Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Comunita(R)t.
To understand and analyze the spaces that, through community art, foster a sense of belonging in the Raval neighborhood, the theoretical framework of Comunita(R)t was first designed. This framework organizes key information that supports the research into different analytical categories. Subsequently, the contextual framework was drafted, which includes a description of the current situation in the Raval neighborhood from the perspective of community art. Next, fieldwork is carried out, involving interviews with six community art professionals: four individual interviews and one group interview with two people. The aim is to discover the nature and functioning of these spaces in order to contribute to fostering a sense of belonging among members of a community. Once the research techniques have been implemented, their results are analyzed, demonstrating the strength of this tool not only as a key element that enables connection among community members, but also as a powerful driver of transformation and social change. Finally, some of the results are discussed in relation to the theoretical contributions of renowned authors, and the research is concluded with the final reflections

"Closing the R&D Gap, Evaluating the Sources of R&D Spending"
Both spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.

In October 2011, the SEC issued new guidelines for disclosure of cybersecurity risks. Some firms responded to these guidelines by issuing new risk factor disclosures. This paper examines the guidelines and cybersecurity disclosures in the context of existing laws governing securities regulation. It then examines empirical results from firm disclosures following the new guidelines. Evidence shows a relatively small proportion of firms chose to modify their risk factor disclosures, with most firms choosing not to disclose any specific cybersecurity risk. Moreover, disclosing firms generally experienced significant negative stock market price effects on account of new disclosures. Rather than viewing disclosure a positive signal of management attentiveness, investors apparently viewed it as a cautionary sign.11-347
Information Security Journal: A Global Perspective
This study examines the impact of reported breaches in computer security using event study analysis. We use the event-study methodology to measure the magnitude of the effect of data security breach events on the behavior of stock markets. Our data come from security breaches spanning a ten-year period and involving various industries. The findings of the study suggest that there exist abnormal negative stock price returns following the announcement of a breach. Such abnormal negative returns persist over the next several years. Moreover, the source of data breach may moderate the price effect; the market tends to punish more heavily those compromises that could have been avoided with reasonable precautions by the breached company.6263-2731
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
