Numerical simulation of ram extrusion in short-fiber-reinforced fresh cementitious composites
This is the author's accepted manuscript. The final published article is available from the link below. First published in JoMMS in 4(10), 2009, published by Mathematical Sciences Publishers.A series of ram extrusion tests was carried out on a short-fiber-reinforced, semisolid, fresh cementitious composite. An elastoviscoplastic constitutive model is proposed for the extrudable fresh cementitious composite. It features the associative flow rule, a nonlinear strain rate-hardening law, and the von Mises yield criterion. The model is then implemented in ANSYS/LS-DYNA explicit finite element code.
Various ram extrusion processes of the fresh cementitious composite were simulated. It has been found that the extrusion load versus imposed displacement predictions agree well with the experimental results. The fresh paste flow, through the die entry and the die-land, is then interpreted in light of the evolution of the deformation and distribution of state variables, mainly based on numerical results and the ram extrusion mechanism.
The effects of extrusion ratio and extrusion velocity on extrusion load are also investigated, based on the mechanical properties of the fresh cementitious composite. The study indicates that the numerical procedure established, together with the constitutive model proposed, is applicable for describing ram extrusion of short-fiber-reinforced fresh cementitious composites, which might provide a numerical rheometric tool from which ram extrusion of elastoviscoplastic paste-like materials can be examined and quantified.Hong Kong Research Grant Council and China Ministry of Science and Technology
ram n: ram pasture
ram nAccording to one informant, 'there were no rooms in the bunkhouses then. .they were just one big ram-pasture'. The phrase 'ram pasture' has been used to refer to the sleeping quarters of a lobster-packing factory in Prince Edward Island. .as well as to the large one-room accommodations for loggers in the bunkhouses of Maine. Influence of gastrointestinal trichostrongylidosis on ram fertility
A study on the influence of gastrointestinal trichostrongyles on ram fertility was performed.
Two groups of semen donor rams (Sarda breed) were utilized; one was experimentally infected with
Haemonchus contortus, Trichostrongylus colubriformis and Teladorsagia circumcincta and the other
was used as a control group. In all animals, coprological, haematological and reproductive parameters
were studied. The results suggest that the parasites had a limited effect with some changes
in phosphorus, cholesterol and chlorine levels. In our experience the parasitic burden produced no
significant change on ram fertility
Efficacy of Different ELISA, Histopathology and PCR Assays for the Diagnosis of Ovine Brucellosis in Ram
Diagnosis of ovine brucellosis infection inthe ram hasepididymitis and orchitis has not been established. The aim of this study,to investigate the diagnostic value of ELISA, Histopathology and PCR for ovine brucellosis in ram in Karbala city. 30 ram’s serum and semen were collected from ram for serological and molecular assay, in addition three testicular tissueswere castrated from ram forhistopathological diagnosis of Ovine brucellosis. Sensitivity and specificity of ELISA and PCR were 80% ,70%; and 87.5%, 57.14%; respectivel,Palpable enlargement of the epididymis and testicular hypoplasia. Sensitivity by ELISA was higher in the ovine brucellosis detection than PCR, but specificity values were lower. In the present study, the cytotoxic effect of the triazole ipconazole was evaluated in porcine and ram spermatozoa. Ipconazole significantly reduced sperm viability, increased ROS levels, altered catalase and SOD enzyme activity, and caused alterations in the molecular mRNA expression of structural biomarkers (PRM1, ODF2, AKAP4, THEG, SPACA3 and CLGN) related to fertility in males, as well as the overexpression of BAX (cell death) and ROMO1 (oxidative stress) mRNA. Our results indicate that the fungicide triazole is involved in cellular, enzymatic and molecular alteration of porcine and ram spermatozoa, and is possibly a factor in the development of infertility in male mammalsNational University of San Marcos (Italia)Depto. de Farmacología y ToxicologíaFac. de VeterinariaTRUEpu
Great Expectatrics: Great Papers, Great Journals, Great Econometrics
The paper discusses alternative Research Assessment Measures (RAM), with an emphasis on the Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science database (hereafter ISI). The various ISI RAM that are calculated annually or updated daily are defined and analysed, including the classic 2-year impact factor (2YIF), 5-year impact factor (5YIF), Immediacy (or zero-year impact factor (0YIF)), Eigenfactor score, Article Influence, C3PO (Citation Performance Per Paper Online), h-index, Zinfluence, and PI-BETA (Papers Ignored - By Even The Authors). The ISI RAM data are analysed for 8 leading econometrics journals and 4 leading statistics journals. The application to econometrics can be used as a template for other areas in economics, for other scientific disciplines, and as a benchmark for newer journals in a range of disciplines. In addition to evaluating high quality research in leading econometrics journals, the paper also compares econometrics and statistics, alternative RAM, highlights the similarities and differences in alternative RAM criteria, finds that several ISI RAM capture similar performance characteristics for the leading econometrics and statistics journals while the new PI-BETA criterion is not highly correlated with any of the other ISI RAM, and hence conveys additional information regarding ISI RAM, highlights major research areas in leading journals in econometrics, and discusses some likely future uses of RAM.Research assessment measures, impact factors, Immediacy, Eigenfactor score, Article influence, h-index, C3PO, Zinfluence, PI-BETA
