Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
Markov Switching Process Monitoring Pergerakan Gelombang Otak Pada Anak Autis
Otak merupakan salah satu organ tubuh yang paling penting dan kompleks yang dimiliki oleh manusia yang mengontrol seluruh aktivitas organ tubuh, aktivitas sehari-hari, dan berperan menetukan emosi. Apabila otak terdapat gangguan, maka kendali aktivitas tubuh akan terganggu. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sebuah alat yaitu electroencephalograph (EEG) yang berperan untuk mendeteksi pergerakan gelombang otak, namun pada penelitian ini pergerakan gelombang otak yang diamati yaitu pada anak autis yang disertai dengan kejang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Sebanyak tujuh Channel dari plot time series menunjukkan pergerakan yang fluktuatif di sekitar nilai rata-rata yang konstan di sepanjang waktu, sedangkan lima belas Channel lainnya menunjukkan pergerakan deret waktu yang cenderung naik turun yang tidak konstan. Tujuh Channel dari visualisasi histogram menyerupai gambar berbentuk lonceng, sehingga sebaran datanya berdistribusi normal, sedangkan lima belas Channel lainnya tidak menyerupai gambar berbentuk lonceng. Hasil monitoring pergerakan gelombang otak dengan markov switching menunjukkan bahwa gelombang otak pada anak autis mengalami abnormal di bagian otak lobus Temporal (di Channel 5 dan Channel 9), bagian otak lobus C (di Channel 16), bagian otak lobus Frontal (di Channel 8), dan bagian otak lobus Parietal (di Channel 17)

The brain is one of the most important and complex organs of the body that is owned by humans it controls all activities of the body's organs, and daily activities, and plays a role in determining emotions. If the brain is disturbed, the control of body activities will be disrupted. Therefore, an electroencephalograph (EEG) is needed, which plays a role in detecting the movement of brain waves, but in this study, the movement of brain waves observed was in autistic children accompanied by seizures. The results of this study indicate that as many as seven Channels of the time series plot show a fluctuating movement around a constant average value over time, while the other fifteen Channels show a time series movement that tends to fluctuate up and down which is not constant. Seven of the histogram visualization Channels resemble bell-shaped images, so the data distribution is normally distributed, while the other fifteen Channels do not resemble bell-shaped images. The results of monitoring the movement of brain waves with Markov switching showed that brain waves in autism children had abnormal in the Temporal lobe (in Channel 5 and Channel 9), the C lobe brain (in Channel 16), the Frontal lobe brain (in Channel 8), and Parietal lobe brain section (in Channel 17
Pengaruh Metanol, Asam Sulfur dan Waktu Terhadap Proses Pemulihan dan Proses Pemurnian pada Dedak Padi
Indonesia sebagai penghasil gabah terbesar ketiga di dunia, memproduksi dedak dalam jumlah besar. Kandungan asam lemak bebas (Free Fatty Acid (FFA)) yang tinggi menyebabkan minyak dedak padi dapat dikonversi menjadi Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (biodiesel) dengan esterifikasi. Dalam percobaan konversi dedak padi, faktor yang diukur adalah banyaknya metanol di dalam dedak padi, konsentrasi asam sulfat di dalam metanol dan waktu reaksi. Respon yang diukur adalah proses pemulihan (recovery) dan proses pemurnian (purify). Berdasarkan permasalahan yang ada dalam penelitian ini, maka diperlukan analisis MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance) pada pemanfaatan dedak padi untuk memodelkan hubungan antara faktor dan respon yang diukur dalam percobaan tersebut. Dikarenakan respon yang diukur ada dua dan saling berkorelasi, maka metode yang dipergunakan untuk penelitian ini adalah MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance). Kesimpulan yang didapat dari penelitian ini adalah banyaknya metanol di dalam dedak padi dan konsentrasi asam sulfur di dalam metanol tidak berpengaruh terhadap proses pemulihan dan proses pemurnian. Waktu reaksi berpengaruh terhadap proses pemulihan (recovery), namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap proses pemurnian (purify). Waktu reaksi yang berbeda terhadap proses pemulihan adalah 90 menit, sedangkan waktu reaksi lainnya tidak berbeda terhadap proses pemulihan.

Indonesia as the third largest producer of grain in the world, produces bran in large quantities. High fatty acid content (Free Fatty Acid (FFA)) causes rice bran oil to be converted to Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (biodiesel) by esterification. In rice bran conversion experiments, the factors measured were the amount of methanol in the rice bran, the concentration of sulfuric acid in methanol and the reaction time. The measured response is the recovery and purification process. Based on the problems in this research, MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance) analysis is needed on the utilization of rice bran to model the relationship between factor and the measured response in the experiment. Because the measured response is two and correlated, the method used for this research is MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance). The conclusion of this research is that the amount of methanol in rice bran and sulfuric acid concentration in methanol have no effect on recovery process and purification process. The reaction time affects the recovery process, but does not affect the purification process. The different reaction times of the recovery process are 90 minutes, while the other reaction time is no different to the recovery process
