic paradigm, which
in deeper analysis, can satisfy both our current obligations under international
treatises, as well as our responsibility to practise our religion to the fullest
Perbandingan Penerapan Hasil Metode Admiralty dan Least Square untuk Peramalan Pasang Surut di Selat Bintan, Kepulauan Riau
ABSTRACTThe Bintan Strait is an area where some of the community's activities are influenced by tidal phenomena, such as; sea transportation for shipping, crossing, and traditional fishing. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the tide include; sea level elevation, harmonic constant value, tidal type and tidal forecast for the next year. The calculation of the harmonic constants is carried out using the Admiralty and Least Square methods. This research has been carried out from March to July 2021. Primary data collection of high water level is carried out with the Tide Master instrument for 7 days. In addition to primary data, secondary data used for 22 days of high water levels from BIG (Geospatial Information Agency). The Admitralty and Least Square methods are operated using Microsoft Excel software, while for tidal forecasting analysis using MIKE21 and World Tides software. The results show that the Formzahl Admiralty and Least Square numbers are 0.35 and 0.97, respectively, with the types of tides being mixed tide prevailing semidiurnal. The MSL values for each method of Admiralty and Least Square obtained values of 154.11 cm and 118.37 cm, MHWL = 233.47 and 268.31, LLWL = 43.11 and 254.56, MHWS = 230.22 and 215, 52, MLWS= 78.01 and 21.22, MLWL= 74.75 and -31.57. The results of the forecasting test for the next 3, 6 and 12 months using the Admiralty method produced the smallest RMSE of 0.664.Keywords: Admiralty, Least Square, Tides, Bintan straitABSTRAKSelat Bintan merupakan sebuah daerah dimana sebagian aktivitas masyarakatnya dipengaruhi fenomena pasang surut, seperti; transportasi laut untuk keperluan pelayaran, penyeberangan, maupun penangkapan ikan tradisional.
