The Early Bronze Age III and IVA1 at Tell Mardikh/Ebla and Its Region : Stratigraphic and Ceramic Sequences
No full textThe site of Tell Mardikh, ancient Ebla, in north inner Syria, had three periods of flourishing: in Early Bronze IVA, the age of the State Archives, Early Bronze IVB and Middle Bronze I–II, between ca. 2400 and 1600 BC. The volume by Agnese Vacca explores the phases of formation of this great urban culture between ca. 2750/2700 and 2450 BC (EB III–IVA1) by means of an accurate and in-depth analysis of stratigraphy, architecture, ceramic materials and small finds.
The analysis was carried out in part on the field, but it is also the brilliant result of a painstaking work of study of excavation records and files from the archives of the Ebla Excavation, which allowed the author to collect consistent evidence from individual buildings – like Building G2 and Building G5 – and to relate it with scattered evidence from other sectors of the town, leading to the reconstruction of a coherent picture of pre-Palace G phases. As concerns specifically the ceramic repertory, Vacca, starting with the evidence from Ebla, enlarges her analysis, singling out a specific pottery horizon of the Ebla region, whose relations with other contemporary assemblages in the Northern Levant are presented in detail. The resulting picture from Ebla and its region has been related with the contemporary evidence from the Northern Levant and Upper Mesopotamia and has been framed in the general background of the process of state formation in this very important region of the ancient Near East

Older than 100: una riflessione sulle mostre del futurismo a New York dopo il Centenario
No full textIl sessantesimo anniversario della morte di Cesare Andreoni (1903-1961) è l’occasione per promuovere una Giornata di studi che intende presentare l’opera dell’artista milanese nel contesto della vicenda futurista del capoluogo lombardo e, più in generale, del movimento marinettiano. Nata da un’idea dell’Archivio Cesare Andreoni, che tutela e promuove la figura e l’opera del pittore fin dal 1989, la Giornata di studi si è andata delineando grazie alla collaborazione con il Dipartimento di Beni Culturali e Ambientali dell’Università degli Studi di Milano e con il Centro Apice del medesimo ateneo, che conserva un ricco ed importante patrimonio di riviste e volumi futuristi nel Fondo Reggi. La manifestazione è patrocinata da AitArt (Associazione Italiana Archivi d’Artista), che dal 2014 è impegnata a sostenere e promuovere l’attività di conoscenza di questo rilevante patrimonio.
Il convegno prevede due sessioni che intrecceranno le vicende dell’esperienza artistica di Andreoni con l’articolato panorama del futurismo milanese. Innanzitutto sarà delineato il clima del capoluogo lombardo in quegli anni di grande fermento: dal 1909, quando Marinetti lancia il suo manifesto, al periodo compreso tra i due conflitti mondiali, prima del trasferimento del fondatore a Roma nel 1925 (Luigi Sansone); quindi sarà illustrato lo sviluppo della “città che sale” attraverso la ricostruzione delle architetture più significative e dei luoghi cari ai futuristi (Graziella Leyla Ciagà).
Questo inquadramento generale sarà concluso dall’ultimo intervento che intende compiere una riflessione sugli studi più attuali pubblicati negli Stati Uniti dopo il fiorire delle indagini compiute nel 2009 in occasione del centenario del movimento (Raffaele Bedarida). La vicenda biografica, e soprattutto pittorica, di Andreoni verrà approfondita attraverso alcuni documenti conservati nell’Archivio (Mariateresa Chirico). A completare la giornata di studi una serie di interventi legati ad alcuni aspetti specifici della produzione artistica futurista a Milano, che terranno presente l’apporto dell’artista milanese: la “bottega” di Cesare Andreoni, l’unica del capoluogo lombardo, nella quale l’artista ideava e realizzare oggetti, mobili, complementi all’insegna dell’assunto della “ricostruzione futurista dell’universo” (Anty Pansera); gli interventi progettuali degli anni Trenta (Matteo Fochessati); la pubblicità e la grafica futuriste legate alle aziende per le quali sono state realizzate (Luciana Gunetti), l’editoria futurista riferita alla realtà milanese (Silvia Vacca). Infine saranno presentati i documenti e le riviste futuriste conservate dal Centro Apice (Valentina Zanchin)
