This python package was used for numerical examples as reported in the article "Newton Polytopes and Relative Entropy Optimization," by Riley Murray, Venkat Chandrasekaran, and Adam Wierman (arXiv 1810.01614). Sigpy provides an interface to construct specialized optimization models using version 1.0 of the CVXPY python package. In order to solve the resulting optimization models, one must install appropriate third-party optimization engines such as ECOS or MOSEK. The last change to sigpy source code occured on November 17, 2018; sigpy has been superseded by the "sageopt" python package, which remains under development through 2020.Related Publication: Newton Polytopes and Relative Entropy Optimization Riley Murray Caltech, Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences Venkat Chandrasekaran Caltech, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences Adam Wierman Caltech, Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences arXiv preprint 2018-10-02 engContact person: Riley John Murray [email protected]

House on Murray Historic Registry built in 1902; originally owned by John Berger, son of Christian Berger. The adobe structure featured high ceilings and a "firespace" or air pocket, that allowed the house to stay cool in summer and warm in winter. Riley Lane was named for John\u27s grandson, Jack Riley (son of Maggie), who lived on it for his entire life. When ASARCO smelter came, Mr. Berger sold the house and property to the Sturm family. They eventually sold it to the Fritz family

Environmental economics and the Murray-Darling river system

Much concern about the negative environmental consequences of agricultural development in Australia, including salinisation, waterlogging and algal blooms, has focused on the problems of the Murray–Darling Basin. The aim of this article is to provide an overview of the environmental problems of the Murray–Darling Basin from an economic perspective, and a selective survey of the relevant economic literature, including theoretical analysis, modelling and contributions to the development of water policy. In attempting to understand the complex problems of the Murray–Darling Basin, an eclectic approach drawing on externality, sustainability and property rights perspectives seems most appropriate.Environmental Economics and Policy, Resource /Energy Economics and Policy,

State-contingent modelling of the Murray Darling Basin: implications for the design of property rights

    No full text
Questions relating to the allocation and management of risk have played a central role in the development of the National Water Initiative, particularly as it has applied to the Murray-Darling Basin. The central issues of efficiency and equity in allocations are best understood by considering water licenses as bundles of state-contingent claims. The interaction of property rights and uncertainty regarding water flows, production and output prices is modelled using a state-contingent representation of production under uncertainty. The role of technology and investment in the determination of efficient adaptation strategies to manage risks is explored using an illustrative example.

John Courtney Murray and Martin Luther on the Relationship between Church and State

    No full text
In this Article, the views on the relationship between church and state of the twentieth century American Jesuit, John Courtney Murray, are compared with those of the sixteenth century theologian, Martin Luther. The author notes striking similarities between Murray\u27s position and that of Martin Luther as manifest in Luther\u27s doctrine of the two kingdoms. John Courtney Murray is credited with developing the theories that have enabled the Roman Catholic Church to establish a new and effective modern relationship with the state
