Six Sigma Methodologies for Increasing the First Pass Rate of Engines in Manufacturing
The purpose of this paper is to show the use of the Six Sigma methodology in improving the first pass rate of an ALH4CT engines during manufacturing. The paper follows case study, design and manufacturing approach. The case study was performed in a leading automotive based company in India. The application of the Six Sigma methodology resulted in a reduction of tolerance-related problems and improved the first pass yield from 95 to over 99 percent. A number of tools and techniques in the Six Sigma tool box have been utilized for data analysis and drawing valid and sound conclusions. Using Pareto analysis, the primary causes for each of the defects were analyzed. As per the analysis, it is absorbed that the loss of power due to wrong flywheel marking was the majorcause for engine rejection. The fixture of the rotary table has been modified by placing a sleeve in the dwell pin locator. This sleeve used to reduce the play between the flywheel and the table. This in turn would correct the flywheel marking, thereby increasing the pass of percentage. The results of the case study have provided greater stimulus within the production facilities for wider application of the methodology as a powerful problem solving methodology. Keywords: Six Sigma, Business Process Improvement, Automotive Industry, Change Management, Data AnalyticsHow to cite this article:P Pathmanaban, B Naresh, Ganesh SS et al. Lean, 6-sigma for Green Manufacturing Competence
There is a serious intent of the present government to invigourate manufacturing, which cannot happen unless the industry caters to customer’s requirements fully, sincerely, and competitively. But to make this ambition live the industry must gear up with the use of tools, policies and paradigms, such that the various issues are brought under control. Some of these higher level tools/ paradigms include the use of Lean Manufacturing / Green Manufacturing and Six Sigma. This paper attempts to evaluate the characteristics of two tools/ paradigms of Lean for Green manufacturing, and Six Sigma, discussing their boundaries, impacts on application, and constraints/ limitations of their operational area.We attempt to build up a case for their deployment in an integrated form, and if and how they could be combined to fulfill the objects of the customer and the three objectives of waste reduction, defect reduction, and an environment which is green and motivating for the operators. The objective is contemplated to further energise the Make in India initiative of government of India. Keywords: Make in India, System of systems, DOWNTIME (Seven Wastes), Synergy, Thareja’s AUM modelHow to cite this article:Thareja M. Development of Artificial Intelligence based Hill Transport System
Increasing spate of road traffic fatalities and injuries is a critical public issue which becomes super critical in mountaneous regions. It though deserves and gets a concerted efforts for effective and sustainable prevention, the promise is best served thru design based interventions. Use of a sensor system encompassing signal processors was envisaged as a possible solution to avoid road accident in hilly areas. This paper reports the Design & Development of a trouble free driving using arduino road tracking as a prime objective. This called for the use of Sensors towards monitoring individual vehicles from a designed standoff distance and buzzer to alert driver crossing from other side. Ultrasonic sensors have been used to detectthreats at stipulated frequencies well in time. Design was based upon time measurements between the emission and reception
Climate Change in Indian Press
Media plays a very crucial role in our society as its purpose is not only to inform the public about current and past events, but it also determines what we think and worry about. Print media plays a very important role in information distribution and thus enjoys the mileage of being one of the strongest medium of public information. This written form of communication creates a longer influence on the minds of the reader by providing more in-depth coverage. Theory predicts that information provided by print media reflects the media’s incentives to provide news to different types of groups in society, and affects these groups’ influence in policy-making.The current paper analyses the role played by the print media in covering paramount issue of climate change. The study used data produced by the different newspapers pertaining to such issues. Now-a-days, climate change has been emerging as one of the most serious issues of mankind. There is little research available on how much information related to climate change is reaching the poorer communities across the globe. Climate change journalism can protect people and promote sustainable development. Content analysis is proved to be instrumental in analysing the content of the newspapers. This study unveils the trends and importance given by the main English dailies of India to climate change issues.

Functionality and Effectiveness Analysis of BJP and INC Websites
The purpose of this study was to discover the relevance of websites as a tool used by BJP and INC political parties of India in the present scenario when web 2.0 has overshadowed all the other platforms to engage with public. The study selects period of non-election period, i.e., routine politics to assess party’s normal behavior, outside of the obsession of an election campaign. The data for the analysis were collected during the last week of December 2018. During this period, no election campaign was going on. The findings of the data focus on two important aspects of political communication through websites, i.e., Information flow which includes information provision, resource generation, campaigning, networking and participation; and site delivery which includes navigability, visibility, multimedia, accessibility and responsiveness. Further, the researcher also tries to examine the popularity of the website through monthly page views, link analysis and geographic distribution. Using Alexa Way back Machine, the researcher compares the present view of parties’ website with its earlier view. The results suggest that web-based communication is mostly party-initiated top-down and one-way approach
Archetype Analysis of the Cinematic Representation of Rajinikanth, the Tamil Film Hero
The tropes used by Rajinikanth, the famous Indian Tamil film hero in his films Baasha to Kaala, were analyzed in this research paper. Carl Gustav Jung’s archetypes were used to analyze the heroic representation. The cinematic representation of Rajinikanth in these movies is deliberate and purposeful. He used dual archetypes to attract the attention of the audience. Erel Shallit’s Enemy, Cripple and Beggar: Shadows in the Hero’s Path is used as a model to analyze the archetype adopted by Rajinikanth in his films Baasha to Kaala. He was able to gain political leverage through these depictions.
Accounting Total Factor Productivity of FDI Firm in Nepal
Economic Reforms towards economic liberalization and privatization is a good prescription to attract FDI in productive sectors. In 1990, Nepal liberalized her economy to create investment environment and destination of FDI by minimizing structural and institutional barriers and constraints for promoting TFP of productive sectors. This study investigates empirically what is TFP growth of FDI in Nepal in 1990 after economic liberalization process. We use econometric model based on Cobb Douglas production function and theoretical model of TFP growth accounting method. The econometric and non-parametric TFP estimation provides mostly positive TFP growth of FDI firms in Nepal. Few cases were influenced by political and security disturbances. Almost positive TFP growths have increasing productivity but there are still lower than expectation. There are still problems of massive inferior labor, no significant technological and financial transfer and poor business environment. Issues of continuity and stability between two periods indicate unpredictable situation of productivity
