Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Are there any differences in quality or complication rate in total hip arthroplasty after establishing a center of endoprosthesis (EPZ) in a general hospital?
Aim of the current study is to investigate, whether there are any changes in quality pa- rameters or incidence of complications in total hip arthroplasty (THA) by establishing a center of endoprosthesis (EPZ) in a general hospital especially in respect to the prede- fined quality parameters.
Material and methods:
We conducted a retrospective study comparing the first 100 THAs one year before es- tablishing of an EPZ (Group I) with the first 100 THAs one year after establishing an EPZ (group II). Data were collected by analyzing the electronic documentation system, and report of the rehabilitation hospital. Especially the so-called quality parameters ac- cording to EndoCert® were considered. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS
22.0 using Kolmogorow-Smirnow-Test and Mann-Whitney U Test and chi-square- test.
Results:
X-rays before and after THA were available in all cases in group I and II (p > 0.05). Preoperative planning was performed in all cases in group I and group II (p >0.05). In group I we found 5 complications, in group II were 4 complications documented (p > 0.05). In group in 2 cases the inclination angle was > 50°, in group II this was docu- mented in one case (p > 0.05). Mean operatn time was 74.0 minutes in group I (min: 35, max: 175) and 70.0 minutes in group II (min: 30, max: 120) (p> 0.05). An operation time of more than 90 minutes was found in 19/100 cases (19 %) in group and in 13/100 cases (13 %) in group I (p < 0.001).
Conclusion:
Establishing a center of endoprosthesis (EPZ) in a general hospital leads to few positive changes. Only parameter “duration of operation > 90 minutes showed a significant im- provement. If this slight improvement of quality does justify the high personal and fi- nancial expenses remains debatable. Quality management systems seem to be necessary
in total arthroplasty surgery. Further investigation is needed to clarify whether a certifi- cation according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 is sufficient.Einleitung:
Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, Veränderungen der Komplikationshäufigkeit und der
„Qualitätsparameter“ in der Hüftendoprothetik durch die Etablierung eines Endoprothesenzentrums (EPZ) in einer Klinik der Schwerpunktversorgung zu untersuchen.
Material und Methode:
Im Rahmen einer retrospektiven Studie wurden die ersten 100 Fälle der Implantation einer Hüfttotalendoprothese im Jahr vor Einführung des EPZ an einer Klinik der Schwerpunktversorgung (Gruppe I) mit den ersten 100 Fällen im Folgejahr nach Einführung des EPZ (Gruppe II) verglichen. Es wurden insbesondere Qualitätsparameter nach EndoCert® berücksichtigt. Die Daten wurden der elektronischen Patientenakte bzw. dem Entlassbrief der Rehaklinik entnommen. Die statistische Auswertung erfolgte mit dem Programm SPSS 22.0. Es wurde der Kolmogorow-Smirnow-Test und der Mann-Whitney-U-Test verwendet und der Chi- Quadrat Test.
Ergebnisse:
Prä- und postoperative Röntgenbilder lagen sowohl in Gruppe I als auch Gruppe II in 100% der Fälle vor (p > 0,05). Die präoperative Prothesenplanung lag sowohl in Gruppe I als auch Gruppe II in 100% der Fälle vor (p > 0,05). In Hinblick auf die Kompli- kationshäufigkeit (Gruppe I: 5x, Gruppe II: 4x) ergaben sich keine statistisch signifikanten Unterschiede. In Gruppe I betrug in zwei Fällen der Inklinationswinkel > 50°, in Gruppe II in einem Fall Fällen (p > 0,05). Die mittlere OP- Dauer betrug in Gruppe I 74,0 Minuten (min: 35, max: 175) und in Gruppe II 70,0 (min: 30, max: 120) (p > 0,05). In Gruppe I wurde in 19/100 Fällen (19%) eine OP-Dauer von 90 Minuten überschritten, in Gruppe II kam dies in 13/100 Fällen (13 %) vor (p < 0,001).
Schlussfolgerung:
Die Einführung eines Endoprothesenzentrums in einem Krankenhaus der Schwerpunktversorgung hat zu wenigen, anhand definierter Qualitätskriterien messbarer, Veränderungen geführt. Allenfalls der Indikator „OP-Dauer > 90 min“
verbesserte sich signifikant. Ob der erhebliche personelle und finanzielle Aufwand jedoch die geringe messbare Qualitätsverbesserung rechtfertigt, bleibt fraglich. Ein Qualitätsmanagementsystem scheint in der Endoprothesenversorgung notwendig zu sein, es bedarf weiterer Studien, zu überprüfen, ob eine Zertifizierung nach z.B. DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 ausreichend ist

The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
