    Impact of urea-molasses treated wheat straw levels in total mixed rations on growth and nutrient digestibility in Azikheli buffalo calves

    This study investigates the impact of urea molasses-treated wheat straw on growth performance and nutrient digestibility in Azikheli buffalo male calves. A longitudinal experiment was conducted on sixteen calves, randomly assigned to four experimental dietary treatments (n = 4 per group). The experimental diets included a control group (U0) with untreated wheat straw and three groups where urea molasses-treated wheat straw replaced 33% (U33), 66% (U66), or 100% (U100) of the straw in the total mixed ration. Results indicated that increasing the proportion of urea-treated wheat straw from 0 to 100% led to significant improvements in dry matter intake (from 2931 to 4034&nbsp;g/day) and organic matter intake (from 2596 to 3623&nbsp;g/day). Digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, and crude fiber also followed an increasing trend, reaching 77.42%, 81.21%, 87.10%, and 60.22%, respectively, at the highest urea-treated wheat straw level. Furthermore, weight gain was significantly greater in calves fed 100% urea-treated wheat straw, followed by those in the U66, U33, and U0 groups. Feed conversion efficiency improved substantially in the U100 and U66 groups than U33 and U0. These findings suggest that incorporating higher levels of UMTWS in total mixed rations enhances nutrient digestibility, promoting superior growth performance and feed efficiency in Azikheli buffalo calves

    Does Inequality Matter for Poverty Reduction? Evidence from Pakistan’s Poverty Trends

    The paper explores the linkages between poverty, growth and inequality in the context of Pakistan. Time series macro data are used for the period 1979 to 2002. Consistent poverty and inequality measures are interpolated to facilitate the estimation of poverty elasticity with respect to growth and inequality in a multivariate regression framework. The paper also attempts to find out macroeconomic and structural correlates of inequality. The empirical findings—high poverty elasticity with respect to inequality measures—confirm the importance of inequality in poverty reducing effort. Inflation, sectoral wage gap, and terms of trade in favour of manufacturing exacerbate inequality, while progressive taxation, investment and development expenditure on social services play a significant role in reducing inequality.     Global remittances experienced a dramatic increase over the years, particularly since 1990 wherein the developing world emerged to be the major beneficiary accounting for 60 percent of the total amount. Because of the sheer volume, and magnitude of the remittances, and pre-eminence of these flows compared to the FDIs, development assistance and in some cases the trade related transactions, the development practitioners tended to focus and investigate the importance of remittances which are generally regarded as a dependable source for growth, improved welfare and poverty alleviation in the developing world. Given the fact that remittances flows entail wide ranging ramifications both for sending as well as receiving countries, difficult to be generalised, hence empirical evidence has been mounted though lack of consensus is visible.

    The thesis under review consists of an analytical study of three literary term books. The first book of the thesis under review is Literary Terminology, which is authored by Dr. Haroon ul-Rashid. This book contains a total of one hundred and sixty-nine pages. It was published for the first time in March two thousand eighteen. The author has clearly admitted in the beginning of this book that this book has been compiled by me only for the guidance of students by using other literary terminology books. This book is very short in terms of length, explaining only 90 linguistic and literary terms. All the poetic or prose examples mentioned in the above book are without reference which creates many doubts about the book’s authenticity and authenticity. The second book of the comment article is Terminology written by Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Kamal. This book was published for the first time in 2017. It is a thick book containing a total of 502 pages in which the author has combined 471 common terms in alphabetical order has tried unsuccessfully to explain a few terms only with excessive brevity. Overall, this book is very useful for Urdu readers. The third book of the article under comment is Literary Terminology, the author of which is retired Professor Anwar Jamal. This book has a fundamental importance in the terminological books of Urdu literature. This is the reason why several editions of this book have been printed so far. Author has masterfully explained the meaning, connotation and background of each term with brevity and comprehensiveness in such a way that no confusion remains for the reader

One of the goals of this thesis was to share our experiences with the staff at the Muhammad Ali Parkinson's Center, and the teenagers who will be taking over this group in the future. We discuss why we wanted to start the group, how it's foundation was built, and the challenges we faced and overcame.     Simulations of Graphene Nanoribbon Field Effect Transistor for the Detection of Propane and Butane Gases: A First Principles Study

    During the last few years graphene has emerged as a potential candidate for electronics and optoelectronics applications due to its several salient features. Graphene is a smart material that responds to any physical change in its surrounding environment. Graphene has a very low intrinsic electronic noise and it can detect even a single gas molecule in its proximity. This property of graphene makes is a suitable and promising candidate to detect a large variety of organic/inorganic chemicals and gases. Typical solid state gas sensors usually requires high operating temperature and they cannot detect very low concentrations of gases efficiently due to intrinsic noise caused by thermal motion of charge carriers at high temperatures. They also have low resolution and stability issues of their constituent materials (such as electrolytes, electrodes, and sensing material itself) in harsh environments. It accelerates the need of development of robust, highly sensitive and efficient gas sensor with low operating temperature. Graphene and its derivatives could be a prospective replacement of these solid-state sensors due to their better electronic attributes for moderate temperature applications. The presence of extremely low intrinsic noise in graphene makes it highly suitable to detect a very low concentration of organic/inorganic compounds (even a single molecule ca be detected with graphene). In this article, we simulated a novel graphene nanoribbon based field effect transistor (FET) and used it to detect propane and butane gases. These are flammable household/industrial gases that must be detected to avoid serious accidents. The effects of atmospheric oxygen and humidity have also been studied by mixing oxygen and water molecules with desired target gases (propane and butane). The change in source-to-drain current of FET in the proximity of the target gases has been used as a detection signal. Our simulated FET device showed a noticeable change in density of states and IV-characteristics in the presence of target gas molecules. Nanoscale simulations of FET based gas sensor have been done in Quantumwise Atomistix Toolkit (ATK). ATK is a commercially available nanoscale semiconductor device simulator that is used to model a large variety of nanoscale devices.
