IMPRESE FAMILIARI E INNOVAZIONE AMBIENTALE SOSTENIBILE: ANALISI DEL CONTESTO ITALIANO
Purpose. Through a SEW perspective, the paper aims to demonstrate how the characteristics of family firms (i.e. long-term orientation, stakeholder relevance, imagine and reputation), overcoming the Ability and Willingness Paradox, lead this type of firms to be more prone, compared to non-family firms, to develop sustainable environmental innovations. The moderating effect of slack resources is also analyzed, to verify whether they positively influence the propensity and ability of family businesses to develop sustainable environmental innovations.
Design/methodology/approach. Poisson regression models on a sample of 2475 Italian firms.
Findings. Family firms are more prone to develop sustainable environmental innovations, while among slack resources, only the potential slack resources are positive moderators.
Practical and Social implications. Public policy in support of the development of sustainable environmental innovations have assumed a crucial and strategic role in recent years. In this context, the evidence emerging from this research can be the first step for a reflection on the type of public policy to be used. The policy, generally based on the size of the company, should also consider the governance structures and their characteristics.
Originality of the study. The study contributes to research on family firms analyzing the theme of environmental sustainability and investigating the moderating effect of slack resources. In particular, following the SEW approach, it demonstrates the overcoming of the Ability and Willingness Paradox, at least as regards sustainable environmental innovations.
Reconstructing the sequence of massive rock-slope failures in Valle di Tovel, Trentino (Italy)

Using field mapping, remote imagery interpretation (2 m lidar kindly provided by the Autonomous Province of Trento) and cosmogenic 36Cl exposure dating we reconstruct the origin of the blocky deposits in the upper reaches of the Valle di Tovel in the Adamello Brenta Geopark in the Brenta Dolomites. Blocky deposits cover nearly the whole valley floor for a length of about 10 km from an elevation of 1900 down to 900 m a.s.l. Oetheimer (1992) estimated a total volume of more than 300 Mm3. Although several independent bodies, sourced in the steep surrounding rock walls which reach up to 2700 m a.s.l., are apparent (Oetheimer 1992, Ferretti and Borsato 2004) detailed reconstruction of the timing and sequence of the catastrophic events is challenging. Hypotheses for the age and origin of the blocky deposits range from a Lateglacial rock-slope failure onto a glacier (Oetheimer 1992) to mainly 16th century events. At that time, blocking of the outflow led to lake level rise of about 18 m as shown by dendrochronological ages of drowned trees, many of which are still standing on the lake bottom. The lake itself is renowned for the red color due to algal bloom it had during summers up until 1964 (Kulbe et al. 2005). Interpretation of the evolution of the valley involves disentangling the numerous interfering deposits of megablocks released intermittently from the exceptionally steep valley walls. Although there are distinct differences in the amount of vegetation in the different sectors this is clearly not directly translatable into age, and other factors may play just as important a role. Present permafrost is likely restricted to ridge tops above about 2500 m a.s.l. (Boeckli et al. 2012), nevertheless cooling atypical for the elevation of the blocky deposits due to processes like the ‘chimney effect’ (Delaloye et al. 2003) over the course of the Holocene cannot be ruled
This paper aims to examine the attributive matter of Naturalmente chere ogni amadore, one of the three responsive sonnets to the Vita nova. The bi-partite textual tradition doesn’t allow an attributive certainty, and in this study the author recovers the different essays dedicated to the sequence of events, suggesting a few considerations on the literary context and on the connections among Dante, Cino da Pistoia, Terino da Castelfiorentino and the other corrispondents of A ciascun’alma presa.
