Mediação da leitura em bibliotecas públicas
No full textDiscusses the mediation of reading in public libraries in contemporary society and the role of mediator librarian reading these cultural facilities. The survey, order exploratory and qualitative, objective analysis of mediation activities developed in public libraries Administrative Region of Marilia, which comprises 51 municipalities, among which the sample we selected for this study. Considering the universe of libraries that develop reading mediation, we question the character of those actions from the point of view of what is distinguished as appropriation of reading, reading promotion and excitement of reading. From these considerations, it was proposed the following objectives: identify monitoring activities of reading in public libraries in order to understand the scope of these institutions within the field of training practices reader, and study skills in information librarian mediator reading in the public library, addressing the social role and their participation in the formation of the readers. Given these considerations, the problem of this research sought to find answers to the following question: how public libraries of Marilia/SP are developing mediation actions of reading, to generate communities of users able to competently integrate the informational universe and sociocultural ? These reflections express cogitations in several activities focused on the reader, as standalone or in training, but also in combining the theory of reading the referrals of pedagogical practice, seeking to understand how this action in everyday public libraries, and work done by the librarianDiscute a mediação da leitura nas bibliotecas públicas na sociedade contemporânea e o papel do bibliotecário mediador da leitura nesses equipamentos culturais. A pesquisa, de ordem exploratória e qualitativa, objetiva a análise das atividades de mediação desenvolvidas nas bibliotecas públicas e municipais da Região Administrativa de Marília, que compreende 51 municípios, dentre os quais selecionou-se a amostra para este estudo. Considerando o universo de bibliotecas que desenvolvem mediação da leitura, questiona-se o caráter dessas ações do ponto de vista daquilo que se distingue como apropriação da leitura, promoção da leitura e animação da leitura. Diante dessas reflexões, a problemática desta pesquisa buscou encontrar respostas para a seguinte questão: como as bibliotecas públicas municipais da Região Administrativa de Marília/SP estão desenvolvendo ações de mediação de leitura, de modo a gerar comunidades de usuários aptos a se integrarem competentemente no universo informacional e sociocultural ? Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Em busca de um conceito para a mediação cultural em bibliotecas: contribuições conceituais
No full textIn this study we advance a concept for cultural mediation in libraries drawing on Brazilian and French Information Science. This study took a qualitative approach and was exploratory and descriptive in nature. We combined methods of bibliographic research and field research and applied content analysis to the collected data. We found several elements that could be incorporated into a concept of cultural mediation in libraries. We proposed the following definition: “Cultural mediation in libraries is the set of processes, interferences and devices that provide library customers with access to culture and thus help them build meanings and knowledge, develop socially and culturally and play greater cultural roles”. Such concept of cultural mediation in libraries is related to various processes and interactions, to the construction of meanings, to the paradigms of access and democratization of culture, to cultural policies, to appropriation and to cultural leadership and proeminence.O objetivo deste estudo foi a construção de um conceito para a mediação cultural em bibliotecas com base na Ciência da Informação no Brasil e França. A pesquisa possui uma abordagem qualitativa, de tipo exploratóriodescritivo, adotando-se os métodos de pesquisa bibliográfica e pesquisa de campo e aplicando-se a análise de conteúdo aos dados coletados. Verificaram-se diversos elementos que puderam ser utilizados para propor um conceito de mediação cultural em bibliotecas, formulado assim: “Mediação cultural em bibliotecas é o conjunto de processos, interferências e dispositivos que possibilitam a apropriação cultural, colaborando na construção de significados com o intuito de alcançar o protagonismo cultural e o desenvolvimento sociocultural”. Médiathèques como centros informacionais de desenvolvimento das ações culturais municipais: o caso da cidade de Lille/França
Get PDFObjective: To describe the historical background, concept, characteristics and services of the municipal mediathèques of Lille, France. Thus, aiming to collaborate in the dissemination of French libraries in Brazilian territory through their paradigm, historical perspective, practices and services.Methods: This is a descriptive case study of a qualitative nature, also using bibliographic and documentary research. The search and selection of bibliographic materials that made up the theoretical framework of the research was carried out through French documents on websites, databases and printed materials.Results: In the mid-1970s, public libraries in France were renamed mediathèques. Conceived as a new cultural space, mediathèques (media libraries, multimedia libraries or media libraries) are based on the modern library paradigm, thus being linked to new professional practices, new (audiovisual) documents, new forms communication and information flows, reverting to new forms of access and representation of the library to society.Conclusions: The transformation of French libraries into media théques denotes, among many factors, the evolution of reading tastes and practices, the new forms of access and appropriation of emerging information flows, positioning themselves and representing for society a modern, necessary institution. welcoming and democratic.Objetivo: Descrever o retrospecto histórico, o conceito, as características e os serviços das médiathèques municipais de Lille, França. Almejando-se, desse modo, em colaborar na divulgação das bibliotecas francesas em território brasileiro através de seu paradigma, perspectiva histórica, práticas e serviços.Método: Trata-se de um estudo de caso descritivo, de natureza qualitativa, utilizando-se também a pesquisa bibliográfica e documental. A busca e seleção dos materiais bibliográficos que compuseram o referencial teórico da pesquisa efetivou-se através de documentos franceses em sites, bases de dados e materiais impressos.Resultado: Em meados de 1970, as bibliotecas públicas na França passaram a ser denominadas de médiathèques. Concebidas como um novo espaço cultural, as médiathèques (bibliotecas de mídia, biblioteca multimídia ou midiateca), estão pautadas no paradigma moderno de biblioteca, vinculando-se, desse modo, a novas práticas profissionais, a novos documentos (audiovisuais), a novas formas de fluxos de comunicação e informação, revertendo-se em novas formas de acesso e representação da biblioteca para a sociedade.Conclusões: A transformação das bibliotecas francesas em médiathéques denotam, entre diversos fatores, a evolução dos gostos e práticas de leitura, as novas formas de acesso e apropriação de fluxos informacionais emergentes, posicionando-se e representando para a sociedade uma instituição moderna, necessária, acolhedora e democrática

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
