    33 Tips to Maximize Articles’ Citation Frequency

    The number of citations contributes to over 30% in the university rankings. Therefore, most of the scientists are looking for an effective method to increase their citation record. On the other hand, increase research visibility in the academic world in order to receive comments and citations from fellow researchers across the globe, is essential. Publishing a high quality paper in scientific journals is only the mid point towards receiving citation in the future.     Role of Psychosocial Job Stressors on Sexual Function of Male Nurses: The Mediator Role of Work Ability

    There is limited information on the specific psychosocial risks at work that can impact sexual function. The general aim of this study was to investigate the effects of multiple dimensions of psychosocial work stressors on the male sexual function. This was a cross-sectional study conducted among 153 male nurses working in two hospitals in Iran. Sexual function and psychosocial job stressors were measured using the Persian version of the International Index of Erectile Function (P-IIEF) and the Persian version of the Health and Safety Executive (P-HSE) Management Standards Indicator Tool. The Persian version of the Work Ability Index (P-WAI) was used to assess the mediating effect of work ability on the relationship between overall stress and subscales of sexual function. The data were analyzed using Pearson product–moment correlation, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and multiple linear regressions. The subscales of psychosocial job stressors, especially the subscale of role, had a significant correlation with several domains of sexual function. The regression modeling indicated that the subscales of role and job demands were significant predictors of various domains of sexual function. The effect of overall stress on intercourse satisfaction was fully mediated by WAI. In the other indicators of sexual function, overall stress score had only a significant direct effect, not mediated by WAI. Intervention programs to improve sexual function should focus on increasing nurses’ involvement in making decisions related to jobs and on using ergonomic principles related to balancing job demands and the level of nurses’ capabilities

    Evaluation of a Structured Design Methodology for Concurrent Programming

    Learning how to design and implement a program is hard. Teaching methods and textbooks on Java programming often treat a new subject in terms of syntax and examples. Little attention is paid to systematically designing programs with these new concepts. Research has shown that such a complex task requires not only conceptual knowledge, but also explicit procedural support. In this paper, we investigate the effect of combining conceptualand procedural guidance to teaching and learning concurrent programming. We build on earlier research in which we have introduced such a structured design methodology which divides the development of multi-threaded Java programs into a sequence of explicit, manageable steps: the Steps Plan. We present our experiences with applying the Steps Plan in an introductory course on object-oriented programming, with multithreading. The main questions addressed are: "What problems did the students encounter in direct relation to the Steps Plan?", and "What general problems surfaced?" As to the first question, two important issues were that using a relatively far developed sequential solution as a stepping stone towards a multi-threaded solution wrong-footed some students, and that remedying race condition situations turned out to be supported at a too high level of abstraction. As to the second question, two notable issues were that deciding on the right amount and type of concurrency by themselves is maybe too difficult for students at this level, and that the notion of(establishing) correctness or quality of a solution is, different from the sequential case, not intuitively clear to students. For these issues, the paper recommends remedies and indicates directions for future work. We discuss the consequences for educationas regards teaching materials and forms of teaching

    Autism:Implications for Inclusive Education with respect to Software Engineering

    Within Computer science and Software engineering, the prevalenceof students with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder is relativelyhigh. Ideally, education should be inclusive, with which we meanthat education must be given in such a way that additional supportis needed as little as possible.In this paper, we present an overview on what is known aboutthe cognitive style of autistic individuals and compare that cognitivethinking style with computational thinking, thinking as an engineer,and with academic thinking. We illustrate the cognitive style ofautistic students with anecdotes from our students.From the comparison, we derive a set of guidelines for inclusiveeducation, and we present ideas for future work

    Accountability in Complex Organizations: World Bank Responses to Civil Society

    Civil society actors have been pushing for greater accountability of the World Bank for at least three decades. This paper outlines the range of accountability mechanisms currently in place at the World Bank along four basic levels: (1) staff, (2) project, (3) policy, and (4) board governance. We argue that civil society organizations have been influential in pushing for greater accountability at the project and policy levels, particularly through the establishment and enforcement of social and environmental safeguards and complaint and response mechanisms. But they have been much less successful in changing staff incentives for accountability to affected communities, or in improving board accountability through greater transparency in decision making, more representative vote allocation, or better parliamentary scrutiny. In other words, although civil society efforts have led to some gains in accountability with respect to Bank policies and projects, the deeper structural features of the institution - the incentives staff face and how the institution is governed- remain largely unchanged.

    Professor Ebrahim Behad, emeritus professor of Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), Isfahan Center, and professor at Islamic Azad University, Khorasgan branch passed away at the age of 85 on March 2021. Despite administrative responsibilities, he is the author of several books which some are references mostly for undergraduate students. His key role in holding two rounds of the Iranian Plant Protection Congress is memorable. Also, he published some peer-reviewed scientific articles and a lot of extension booklets and was involved in teaching and supervision the postgraduate students, mainly at the Isfahan University of Technology

    Equality of Google Scholar with Web of Science Citations: Case of Malaysian Engineering Highly Cited Papers

    This study uses citation analysis from two citation tracking databases, Google Scholar (GS) and ISI Web of Science, in order to test the correlation between them and examine the effect of the number of paper versions on citations. The data were retrieved from the Essential Science Indicators and Google Scholar for 101 highly cited papers from Malaysia in the field of engineering. An equation for estimating the citation in ISI based on Google scholar is offered. The results show a significant and positive relationship between both citation in Google Scholar and ISI Web of Science with the number of versions. This relationship is higher between versions and ISI citations (r = 0.395, p<0.01) than between versions and Google Scholar citations (r = 0.315, p<0.01). Free access to data provided by Google Scholar and the correlation to get ISI citation which is costly, allow more transparency in tenure reviews, funding agency and other science policy, to count citations and analyze scholars’ performance more precisely.Ale Ebrahim, N., Salehi, H., Embi, M.     NEW DELHI - Although clinical studies have suggested that the cholesterol lowering drugs known as statins could benefit people who are not already ill with cardiovascular disease, this assumption may have been premature - according to the author of a new Cochrane systematic review of the effects of statins. Shah Ebrahim explains to Peter Goodwin how many of the drugs-industry sponsored trials showing statin benefits have shortcomings, and that the cautious advice is to reserve statin therapy for patients who already have heart disease and those at risk of having a heart attack since the side effects of very widespread use of these drugs among healthy low-risk people are not yet fully known

It often takes a significant amount of effort from students to fully comprehend these concepts, which can lead to discouragement andevendropout. Learning the subject matter can be challenging due to various aspects, such as knowing the laws for rewriting logic formulas, recognizing patterns, and dealing with mathematical syntax. When these aspects have to be learned simultaneously, they can overwhelm learners and hinder their learning process due to cognitive overload. In this study, we developed a prototype for constructing equivalence proofs in logic using Parsons problems. Initially proposed to teach programming, Parsons problems aim to scaffold and alleviate the cognitive load by guiding learners to complete tasks through drag-and-drop interfaces, eliminating the need for typing or starting from scratch. The study investigates how Parsons problems can be applied in a new context for learning to work with logical formulas. Following the design science research methodology, we developed a prototype grounded in related theoretical concepts and refined iteratively based on input from domain experts. The prototype can be adjusted to user preferences, feedback can be given in various forms, and the difficulty level can be selected. Additionally, a variation of Parsons problems is introduced that allows the user to work in both top-down and bottom-up directions and to select a rewrite rule between blocks. The final prototype received positive evaluations from users (n=15) regarding its learning usefulness and ease of use

    Contribution of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Country’S H-Index

    The aim of this study is to examine the effect of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development on country’s scientific ranking as measured by H-index. Moreover, this study applies ICT development sub-indices including ICT Use, ICT Access and ICT skill to find the distinct effect of these sub-indices on country’s H-index. To this purpose, required data for the panel of 14 Middle East countries over the period 1995 to 2009 is collected. Findings of the current study show that ICT development increases the H-index of the sample countries. The results also indicate that ICT Use and ICT Skill sub-indices positively contribute to higher H-index but the effect of ICT access on country’s H-index is not clear.Cite as: FARHADI, M., SALEHI, H., EMBI, M.
