Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

No full textIn the light of the Psychodinamics of Work, this study aims to analyze the cooperation in face of impasses and the constraints of the organization of teaching work in the municipal public schools of Sobral, a city in the countryside of the state of Ceará. Important concepts of Psychodynamics of work and aspects of managerialism were discussed in order to understand the organization of teaching work in Sobral City public schools and the life processes that emanate from the activity, as well as the goal-based management that involves it. The research, based on the qualitative approach, was based in the dejouriana Pshycodinamic, with data produced through daily routine observations in loco and 10 interviews with fifth grade and middle school teachers from Senador Carlos Jereissati e Dr. Antônio Custódio de Azevedo middle schools, respectively. Data were analised and based on the content analysis according Bardin (2016), emerging the following categories afterwards: 1) “I think the goals are a bit absurd, but we cannot change: the organization of teaching work; 2) “We are a family”: cooperation from the perspective of teachers; 3) “We are a very united team”: recognition at work, and 4) between pleasure and suffering: being a teacher of basic education. It was found that the organization of the teaching work is crossed by managerial ideology and marked by the management by goals with repercussions in the teachers’ mental health of the municipal public-school system. However, it was possible to identify signs of cooperation in the colletive work, interpreted as subjective mobilization, inseparable of the living together, and strong bonds based on trust in the work relationships. It was also possible to identify the importance of acknowledgment and its relation to the formation of identifying processes in the school context. Finally, it is believed that the realization of this study allowed the knowledge of the teaching work organization at public schools in Sobral, knowing the real work endured by the teachers in the school context, allowing a bigger exploration of the concept of cooperation in the light of the Psychodynamics of work, a concept that is rarely debated and investigated in surveys based on the dejouriana PsychodynamicsÀ luz da Psicodinâmica do Trabalho, este estudo objetiva analisar a cooperação frente aos impasses e os constrangimentos da organização do trabalho docente em escolas públicas municipais na cidade de Sobral, no interior do Ceará. Conceitos importantes da Psicodinâmica do Trabalho e aspectos do Gerencialismo foram discutidos, visando compreender a organização do trabalho docente nas escolas públicas da cidade de Sobral e os processos de vida que emanam da atividade, assim como a gestão baseada em metas que o envolve. A pesquisa com abordagem qualitativa foi realizada com base na Psicodinâmica dejouriana, com dados produzidos por meio de observações diretas do cotidiano escolar e de 10 entrevistas com professores do quinto ano do ensino fundamental I e do fundamental I e II das escolas Senador Carlos Jereissati e Dr. Antônio Custódio de Azevedo respectivamente. Os dados foram analisados com base na Análise de conteúdo conforme Bardin (2016), emergindo a posteriori as seguintes categorias: 1) “eu acho as metas um pouco absurdas, mas não podemos mudar”: a organização do trabalho docente; 2) “ nós somos uma família”: cooperação sob a ótica dos professores; 3) “nós somos uma equipe muito unida”: reconhecimento no trabalho, e 4) entre o prazer e o sofrimento: ser professor da educação básica. Constatou-se que a organização do trabalho é atravessada pela ideologia gerencialista e marcada pela gestão por metas com repercussões na saúde mental dos professores da rede pública municipal de ensino. No entanto, foi possível identificar sinais de cooperação no coletivo de trabalho, interpretada como mobilização subjetiva, indissociável ao viver junto e com fortes relações com a confiança nas relações de trabalho. Foi possível identificar também a importância do reconhecimento e sua relação com a formação dos processos identitários no contexto escolar. Por fim, acredita-se que a realização deste estudo permitiu o conhecimento da organização do trabalho docente nas escolas públicas em Sobral, conhecendo o real do trabalho enfrentado pelos professores nesse contexto escolar, possibilitando ainda uma maior explanação do conceito de cooperação à luz da Psicodinâmica do Trabalho, conceito este pouco debatido e investigado nos estudos alicerçados pela Psicodinâmica dejourianaFundação Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES
