    SWAT Literature Database

    No full text
Welcome to the SWAT Literature Database for Peer-Reviewed Journal Articles. The database is an outgrowth of the “SWAT review article” that was published in Trans. ASABE in 2007 (Gassman et al., 2007), that can be accessed at https://swat.tamu.edu/publications/ (Comprehensive review of SWAT model article). Gassman et al (2014) provided description of the types of studies included, database structure, search options and other details for the database at that time (1,700 articles were indexed at that point Dr. Raghavan Srinivasan (https://blackland.tamu.edu/people/srinivasan-raghavan/) provided the initial inspiration for the database. Mr. Curtis Balmer, Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD), Iowa State University (ISU), created and maintained the on-line database from 2009 through the middle of 2022 (until his untimely death). Administration of the database was transferred to Texas A&M AgriLife on October 1, 2024 and is now accessible at https://litdb.swat.tamu.ed

Aenigmachanna, new genus Type species: Aenigmachanna gollum Diagnosis. Distinguished from Channa and Parachanna by the following characters, which are unique among channids: a very slender (maximum body depth only 11.1–11.3% SL), eel-like body (head length only 20.8–21.6% SL), large mouth (jaw length 60.4–61.1 % HL), 43–44 anal-fin rays, absence of a body lateral line with pored scales, 83–85 scales in a lateral series, colour pattern and absence of buoyancy. It is further distinguished from other channids by the following combination of characters: 64 vertebrae, 56–57 dorsal-fin rays, and the absence of pelvic fins. Etymology. Derived from the Latin word aenigma, enigma, and Channa, the genus name of Asian snakeheads. Gender feminine.Published as part of Britz, Ralf, Anoop, V. K., Dahanukar, Neelesh & Raghavan, Rajeev, 2019, The subterranean Aenigmachanna gollum, a new genus and species of snakehead (Teleostei: Channidae) from Kerala, South India, pp. 377-388 in Zootaxa 4603 (2) on page 378, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4603.2.10, http://zenodo.org/record/268232

Farewell address to N. Raghavan (Consul General for India in Indonesia), [between 1947 – 1950]

Document titled Farewell address to Mr. N. Raghavan, Consul General for India in Indonesia, from the Indian Community of Batavia. Raghavan left only one year after India opens a Consulate in Indonesia. Mani as Consul in Jogjakarta would have served as deputy to Raghavan, as Consul General. The text of this Farewell Address may even have been written by Mani – which would explain why he conserved it in this collection. In any event, the document reflects the perspective on the violence of Partition for Indians living in Indonesia 1947 and in the following years.</p

Electrospun polymer nanofibers: the booming cutting edge technology

    No full text
Electrospinning has been recognized as a simple and efficient technique for the fabrication of ultrathin fibers from a variety of materials including polymers, composite and ceramics. Significant progress has been made throughout the past years in electrospinning and the resulting fibrous structures have been exploited in a wide range of potential applications. This article reviews the state-of-art of electrospinning to prepare fibrous electrode materials and polymer electrolytes based on electrospun membranes in the view of their physical and electrochemical properties for the application in lithium batteries. The review covers the electrospinning process, the governing parameters and their influence on fiber or membrane morphology. After a brief discussion of some potential applications associated with the remarkable features of electrospun membranes, we highlight the exploitation of this cutting edge technology in lithium batteries. Finally the article is concluded with some personal perspectives on the future directions in the fascinating field of energy storag

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
