Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.Organic light emitting transistors (OLETs) combine, in the same device, the function of an electrical switch with the capability of generating light under appropriate bias conditions. In this work, we demonstrate how engineering the dielectric layer based on high-k polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-based polymers can lead to a drastic reduction of device driving voltages and the improvement of its optoelectronic properties. We first investigated the morphology and the dielectric response of these polymer dielectrics in terms of polymer (P(VDF-TrFE) and P(VDF-TrFE-CFE)) and solvent content (cyclopentanone, methylethylketone). Implementing these high-k PVDF-based dielectrics enabled low-bias ambipolar organic light emitting transistors, with reduced threshold voltages (<20 V) and enhanced light output (compared to conventional polymer reference), along with an overall improvement of the device efficiency. Further, we preliminary transferred these fluorinated high-k dielectric films onto a plastic substrate to enable flexible light emitting transistors. These findings hold potential for broader exploitation of the OLET platform, where the device can now be driven by commercially available electronics, thus enabling flexible low-bias organic electronic devices.Peer reviewe

    C.S. Lewis is a scholar and author most popularized in the Christian culture. His works range from childhood fantasy to theological substance. Although his works are utilized by many institutions, the conversion of Lewis has served as a beacon of inspiration for many as an atheist turned believer. The experiences in his own life shaped the subjects and discussion within his writings, and I think his journey in life speaks volumes through his books. The works I plan to experience are The Abolition of Man, The Problem of Pain, Miracles, A Grief Observed, The Screwtape Letters, Mere Christianity, The Great Divorce, and C.S. Lewis: A Biography. I hope to join his journey and take along my readers to read his theological works and study his biography, documenting my developments and sharing my journey as well. Lewis, we will let Jack speak about himself through his letters: what he loved, such as books, seasons/weather, walking tours, bathing, Ireland, animals, convalescence, Joy, and writing; what he loathed: writing letters, Americans, cities, TV, newspapers, movies, modern novels/poetry/theology; what he feared; what he didn\u27t understand; and what he regretted, as well as his descriptions of what he looked like, what he did well, what he did badly. I will force myself with Great Difficulty (because of all the choice bits I will have to leave out) to limit these tastes of his sixty-year three-volume, 3,600 page, 9-1/2 pound correspondence to what can be savored in twenty minutes! \u27Parascriptural\u27 Revelation in C.S. Lewis - J.C. Calhoun In the theology of C.S. Lewis, God is rather verbose and unrestrained in the manners and means of communication. God must be understood as the speaking God; anything less will not do Him justice. The few extant works about Lewis\u27s theology of revelation focus on scripture, and though this is an important topic, one cannot understand it properly without first understanding how God speaks in general. This paper explicates his epistemology as a foundation, and then under the rubric of basic communication theory (author, text, recipient, re-texting), presents eleven \u27parascriptural\u27 paths through which God speaks as mentioned in Lewis\u27s writings. The term \u27parascriptural\u27 - \u27para\u27 in the sense of \u27beside\u27 or \u27alongside of\u27 - is used instead of \u27General Revelation\u27 because the traditional division between General and Special Revelation forces categories upon Lewis that are alien to his thought. After presenting these eleven paths, they are categorized and related back to his epistemology.     [cat] C.S. Lewis és un autor generalment interpretat dins un corrent platònic o neoplatònic tant pel que fa als seus textos narratius com als assagístics. El que planteja aquesta tesi és una altra presentació. És a dir, se li dóna la volta perquè aparegui en tant que aristotèlic. Hi ha molts elements per sostenir aquesta posició, i aquí s'analitzen amb una remissió contínua a textos d'Aristòtil i a la seva filosofia. Tanmateix, abans d'entrar en matèria hi ha una biografia esquemàtica de Lewis per posar en context el lector. Així, els quatre punts fonamentals de l'aristotelisme de Lewis són: 1. L'assumpció de la doctrina de l'acte d'Aristòtil. Aquí la divisió és triple: l'acte com a moviment, l'acte com a forma i l'acte com a operació. 2. La interpretació de l'acte com a acció política. Aquesta part té una divisió doble: el bé com a acte polític i la perversió de la ciència en un cientisme que desemboca en totalitarisme polític. 3. L'acceptació del finalisme natural aristotèlic enfront de les doctrines materialistes. Es tracten les nocions de teleologisme, atzar, selecció natural i evolucionisme, entre d'altres. 4. L'enfrontament amb el relativisme contemporani mitjançant l'aristotelisme. Aquí trobem tres punts: la moral objectiva enfront del relativisme moral, el relativisme epistemològic i la filosofia futura, i la recuperació de l'humanisme clàssic. Lewis is an author generally interpreted in the Platonic or Neo-Platonic trends, both through his narrative texts and through his essays. What this thesis defends is another presentation, which is focusing on his Aristotelian points of view. There are many elements to sustain this position, and in this thesis they are analyzed with continuous reference to the texts of Aristotle and his philosophy. In case the reader is not aware about C.S. Lewis' life, there is a small biography at the beginning of the work. Later on, the four main divisions have been developed as follows: 1. The Aristotelian doctrine of the act in the texts of C.S. Lewis. This chapter is divided in three parts: the act as movement; the act as shape; and the act as an operation. 2. The interpretation of the act as political action. Here the division is double: the good as a political act, and the perversion of science in scientism which leads to totalitarianism. 3. The acceptance of Aristotelian teleologism in front of materialistic views of natural systems. 4. The clash of C.S. Lewis, with the help of Aristotelian philosophy, against the contemporary relativism. Furthermore, we can't forget that Lewis had a profound Platonic basis, which is briefly analyzed in four points: 1. The elements which are strictly narrative. 2. The spiritual dimension or fourth dimension. 3. Memory and reminiscence. 4. The cardinal virtues of Platonic origin. Finally, the conclusions are divided in three points: 1. Theological repercussion of Lewis. 2. Literary repercussion. 3. Philosophical and political repercussion

    International audienceMuch has been written in the last decades about C.S. Lewis and his friendship with men such as Charles Williams or J.R.R. Tolkien but the nature of his opposition with T.S. Eliot has somewhat remained obscure. Indeed, very few people are today aware that the Christian apologist and author of The Chronicles of Narnia had found his nemesis in the acclaimed poet and receiver of the Nobel Prize in Literature. However, that enmity was more than a simple battle of wits between two intellectuals. Consequently, this paper studies what could possibly be Lewis's reasons for hating Eliot and underlines that their religious, academic and national identities were central in their opposition.De nombreuses études existent sur l'amitié entre C.S. Lewis et J.R.R. Tolkien ou Charles Williams, toutefois la nature de l'opposition entre Lewis et T.S. Eliot est restée obscure. En effet, rare sont aujourd'hui sachant que le célèbre apologiste et romancier vouait une haine farouche envers le prix Nobel de littérature. Or, cette inimitié fut bien plus qu'une simple rivalité intellectuelle. L'objet de cette étude est donc de montrer quelles furent les raisons de cette confrontation et de mettre en lumière que celle-ci fut alimentée par leur différence d'identité religieuse, nationale et académique

    C.S. Lewis as Transformational Leader

    The term leadership usually evokes images of great warriors, politicians, or social figures that saturate the pages of a history textbook. However, these are pre-conceived notions of the term. Leaders are those who exercise influence, be they soldiers, politicians, or even artists such as writers and musicians. One such leader is author and apologist C.S. Lewis. Lewis spoke to his generation (and many subsequent ones) in his texts. Through Lewis, many have achieved a greater understanding of literature, spirituality, and human nature. His words have, in essence, transformed the minds of readers. Transformational leadership is desired because it performs what is implied in its title: it transforms others. Transformational leaders increase both motivation and morality in their followers. They lead with conviction, ultimately empowering followers to become leaders. Bass (1985) posits that transformational leaders exhibit four qualities: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration. Upon exploring transformational leadership theory, it is evident that C.S. Lewis exhibits all four qualities of a transformational leader. Lewis has led many from the desert of spiritual ambiguity into a better understanding of God and of ourselves. His words still resonate in culture and demonstrate the lasting influence of his legacy

    Mythology and Moral in C.S. Lewis's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

    I think almost everyone has heard of Narnia, the magical world accessible through a wardrobe. As a child I saw it as a beautiful story about how good defeats evil and never put more thought into it. Not until I read the book as an adult did I see the symbolism of Christian beliefs in the story. The story also contains a lot of mythical creatures and my personal interest in mythology made me want to investigate this further. I could never have guessed how many people there are that have strong opinions on this book and the author in question, C.S. Lewis. After investigating these interpretations and analysing the text, my conclusion is that C.S. Lewis tried to tell us more than just an ordinary fairy-tale, since many of the characters and events can be interpreted in several different ways. My interpretations are one way of looking at the novel and there are of course many other ways of interpreting it. I have chosen to look closer at and concentrate on only a few characters and events where I think C.S. Lewis's opinions and moral are expressed. I have investigated what the characters could stand for and from which mythology they are taken. In two cases I will show the different use of mythology in the British and the American edition and how that affects the characters. In my analysis of the events I have tried to interpret what moral issues C.S. Lewis is expressing
