Nowe spojrzenie na planowanie architektury mieszkaniowej w afryce subsaharyjskiej
The author shares his reflections on state of art in housing and urban planning, deficiencies, expectations and possibilities in the Sahel region of Africa. He notices, that the housing problem in Africa is one of the challenges, which should be solved in order to recover life dignity of African people and secure their rights to traditional family life in acceptable conditions. The paper describes the studies on the typical dispersed urban structures and the need to foster this type of settlement structure and proposals of introduction of new on light steel frame housing system in the area of Sahel, combining the traditional way of building houses with modern technology. The particularly analysed case, is the housing problem in the Republic of Chad. The author presents the basic discussion on this topic and his architectural proposals. Unfortunately, the gap between the needs and the financial feasibility of housing construction in this area, makes this project already at the starting point extremely difficult to be realized without external subventions.
New aspects of polarized light detection in the bee in view of non-twisting rhabdomeric structures
Polarization orientation in the bee is limited to short wavelengths (Frisch, 1967; Heiversen and Edrich, 1974). Although each ommatidium contains three UV-receptors (two long and a short retinula cell) only the short and proximally located ninth retinula cell has a high sensitivity to the plane of polarized light (Menzel and Snyder, 1974). A map over the dorsal eye of the microvillar orientations of the ninth cells was constructed using special fixation techniques that results in minimum distortion of rhabdomeric structures (Ribi, 1979). In a region between the 5th and the 45th horizontal ommatidial row (counted from the top) three ninth cell types (X, V, Y) according to their microvilli directions, were found. One third of 119 observed ninth cells (type X cells) have their microvilli arranged 52°±7° S.D. to the z-axis. A second third of ninth cells (type V cells) have their microvilli 89°±7° S.D. to the z-axis whereas the remaining third of ninth cells (type Y cells) have their microvilli 127°±7° S.D. to the z-axis. The analysis of polarization information based on simultaneous measurements requires at least three inputs for an unambiguous e-vector detection (Kirschfeld, 1972). The pattern of ommatidia as described here is such that three adjacent ommatidia always have ninth cells with three different microvilli directions. It is suggested that such a triplet of ommatidia represents a unit capable of unambiguous e-vector detection
Coloured screening pigments cause red eye glow hue in pierid butterflies
The fine structure of the tracheal tapetum lucidum was investigated in six members of the diurnal lepidopteran family Pieridae. These observations were compared with the eye glow hue on intact eyes, the reflection colour of the incident illuminated tapetum and the distribution of the red screening pigments found in some receptor cells. The eye glow hue of dark adapted pierid eyes appears dark red. Whereas in the speciesColias crocea, C. australis andGonepteryx rhamni the red eye glow is observed all over the eye, appear the uppermost 35 horizontal eye rows in the speciesPieris brassicae, P. napi andP. rapae turquoise to yellow-green. The reflection colour of the tracheal tapetum of all examined pierid eyes is, however, uniformly turquoise to yellow-green all over the eye. In addition no regional structural differences in the tracheal tapetum at the proximal end of the rhabdom were observed. One knows, however, that inPieris brassicae, P. napi andP. rapae in the ventral and medial part of the eye, inColias crocea, C. australis andGonepteryx rhamni in all ommatidia the four proximally located receptor cells 5–8 contain red screening pigment which is arranged close to and even within the rhabdomeric structures (Ribi, 1978a). These observations show that the red eye glow observed in various pierid butterflies depends on coloured retinula cell screening pigment and not on the tracheal and rhabdomeric structures. Morphological and functional aspects of the Lepidopteran tapetum lucidum and the role of the coloured retinula cell pigmentation are discussed
The first optic ganglion of the bee VI: A sexually dimorphic receptor-cell axon
The characterization, distribution, arrangement and branching pattern of the retinal receptor-cell endings in the first and second synaptic region, the lamina and medulla, were studied in various regions of the compound eye of the drone bee. Light- and electron-microscopical Golgi techniques were applied in these investigations. 1) The nine receptor cells in each ommatidium of the drone bee — like in the worker bee (Ribi 1974, 1975, 1979) — end as six short visual fibres (two svf1, two svf2, two svf3) in the lamina, and as three long visual fibres (lvf 1, 2, 3) in the medulla. 2) In the frontal dorsal region of the eye the four receptor cells known to terminate either as svf2 and svf3 axons, respectively, display — in this particular region of the eye — one and the same distinct type of short visual fibre (svf4). 3) This sex-specific short visual fibre shows a highly branched axonal ending, which reaches the proximal part of stratum A. The numerous laterally arranged sidebranches interweave with the nerve fibres of the cartridge and are presynaptically connected with mainly L1 and L2 interneurones. 4) The sex-specific receptor type is found in the field of view where the diameter of ommatidial lenses shows a maximum and which is used while chasing the queen
Colour receptors in the eye of the digger wasp, Sphex cognatus Smith: Evaluation by selective adaptation
Pigment granule migration in pigment cells and retinula cells of the digger wasp Sphex cognatus Smith was analysed morphologically after light adaptation to natural light, dark adaptation and after four selective chromatic adaptations in the range between 358 nm and 580 nm and used as the index of receptor cell sensitivity. The receptor region of each ommatidium consists of nine retinula cells which form a centrally located rhabdom. Two morphologically and physiologically different visual units can be described, defined by the arrangement of the rhabdomeric microvilli, the topographical relationship of the receptor cells with respect to the eye axes and the unique retinula cell screening pigmentation. These two different sets of ommatidia (type A and B) are randomly distributed in a ratio of 1∶3 throughout the eye (Ribi, 1978b). Chromatic adaptation experiments with wavelengths of 358 nm, 443 nm, 523 nm and 580 nm and subsequent histological examination reveal two UV receptors, two blue receptors and four yellow-green receptors in type A ommatidia and two UV receptors and six green to yellow-green receptors in type B ommatidia. The pigments in cells surrounding each ommatidium (two primary pigment cells, 20 secondary pigment cells and four pigmented cone extensions) were not affected significantly by the adaptation experiments

Ewolucja programowa FDP w polityce wschodniej w latach 1949-1969 w świetle nowych zasobów Archiwum Niemieckiego Liberalizmu
Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest analiza działalności programowej FDP w polityce wschodniej Republiki Federalnej Niemiec w latach 1949-1969. Autor wykorzystał nowe zasoby Archiwum Niemieckiego Liberalizmu w Gummersbach, co umożliwiło przedstawienie nowej oceny wpływu FDP na politykę wschodnią Republiki Federalnej Niemiec. The main goal of the article is to analyze the FDP's program activities in the eastern policy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the years 1949-1969. Of great importance here is the fact that the author used in this work new archives from the Archives of German Liberalism in Gummersbach. This enabled him to present a new assessment of the FDP's impact on the eastern policy of the Federal Republic of Germany
Zasady szacowania gruntów w postępowaniach scaleniowych w Polsce
The subject of the study was the principles of land estimation used for the purpose of consolidation
proceedings, as they are applied in Poland.
The work examines the legal conditions relating to the estimation of land for the purposes of
consolidation. Documents prepared in the years 2005–2017 concerning land estimation (resolutions
of the consolidation participants, and protocols from the value estimates) have been
collected for 41 consolidated sites, located in 28 districts of 11 voivodships (regions). A survey
was conducted among the surveyors-designers of the consolidation proceedings, consisting of
19 questions. In the current year, the co-author of the present article was present at meetings of
consolidation proceedings’ participants, convened in order to determine the rules for estimating
land value on two sites located in different regions, and the material she collected during those
meetings was used in the article.
The collected data were subjected to an analysis, which showed that within Poland there is no
homogeneity in the method of estimating land value for the purpose of consolidation proceedings,
and that the method used to determine the value of land, taking into account the 1-hectare
estimated rate, and the price of 1dt of rye grain, according to the provisions of the agricultural
tax, is incompatible with the principles for the valuation of agricultural real estate, as specified in
the law on real estate management.
