    No full text
This paper presents the issues of the SIS ACCE file in the translative education of difference. For research-teaching, it proposes the concepts of Spaces, Images, Signs (SIS) as levers to transcreate the curriculum; and the concepts of Author, Child, Curriculum, Educator (the ACCE unit) as operators of the translative didactics. It discusses the scientific objectification of the SIS ACCE block as practice, method and theory. It assumes a pure functionalism in order to distinguish the value of its use from its formation. It conceptualizes this file as a topological structure which works between readings and writings, didactical and curricular translations. It presents several understandings of the structure-file, and outlines a glossary of each of its seven elements. It concludes that, in the current phase, SIS ACCE has emerged as both a fact and a feat in our professional lives; hence, in the manner of Bashô, the place where the text finishes is where SIS ACCE starts – by pulling our hair while not pulling it out completely

Connected learners : implications for teaching in a connected world

    No full text
This paper explores issues emerging in education as contemporary learners find more powerful alternatives to traditional classroom learning. Learning in the 21st century should be connected, engaged, relevant and challenging. 21st century learners are offered multiple ways to task. They can create weblogs and access people via SMS (short message service), send photos on mobile phones, communicate in chat rooms, author in collaborative online spaces, join multiple gaming strategies, access web authoring repositories and digital content. The opportunities for providing connectivity in learning environments are growing rapidly. Online communications provide easy access to information, knowledge and community. This revolution is changing the attitudes of teachers. Connecting is only the first step however, so a learning framework to support 21st century learners and examples of how it is used in classrooms is provided. This paper will explore some of the implications for teachers operating in a digital age

A convert to Bulu Lor Village, Jambon Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency comes from residents who previously embraced Buddhism and then converted to Islam. Buddhism developed in the village because it was spread through neat da'wah management and supported by sufficient funding and supported by the lack of mental and spiritual strength and economic material in some villages. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency in 2018 the population of Bulu Lor Village is 4,000 people. Of these, 510 people rely on agriculture and farm laborers as economic livelihoods to fulfill their daily needs and 25 of them are converts. The convert group belongs to the marginal / mustad'afi> n / left behind in terms of economic welfare. Then it takes effort to improve the economic level of converts in order to strengthen faith in the Islamic religion so as not to return to Buddhism. Processed innovations from banana weevils to nuggets and sambal are alternative economic empowerment for converts, considering the easy-to-obtain materials, relatively easy processing methods, and the high potential of products accepted by the community if sold so that after training, converts are interested and continue to make nuggets and sambal from banana weevil as a superior product of Bulu Lor Village, which in turn has an impact on the economic growth of converts

Education is an unavoidable obligation for individuals to build self-quality. In this modern era, education can be accessed flexibly. However, the importance of developing innovation and creativity is often overlooked. Students of KKN Group 22 at IAIN Kediri deal with the problem of a lack of emphasis on innovation and creativity at SDN Sumberduren Tarokan. The method for implementing community empowerment activities uses the ABCD (Asset Bassed Community Development) method which emphasizes asset development. They use a white tote bag as a medium in tie-dye learning, helping students from every stage of making to coloring. This activity aims to strengthen students' innovative and creative abilities as well as motor skills. The results include dividing the totebags, wetting, folding with a spiral pattern, coloring, storage for 24 hours, to washing and drying the totebags. The results of the training show the active participation of students and an increase in their understanding of innovation and creativity. Thus, making tie-dye or dyed batik for elementary school students can foster a creative spirit in students and also foster an entrepreneurial spirit from an early age to face challenges and competition in the future

Storytelling in English Language Learning: Boosting Confidence and Discourse in EFL Contexts

    No full text
This study investigates the role of storytelling as a teaching strategy for improving English language abilities among vocational students at SMKN 1 Samarinda. Recognizing a void in the literature on practical approaches for reducing speaking anxiety in EFL contexts, this study analyzes students’ perspectives of how storytelling impacts their confidence, discourse growth, and engagement. Data were acquired using a phenomenological technique via semi-structured interviews with three selected students, with validation provided by insights from their English teacher to increase the study’s credibility. The main findings show that storytelling boosts students’ confidence in speaking, promotes discourse expansion, and encourages active engagement in classroom activities. However, some challenges emerged, such as nervouness when presenting stories and concerns about peer evaluation. These elements occasionally prevented pupils from fully participating. The conclusion indicates that storytelling can be an effective method for creating a more participatory and encouraging language learning environment. Educators are advised to add narrative activities designed to reduce fear and improve confidence, allowing children to practice speaking abilities in a comfortable environment. &nbsp

Drag Reduction by Applying Speedstrips on Rowing Oars

AbstractThe objective of this study was to determine the advantage of the application of speedstrips to rowing oars for a lightweight single sculler. The research method comprehended three steps: (1) the analysis of the rowing oar movement, (2) the determination of the change in drag and (3) the composition of a rowing model to establish the advantage that could be achieved. The parameters needed for the model: boat velocity, oar angle velocity and power delivered by the rower, were recorded on a real single sculler. The change in drag due to speedstrips on cylinders was determined by performing wind tunnel experiments. The rowing model (Matlab) simulates a race by using real stroke data of a world-class rower as input, while calculating the drag with the coefficients determined by the wind tunnel experiments. The output of the model is the final advantage by the application of speedstrips to rowing oars. Speedstrips induce a 0.1% advantage over a 2000 m race under calm wind conditions. The advantage increases up to .4% with a headwind velocity of 5 m s-1. For bigger boats, the advantage could be even more significant

Drag and Power-loss in Rowing Due to Velocity Fluctuations

    No full text
AbstractThe flow motions in the turbulent boundary layer between water and a rowing boat initiate a turbulent skin friction. Reducing this skin friction results in better rowing performances. A Taylor-Couette (TC) facility was used to verify the power losses due to velocity fluctuations PV′ in relation to the total power , as a function of the velocity amplitude A. It was demonstrated that an increase of the velocity fluctuations results in a tremendous decrease of the velocity efficiency eV . The velocity efficiency eV for a typical rowing velocity amplitude A of 20 – 25% was about 0.92 – 0.95%. Suppressing boat velocity fluctuations with 60% will increase boat speed with 1.6%. Riblet surfaces were applied on the inner and outer cylinder wall to indicate the drag reducing ability of such surfaces. The results of the measurements at constant velocity are identical as the results reported earlier, while the experimental configuration was different. This confirms once more the consistency of the TC-system for drag studies. The maximum drag reduction DR was 3.4% at a Reynolds number Res 4.7 × 104, which corresponds to a shear velocity in this TC-system with water of V 4.7 m/s. For typical rowing velocity fluctuations, the riblets maintain to reduce the drag with 2.8% and corresponds to a averaged velocity increase of 0.9%. The drag reducing ability of riblets is partly lost due to velocity fluctuations with high amplitudes (A > 20%). From these results, it is concluded that the friction coefficient Cf will vary within one cycle. Higher acceleration/deceleration leads to a additional level of turbulent kinetic energy
