Intenzione e azione nella progettualità formativa del soggetto postmoderno. La proposta metodologica de “Il film delle emozioni” di Raffaele Calabretta
A partire dalle più recenti riflessioni maturate nell'ambito delle neuroscienze, il volume propone una lettura del percorso formativo in termini di processo costruttivo, implicito ed intersoggettivo. Tali dimensioni sembrano offrire notevoli suggestioni alla riconsiderazione dell'educazione, sostenendo l'apertura del discorso bio-pedagogico nei confronti di una interpretazione dei processi formativi in chiave storica e culturale oltre che biologica. Sono le "costanti biologiche", sottese ai processi intenzionali e radicate nell'organismo umano, a dar vita ad una lettura del processo formativo in termini di processo esperienziale spazialmente e temporalmente definito. I contributi introduttivi hanno la funzione di delineare la cornice teorica entro la quale collocare i saggi successivi maggiormente orientati sul versante dei contesti e delle pratiche educative e didattiche. Nella seconda e nella terza parte, il volume si sviluppa su due binari diversi ed interrelati, connessi al ruolo delle emozioni nei processi di apprendimento a scuola, il primo, ed all'uso delle nuove tecnologie nella scuola, il secondo. An Artificial Life Model for Predicting the Tertiary Structure of Unknown Proteins That Emulates the Folding Process
We present an "ab initio" method that tries to determine the tertiary structure of unknown proteins by modelling the folding process without using potentials extracted from known protein structures. We have been able to obtain appropriate matrices of folding potentials, i.e. 'forces' able to drive the folding process to produce correct tertiary structures, using a genetic algorithm. Some initial simulations that try to simulate the folding process of a fragment of the crambin that results in an alpha-helix, have yielded good results. We discuss some general implications of an Artificial Life approach to protein folding which makes an attempt at simulating the actual folding process rather than just trying to predict its final result. Supporting Argumentation in Online Political Debate: Evidence From an Experiment of Collective Deliberation
In this paper we report the results of an e-democracy experiment in which a group of supporters of a large political party were asked to debate online about ways to reform the electoral law. We compare a traditional forum with an online collaborative argumentation platform to capture the various proposals and their associated pros and cons. The aim of the study is to assess the capability of this toolto support online collective deliberation in a real world case,as compared to anonline discussion supported by a forum.By comparing users’ experience across several metrics related to usability, activity levels, and quality of collaboration our findings show that the forum produced more activity and ideas and its users perceived a better quality of the collaboration process, while the argumentation tool helped to reduce the amount of self-referential arguments and encourage viewing and rating of others’ post
Qualitative acceptance and co-design of an app aimed at improving emotional intelligence for precarious workers
In the discussion on the work competences, the emotional competences are acquiring only in the last years a concrete popularity, although its importance is demonstrated. The COVID-19 pandemic increased the effect on works and on workers uncertainly, enlarging the needs of emotional competence tools, accessible to all category of users with a special focus on those with social or economic fragilities. Based on this background the project called EMOTION.exe aims to develop and assess an "Emotional Training Gym", a safe environment, designed for the acquisition of new socio-emotional competences. It is freely browsable that leaves a high degree of autonomy using digital tools, tailored for the users with a high risk of social exclusion or job insecurity. The article describes a study performed with focus groups for the qualitative acceptance of the EMOTION.exe software and the consequent co-design with the potential user for further improvement. The results show that the tool is highly accepted by the user groups, with some concrete proposals for improvement based on the needs of the participants that includes the centrality of the artificial tutors, the inclusion of gamification aspects, the redesign of the graphical layout and proposals of videos to be added in the multimedia library
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
