    Technology is growing rapidly every year. The youth in Tamil Nadu are caught in the web of this rapid change through the strings of Meme Culture. Today social media and the advent of Meme around us have led to the youth being immersed in it completely. There is a growing concern on how it influences a youngster’s life. Meme culture has reached even remotest places in the world through these youngsters. These youngsters have either heard about memes, or are probably using them on a regular basis to express their views and are delighted in viewing them. Current issues and happenings in Tamil Nadu depicted through memes often grab the attention of youths on wider scale. This paper aims at studying youth meme culture on the social issues surrounding them. The researcher has employed quantitative approach and applied play theory in understanding the significant role of memes in social issues among the youths of Tamil Nadu

They simply do not know how to react and sufferowing toself-imposed quarantine. All of these sudden changes have led to immediate behavioural shift. During this lockdown, when people needed a relief from the official meetings while working from home, they would look forward to something more than the boringonline games.Meme sharing provided an opportunity for them to socialise with more people and evoked laughter during the countrywide lockdown.     Social Media became a means for sharing ideas and emotions in a public forum and social media became a platform for common public to express their views on different socio-political issues as well as the recent protest happened in Tamil Nadu . In January 2017, we witnessed there were huge protest across Tamil Nadu supporting Jallikattu, a bull-taming traditional Tamil sport which was banned by Supreme Court of India. The messages were spread in different Social Networking Sites and Apps triggered people to participate in the Jallikattu protest.
