Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
Identification And Structure Of The Seastar Community (Asteroidea) In Bontang Kuala Perairan, Gusung Segajah District Bontang City
Based on research conducted found 6 species of starfish, namely Archaster typicus, Protoreaster nodosus, Culcita novaeguineae, Linckia laevigata, L. multifora, and Echinaster luzonicus. The highest index of diversity in the dark moon is at 0,892 and when the tide is 0,162 which means low community stability, the highest uniformity index at full month that is, at low tide 0,766 and at tide 0,147 the ecosystem is less stable, the dominance index with value 1 in Western Station at high tide when full moon or dark moon with dominance of species of Protoreaster nodosus, density and highest relative density on species P. nodosus ie 3,90 ind / m2 and 90,7%, highest relative frequency and frequency in species of P.nodosus with an average of 0,097 and 78,15%, which means that this species has the greatest adaptability among other species, an important value index where the highest value in the analysis of community structure is in the species of Protoreaster nodosus so that this species has the greatest role in the community, as well as the results of the correspondence analysis calculations show that the salinity was effect the most on every stations in Gusung Segajah, where the southern stations are most affected by changes in the salinity
PENDUGAAN UMUR UDANG BINTIK PUTIH (Metapenaeus lysianassa) HASIL TANGKAPAN SIANG HARI DI PERAIRAN SAMBOJA KUALA KABUPATEN KUTAI KARTANEGARA
The waters of Samboja Kuala are areas rich in fishery resources. Bird Shrimp (Metapenaeus lysianassa) is one of the biggest catches in Samboja Kuala, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, this shrimp is caught using trawl during the day. The purpose of this study is to determine the sex ratio, estimated age of shrimp, estimated mortality, and recruitment patterns. This research was conducted in November-December 2019. The result showed that the sex ratio of male and female Bird Shrimp (Metapenaeus lysianassa) was 1.00: 26.78. The growth rate (K) of male Bird Shrimp was 0.39 and in female Bird Shrimp was 0.86 and the estimated value of length in nature (L∞) of male Bird Shrimp was 66.59 and in female Bird Shrimp was 80,11. Mortality rates in male Bird Shrimp die faster than female shrimp caused by factors of natural conditions. The new addition (Recruitment) of Bird Shrimp occurred at the peak of August with the proportion in male shrimp of 22.88%, and in female shrimp of 22.17%
STUDI HASIL TANGKAPAN SAMPINGAN (BYCATCH) DAN BUANGAN (DISCARDS) PADA BAGAN PERAHU DI PERAIRAN MATAHA KABUPATEN BERAU
This study aims to determine the bycatch and discard catch atboat lift nets in the Mataha waters,Berau Regency, as well as one of the benchmarks for determining the selectivity of these fishing gears known by analyzing existing data. The research was conducted from February to March 2018. Analysis of the data was the measurement of the length and weight of the catch, percentage of catch, relative abundance, frequency of relative emergence and assessment of the environment of the boat lift netsfishing environment. The results showedthe types of catches obtained during the study were 108 species which were divided into groups of pisces, crustaceans and molluscs. A total weight of 23.5 tons obtained consisting of the main catch,by-catch and discard catch. Based on the assessment of environmental friendliness shows a score of 6, meaning that the boat lift nets in these waters is less environmental friendly
STUDI MORFOMETRIK UDANG BINTIK COKLAT JANTAN DAN BETINA (Metapenaeopsis barbata) YANG TERTANGKAP PADA MALAM HARI DI PERAIRAN SAMBOJA KUALA KABUPATEN KUTAI KARTANEGARA
The Samboja Kuala region is one of the abundant resources, and fishermen in Samboja Kuala usually catch shrimp in the day and night using trawls. This research was conducted for 5 weeks, from November 2019 to December 2019 and located in Samboja Kuala Sub-District. Data analysis for morphometric characters of male and female Whiskered Velvet Shrimp (Metapenaeopsis barbata) used statistical descriptive analysis. Character growth in male and female Whiskered Velvet Shrimp (Metapenaeopsis barbata) there are 3 indications, namely growth toward right, left, and center. Morphometric characteristics in male and female Whiskered Velvet Shrimp(Metapenaeopsis barbata) showing pointing to the left (Mean greater than Mode) are found in the characters RST, PK, PRD, PRT, PRE, PRL, PRN, TLS, PKB, PPB, PDB, PTB, PEB, PLB, PNB, and PTK. On the right-hand graph (Mean smaller than Mode) found in the PRP and PE characteristics)
