The David M. Richards, D. O. Collection
Finding aid for The David M. Richards, D.O. CollectionDr. David M. Richards was president of the University of North Texas Health Science Center from 1986 to 2000. He started working at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1981 as the associate dean for academic affairs; after several promotions he became president in 1986. Dr. Richards was the first osteopathic physician elected as a member-at-large of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and one of the first osteopathic physicians appointed to the Veterans Administration Special Medical Advisory Group. Dr. Richards led the transformation of TCOM into a health science center in 1993 when the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences was funded. Dr. Richards is the third and longest-serving president of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.The David M. Richards, D.O. Collection consists of papers, manuscripts, letters, reports, and notes from the Board of Regents meetings that Dr. Richards collected when he was president of the University of North Texas Health Science Center from 1986-1999
